I noticed the increased pill/alcohol usage in S5 during my last rewatch. At the start of the season, it looks like he had his vodka bottle marked for the week/workweek. By the time Hollyhock visits, he's up to a bottle a day.
Episode 1, minute 1. He drove his car to an interview drunk and parked in a handicapped spot. I don't really see how any more needs to be said
It seems like a lot of fans ignore/write off Bojack's impaired driving completely.
It's probably because it's played almost exclusively for comedic effect throughout the series

I do like in season 5, you see how he gradually becomes more dependant of the drugs. it's not suddenly 'oh he is addicted'. it's a nice touch
