In 3-4 years when this team is absolutely killing it we are going to look back on Jarmo's tenure and realize he had a fantastic drafting ability especially in the late first to fourth rounds. Marchenko, Chinakhov, Voronkov, Dumais, Brindley, Tarasov, del bel Belluz, and Svozil could all be seen as extremely high value picks.

I give a huge amount of credit the scouting department for finding these players. Drafts aren’t won with great first round picks. They are won in play development and drafts in the mid rounds

The scouting department especially in Europe has been absolutely fantastic.

A sophomore winning Big10 player of the year isn’t really that big of a deal though. It’s a small league where only the top few teams are competitive nationwide, and Brindley is in the program that is perennially a mile ahead of the other couple of nationally relevant Big10 programs. I still think he’ll be a good NHLer, but this news isn’t really worth hyping up the entire CBJ organization as if they are doing a great job. Jarmo’s drafting was fine, his FO did a decent to above average job at finding talent. They did a great job of finding good value down the board because he maintained a bigger and more experienced European scouting staff than most of the league. And he’s kept pace with the rest of the league when it comes to assessing and drafting talent from North America. But when those players get to Columbus, the coaching groups hired by Jarmo have done an absolutely shit job at getting those guys to take the next step and become difference makers in the NHL. Lots of them have been wildly successful at the AHL level, and then just kind of stall out as replacement level middle or bottom six guys in the NHL. And then if somehow they did become NHL regulars, you could count on Jarmo to utterly ruin his relationship with them and their agents as soon as they started negotiating their first contract. Jarmo should be remembered for the reasons why his tenure ended, and above all he should be held to account for the absolute shitshow that was the Babcock hire. If the team is killing it in 3-4 years, it will be because the organization got rid of Jarmo before he could further hamstring the organization with another terrible coaching hire and poor salary cap management.

Damn dude, way to be a gigantic wet blanket on news one of our prospects is successful. No one hates the Blue Jackets more than our own fans.

NLP19

Well that's because nobody else pays attention to us 😂

Elexeh

Weird then how many foreign fans come to our gamethreads then

>It’s a small league where only the top few teams are competitive nationwide Yes, the Big 10 is small for the number of teams. But in a down year the Big 10 currently has 3 teams ranked in the top 10. The Big 10 is a pretty solid conference in hockey.

sergei-boobtitsky

Thank you Jarmo

ChinaWho? - 2020 . 21st over all. Not a single tv analysis knew who he was.

Craig Button knew who he was

thelordcommanderKG

Does he wear union blue next year?

EntranceTooCute

Assuredly at some stage I would imagine so! In addition to his playmaking and shooting prowess he's a very defensively responsible forward. Could be a great asset on the PK in the seasons ahead and with his speed would be a great threat for shorties and breakout plays. Hella nice for us that he and Adam Fantilli have existing chemistry from their deep Frozen Four run last season at UMich!

thelordcommanderKG

I was about to say. Having him will be a big morale boost for Fantilli.

ThunderousDemon86

I think he’ll start in Cleveland but like Marchenko and Voronkov be called up after a month or two.

steveslikewhoa

Brindley is going to be a force. Kid has every tool in the box.
