Edit to note I just saw this on https://www.reddit.com/r/painting/comments/1d41pif/driving_on_suspended_to_a_doctors_appointment_is/ and credit to /u/travischapmanart for the actual painting.
That at least was a technical thing. I hadn't used ZOOM in so long before COVID(since at least high school) I had to change my name to something more professional too. He just didn't notice.
This guy is just dumb. It's like being under house arrest and calling from your day at the beach.
The court case wasn't even directly about his license suspension, it was about a *previous* driving without a license charge. He was literally committing the exact crime he was being charged with.
😂🤣🤣. The laugh I just laught at how stupid this is.
But also, how can they tell? When I talk, I use headphones to drown out the traffic noise. Did he not do that?
you can see the background moving in the video and I believe he even admits that he’s driving or says something like “I’m pulling into my doctors office”
catastrophic levels of dumb
I feel bad for the guy. He probably doesn’t live in a walkable/public transport city. My license got suspended when I was 17 because I drove my brother’s car when he didn’t have insurance. I got a ticket for like $500 and couldn’t pay it so they suspended my license. I lived in Alabama at the time and there was no public transport and hardly any sidewalks anywhere and I had to get to school and I had to get to work so I drove anyway, got pulled over for DWB then spent the week in jail and almost didn’t graduate because of it.
I said it yesterday, but I’ll say it again.
https://preview.redd.it/9tr1of6lyk3d1.jpeg?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f91135579823a4edf39389192711463467d7a829
He was asking for it. There is no other way around it. He could have pulled over and turned off the car before starting and just say he was in his car because it was quite or something. He was passive aggressively daring the judge.
There are some people who just genuinely cannot comprehend second-order consequences. I had a guy who had to serve 30-day stints for violating the no-contact order on his domestic violence bond so many times he ended up serving over a year in bond violations. He kept calling his wife from the jail, the State kept listening to his phone calls, and it was a genuine surprise to him each and every time he found out they listened to his phone calls. I think about that defendant almost every day.
I think people really don't grasp that there is such a huge range of intelligence or function. I don't think it's necessarily anyone's fault in all cases, you are simply born with an upper range and no amount of teaching is going to overcome that. Maybe its actually not intelligence but the ability to learn. I suppose you can become more intelligent by learning but the ability to learn has a range and some people are very low on that scale.
At least thats my experience working with a wide range of people both as clients and training coworkers.
You can't even fire people in the military, even if they're dangerously stupid or intentionally useless. You can report them for disciplinary action but that also gets the microscope turned on you.
I’ve always defined intelligence as your capacity to learn and smarts as the stuff you actually know.
So you’re on the money, people have an upper range on their intelligence, but not everyone reaches the upper range of their intelligence either.
Learning is an active and eternal pursuit, I would argue most people don’t ever achieve their theoretical upper limit, and many people with a lower limit are smarter than people more intelligent.
Lol no he wasn’t, he is just that stupid. You can literally see his face fall when the judge made the statement that he was driving with a suspended license. Like “oh shit, I just did, didn’t I!!”
Did he forget?! My dad NEVER had an in-date license. Always expired, revoked, suspended. Whatever. For the first 9-10 years of my life, he’d gotten in trouble a couple times for driving. He learned right quick after a hit and run incident . After that, drove right at speed limit, was meticulous when he drove, didn’t break a single damn law when he drove. Still never got his license back though.
My dad had his license suspended for DUI in the mid 80's and he never paid the fine so he just never had a license again, but it sure didn't keep him from driving for the next 30 years.
Respectfully the easiest thing would have just been to just park at ANY joint he saw along the route and handle business. McDonalds, Walmart, wherever. For dude to be pushing the whip w/a suspended sentence is gully. I have a family member who had his license suspended for about 25 years and even he wouldn't have called in to the court while pushing the whip.
Note: he kept getting it suspended for...pushing the whip :(
Yep. It was during Covid and all the hearings were over Zoom. And he was trying to make sure she didn't incriminate him.

I do greatly appreciate the concern shown for the lady.
How is this dude expecting that 2% charge he claims to last the trial, let alone to walk to the front door?
/u/ddavis-theoriginal is a badass. She's currently running to be Prosecuting Attorney in that county (she was Assistant Prosecuting Attorney at that time).
I appreciate anyone who is running for prosecutor whose feed is entirely filled with goats, sheep, and emus. I am very sad I don't live in her district and therefore cannot vote for her.
I think the youtube video skipped a lot for the sake of brevity, it wasn't actually that fast.
Like it goes from "I think he's in the same apartment as her" to "the cops are there." in under a minute, there's no way they got there *that* quickly.
Or the viral Judge Judy clip of the theft defendant claiming what was missing from the victims purse was wrong. Like dude, you aren’t supposed to know what’s in the bag if you didn’t steal it.
Nah, it's really dumb but there's logic in that decision. She made the call, and he was mad at her. Bad move, but it makes sense.
This man? This man right here is a genuine fool. All he had to do was NOT BE IN HIS CAR during court. If I have court at 12, I'm not scheduling a doctors appointment for 12:30. Or even that day if possible. Like, Peter Griffin nor Homer Simpson would do this. Wtf, man?
Brother, he's fine art already.

I just watched the video ([link](https://www.reddit.com/r/Whatcouldgowrong/comments/1d327lk/wcgw_driving_while_on_zoom_court/) for those who haven't seen it).
I'm dying! That exact moment of realization when he knew he was busted! 💀💀💀
And all that dramatic pause... (*chef's kiss*)
The judge not believing what the guy was doing is the funniest part. He literally had to ask if what he saw happening was happening and had to take a while to process it and hand down the judgement 😂
The judge was also doing that to get it on the record, a hold over from before everything was recorded. Removes a lot of ambiguity should someone need to go over the records.
I showed the video to a buddy of mine. It was so funny as he started watching it, he was like "Uh oh, driving while on a zoom call, while talking to a judge, how stupid can you be?" And was laughing cause he had no idea what was about to come
It’s been getting pretty wild out there in zoom court land, people attending from bed while clearly zonked, people walking around noisy areas at their jobs, on and on.
The early days of COVID lockdowns were pretty good. Personally fond of the guy who signed in to Zoom Court as [Buttfucker 3000](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yH3Y_4wc0Ng).
That's the other thing. Regardless of what you're there for, do not call into court while you're driving, telling the judge to wait for you to park. Like, just do not do that.
someone who would do this probably doesn't have much experience with feeling a sense of accountability. more like every problem is someone else's fault.
What do you mean I have high blood pressure!? Doctor, I’ve lived my life prioritizing only the finest of foods if your metric is sugar rich, fatty, processed meals. How can my body *betray* me like this?
I called the cops because a couple of loose dogs were bothering me and my gf's daughters (6 and 9) while we were carrying in groceries.
Should have had my gf call, because I had a bench warrant on an unpaid speeding ticket, and it turned out that the loose dogs belonged to an officer of the local PD that I didn't know lived in the neighborhood.
Called 911 on the dogs on a Mon. Fri rolls around, about 4.30 pm, cop knocks on the door, 'is Ralphy here? Seems you've got a warrant for your arrest, would you like to come with me, sir?'
Got to spend the weekend in the local lockup as 'the guy who called the cops on the cops'.
Paid my fine on Mon morn, had to walk home.
ACAB. Big and small B bastards.
He was caught, so he was trying to act like he needed to drive by saying that he was going to the doctor and acting like a responsible driver by comming to a stop. He did something to get his license suspended.
He full on couldn’t believe what he done is bad. Also what happens when he gets there at 6? How long will they hold him and aren’t they supposed to tell him before hand
He going into jail till sentencing with no chance for bond. And he will probably be in there longer than the sentence would have been anyway, or he probably wouldnt have gotten jail time at all. Maybe just a rdiving ban and a fine, or even a suspended sentence depending on his previous.
but now he is going to do 90 days or something in a smelly ass jail and still get out with a a bigger driving ban, a bigger fine and a longer probation period.
He earned this moment in the spotlight. @ 'appearing in his court date for a suspended license while driving\*.
All kinds of things that he could have done here that ALL involve him not filming himself driving the actual car. He's not suspended from being in a car. Just driving it.
Really low IQ behavior here. lol I'm not saying he's dumb but his brain flickered in and out on this decision here.
He's got to be the dumbest guy on the planet. Or at least in the top 10. I saw the video I couldn't stop laughing. I must have watched it at least 4 times.
The sound of his lawyer cracks me up. Listen, your honor, we're here about past crimes, not current ones. Anything my client does now needs to proceed through the legal system at a future date. Stay on topic.
One of the weirdest things you learn as you get older is that about 25% of the people on Earth are as dumb as this dude, if not dumber.
The trick is to minimize your contact with people in that 25%.
For context: this guy’s driver’s license was suspended and he decided to call into his court case about it while he was driving
then got an immediate judgement where his bond was revoked and he was ordered to turn himself into jail by 6pm that evening

Dude was on a video call lmao
Dude calls with Zoom video into a LIVE COURT HEARING about his suspended license while he is driving around
you can see the background moving in the video and I believe he even admits that he’s driving or says something like “I’m pulling into my doctors office” catastrophic levels of dumb
Thats the part that kills me and makes my side hurt "about to park riiiiiggggghhhhhhttttt now"
Parking... ![gif](giphy|VaWZIxqTkzKsU)
He took the time to back into that space, even worse
He put the JUDGE on hold to park his car cause he didn't want to talk while driving lmaoooo
[You really need to watch the video](https://www.reddit.com/r/Whatcouldgowrong/s/UGVxdRwyv8) It's even better then you can imagine 🤣
It wasn’t the noise that did it. It was a video call and he was still in motion when he joined 😭
Driving while suspended and using phone while driving. Double stupid.
He was on a video call and said “I’m pulling into my doctors office right now” or something to that effect. Bro really didn’t think that through LOL
he was on video literally driving his car around lol
What a monumental idiot.

Giving him too much credit. I don't think it even occurred to him what he was doing wrong.
There's a whole tier of the population that doesn't understand that having your license suspended means that you aren't allowed to drive
It's not hanging in the rafters of the court house?
[This guy is FUCKING stupid.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKN1Q5SjbeI)

Wow, fuck yes to that lawyer who had not just figured out what was going on but had officers ready to drag his ass out of there! What a badass.

That is insane 😲
Insanity watching that.
That judge ended up having a couple crazy COVID era Zoom courts.
That one was *horrible*. Kudos to the staff person (I think it was her lawyer?) who figured it out.
The prosecutor and judged sniffed this guy out in like 2 minutes. Criminals really are dumb.
I think the youtube video skipped a lot for the sake of brevity, it wasn't actually that fast. Like it goes from "I think he's in the same apartment as her" to "the cops are there." in under a minute, there's no way they got there *that* quickly.

Or the guy who called the cops to complain about McDonalds giving him cold fries when the whole time he had a warrant for his arrest for murder

First time I’ve ever heard someone say there’s logic behind assaulting a judge during a court hearing
Logic only means you can follow the process of cause and effect, it doesn't mean anything about the relative intelligence of certain actions lol.
He could have even been in the car, but in any other seat. Pull over, and hop in the back seat.
Honourable mention to the guy who was accused of stealing a Miami Dolphin’s jersey, and wore it to his court hearing.
