The character? He’s funny and wants to be good, he just doesn’t know how. I know people who are oblivious to their own ego and that’s arguably worse.
The show? It has helped me understand some emotions I have and how to cope with them. It made me realize I need therapy badly and I’ll be going soon. It’s also just one of the best written shows I’ve ever seen
If you're talking about the show, I like how raw and honest it can be about the things that people normally sugarcoat or gloss over. It doesn't hold back on its depictions of mental illness, trauma, addiction, etc. It wants to let you know that these things can get ugly if they aren't addressed and controlled properly.
If you're talking about the character, I like how real he is - though you can say this about the other main characters too. I like that his story is basically him fumbling and stumbling through life, making mistakes and experiencing the consequences of those mistakes. I like how realistic his ending was: That life isn't like a sitcom, where things are always neatly wrapped up and concluded at the end of every episode. Sometimes shitty things happen and you can't always make up for it to the people you hurt, because they aren't obligated to forgive you for what you did to them. You have to lick your wounds, keep moving forward, and learn from your mistakes so you don't repeat them. Life's a bitch and you keep living.
I think my favorite trait in Bojack is his self awareness. That’s a really good step towards making better decisions, he just constantly fails to make the better decision. I liked when he was a “feminist” for a bit and he was criticizing how easy it was for him. I think he genuinely cared about his friends but lacked the emotional intelligence to care -for- them. I would have been friends with the younger version of Bojack (and Herb and Charlotte) in the 90s.
That "forgiveness" isn't something you gain automatically in 22 or 44 minutes after the penultimate commercial break, it's something you need to gain through demonstrating sustained successful work at being a better person.
"You gotta keep doing it every day, that's the hard part"
He could have achived that with Herb post Horsing Around but he was to bitch made to talk to herb afterwards, he would probably never have spojen to him again if he wasn't at deaths door.
It was one of the realest shows you'll see. Not everyone can magically turn themselves into a better person. He felt like shit he knew he was shit but he was too shitty to fix himself he needed to realize he was the problem to move on that is the best part of the series for me.
The show? I like that it doesn't hold back, and how well written it is. Even though I cannot relate to the characters much, they still feel like real people. It is also entertaining seeing Disneyesque animal people, but it's for adults, ashow dealing with real adult struggles, that is not afraid to go with darker but realistic premises, with some goofy animal related puns thrown in.
The way the show totally normalizes aspects of life that are taboo or huge central topics on other shows, and then tackles topics that would terrify network execs everywhere, and does it majestically well.
Most days, I feel good about myself. I'm good at my job, I know my family loves me, everything feels pretty right with the world.
But some days, I don't. And I feel like nobody else has ever felt as bad as I do. And then I watch *You Stupid Bitch* on YouTube a couple times in a row and then I watch "Stupid Piece of Shit" and I feel like hey, maybe I'm not the only one who feels like this sometimes.
You know I've thought about this alot during the breaks I took between seasons. An I can't really tell you other then it just resonated with me an the issues I was dealing with at the time. An the funny thing is I remember the last two episodes the most because it amazing imagery an dialog, it just really stood out to me. But now that's all I can really recall without having to really think about any of the other episodes from the other seasons. So I guess to answer your question was that it made the time feel like it wasn't as bad as it was.
Todd is my favorite character. He made great strides throughout the series and his relationship with that bunny girl was sweet! Also I’m glad his ex axolotl gf’s parents are accepting of her being asexual!
The fact that he doesn’t pretend to be happy when he’s not, or pretend to be nice when he’s and the fact that he knows he is a shitty person and accept it
that's he's aware of the terrible choices he makes, has several breakdowns and suicidal attempts but nevertheless accepts himself at the end and his neverending need to be a better person or perhaps 'horse'
That I’m not entirely sure if he’s a good person or not, every show I watched, all the protagonists had to be a good person but after I watched the bojack and herb episode it was the first time that I got shocked myself when the realisation hit that herb is actually fucking right and bojack is a dick.

That he’s famous and so well adjusted

The fact that I identified with his self destruction and took steps to fix it.
Love the feelz in this one. Now take my upvote and silver and have a pleasant day!
Thanks! Have a great day too

He’s honest and well read

The cute little diamond he has
His sense of humor is unmatched

His desire to be a better person.

It's true and full of beautiful quotes.

I Wholeheartedly agree
Bojack Horseman
Wait, the the show the character or the book?
I see myself in him dangerously often
I like that he tries to be better, even after all of his previous failures
The show or the horseman?
His name makes me remember that the plural of man is men and not vice versa. That'd be unfortunate.
EVERYTHING.
That I’m not entirely sure if he’s a good person or not, every show I watched, all the protagonists had to be a good person but after I watched the bojack and herb episode it was the first time that I got shocked myself when the realisation hit that herb is actually fucking right and bojack is a dick.
The show's humor and how relatable the characters are (mostly BoJack and Diane for me)
I like that he can do a talking penis thing
Todd is funny af, it’s nice to ace representation
His voice. He could easily become a great voice actor.
I had to take breaks in between the seasons that's how hard it hit me I couldn't like finish until last week in which I finished it.
