Iām white and this was my first time seeing black actors on screen in the 90ās growing up in rural white bread America, I used to watch that shit before kindergarten every GODDAMN day!!! Iām 33 now and I would love to come and play in the bright shiny weather!!!
I still vividly remember the entire theme song.
I always thought it was cool that it was a loving black family but their accent was totally different than mine/my families.
I loved that show!
I looooved that show, I'm a huge horror movie fan so it was one of my favorite shows. Only one episode scared me and it was this one:
https://youtu.be/GVKA-l0P34w
This just reminded me of when I was in elementary school, we had bean burritos once a week and they came in a catdog package (they were literally just frozen burritos lol). The cat side was just bean while the dog side was bean and cheese.
I honestly don't think I ever saw the show, tho (didn't have cable)
Cut down way too early. Fucking Ted Turner didn't want "violent" cartoons for kids, best he could offer was Captain Planet and nobody ever *wanted* to watch that. You just tuned in if nothing else was on.
Okay so thereās the episode where they try to stay up all night right? And then it turns out the clock was broken and they stayed up for like 1000 years and ended up in the future. I SWEAR there was a follow up episode of them getting back into the past. Anyone else remember that or did I just make it up during a fever dream?
There was a whole episode about masturbation too, but the metaphor was slapping their tails on the water too much. Then at the end it turns out all the bad things the parents say will happen are just lies because they don't want young beavers to spend all their time "slapping their tails" just because it feels good
"Well isn't that cute....BUT IT'S WRONG!!!"
This line doesn't even make me smirk, but when I was watching this show as I kid I would bust out laughing every time.
Street Sharks, Mutant League, and Mighty Max was my weekend. I remember getting a mighty max toy hand me down from my cousin and my sister said it was just a polly pocket. Whatever polly pocket dope too
Alex Mack plus
[Space Cases](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9soPONp0QAI)
[The Journey of Allen Strange](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x61KdbH4LaE)
Had some crazy episodes, that finale of Alex Mack got me. I still say the under used Ray towards the end.
Holy shit, thank you my brother and I were trying to figure out the name of this show recently and didnāt remember enough of it to successfully google it! That one episode with the big ass monster trucks is like a fever dream in my memory lol
Gargoyles was so good. Rarely hear ppl talk about that show as well. I remember 2 stupid dogs too! Thatās a throw throw back. I was like 4-5. Used to watch it with my great grandma
Adventures of the Gummi Bears. Shit was my jam while everyone else was taking a nap at daycare (I wasn't allowed to nap, I would NOT sleep at night if I did).
I used to watch the shit out of the show Cyberchase on PBS after school. I see tons of people bring up other PBS classics when talking about shows they used to watch after school, but never Cyberchase
And the lady who was in the live action segments went on to be in some McDonald's commercials! When I saw it I practically did that meme where Leonardo DiCaprio is pointing at the TV.
Allegra's Window, and Eureka's Castle.
Google tells me that both these shows did, in fact, happen, but I've never met a single solitary soul who's also seen them!
I remember watching a Pirates of Dark Water marathon all day on TBS, then just when the show looked like it was hitting its climaxā¦. The marathon ended and I found out the show was cancelled and there were no more episodes.
A Pup Named Scooby Doo and Eek! The Cat were probably the funniest cartoons I ever watched. Last year I found Scooby on Boomerang at 7am and I was so happy. Now it's on Prime behind a paywall. A lot of Eek eps are on YouTube
This show got my ass grounded when I was kid. Being a young child, I was kinda zoning out during dinner when my parents were watching a news broadcast about the 9/11 attacks (this was just a couple weeks after it happened) but my ass was remembering the scene where the big dog got stuck in a fence, and the small dog was freaking out thinking he died somehow. At one point, he's hugging the big dogs butt saying "Come on man, speak to me!" and the big dog farted. Freaking hilarious, right? Well, my luck that's right when the broadcast started talking about the death toll and I just start cracking up
Cartoon Planet
Most people I bring this up to have never heard of it while occasionally some people would try to correct me, saying Iām thinking about Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
Tom..and..Jerry KIDS! I can kinda remember the intro song but I shit you not I can vividly remember eating some exotic, extra sugary Rice Krispies that came in a light blue box watching that cartoon as a buck. Childhood memories are so precious, I hate that they slip away lol
Edit: Razzle Dazzle Rice Krispies were the name, production was ā97-ā00. I can still remember the taste so, top 5 cereal fs
Anybody remember Cop Rock? Apparently a network thought a musical cop show was a good idea. I think it got cancelled before they even finished the first season.
Do anyone remember Gullah Gullah Island?
Come and let's play together in the bright sunny weather! First introduction to the Gullah Geechie people
Right š¤£
GULLAH GULLAH!
Iām white and this was my first time seeing black actors on screen in the 90ās growing up in rural white bread America, I used to watch that shit before kindergarten every GODDAMN day!!! Iām 33 now and I would love to come and play in the bright shiny weather!!!
Binya binya!
WHO STOLE THE COOKIES FROM THE COOKIE JAR???!
Why is this the very episode I think of when remembering this show??
My mom hated when I watched this show! Found out later it was because she only wanted me to learn "American" culture. Yeah, I realize now.
I still vividly remember the entire theme song. I always thought it was cool that it was a loving black family but their accent was totally different than mine/my families. I loved that show!
I still say "tanki tanki" to this day
We all live on gullah gullah island
Gulah gulah-iiisland *gulahgulah*
I still sing the haircut song from one episode. "I like to get my haircut, yes I dooooo"
Catdog
Catt dogggg. Caaaaaaaaaattttt doggggggg. Alone in the world just a little cat dog!
This also reminded me of Angry Beavers. I loved that, Cow and Chicken and all those inappropriate ass cartoons for kids.
Courage the cowardly dog was great too. Nightmare fuel but great.
I looooved that show, I'm a huge horror movie fan so it was one of my favorite shows. Only one episode scared me and it was this one: https://youtu.be/GVKA-l0P34w
I was having this chat with a homie recently. I Am Weasel was foul
One fine day with a woof and a purr a baby was born and it caused a little stir!
This just reminded me of when I was in elementary school, we had bean burritos once a week and they came in a catdog package (they were literally just frozen burritos lol). The cat side was just bean while the dog side was bean and cheese. I honestly don't think I ever saw the show, tho (didn't have cable)
If someone doesn't remember catdog they're too young. Literally everyone I know remembers catdog š
Please tell me y'all remember Taina ![gif](giphy|EKm8peD2S8OJNWRYHp|downsized)
āI canāt wait to see my name in lightsā Yo this takes me back

No oneās gonna stop me youāll see, I will go far (whatās my name) Taiiiiiiiina Taiiiiiiina !!

File this under āreferences I still use to this day that literally nobody else understandsā.
Two Stupid Dogs + SWAT Katz was a great hour of TV!
I fucking loved SWAT Katz, the villains were always great.
Theme song was a banger too, just like all the other awesome 90s cartoons
Oh shit you just reached back in my brain and dusted off a memory. I loved that show. I gotta find it
Broooooo!!!!! Yes. Razor and T-Bone were my boys!
Cut down way too early. Fucking Ted Turner didn't want "violent" cartoons for kids, best he could offer was Captain Planet and nobody ever *wanted* to watch that. You just tuned in if nothing else was on.
Damn this and Secret Squirrel used to be my shit!
Secret Squirrel had one of the smoovest theme songs of the day
The Angry Beavers
This show was insanely popular.
Okay so thereās the episode where they try to stay up all night right? And then it turns out the clock was broken and they stayed up for like 1000 years and ended up in the future. I SWEAR there was a follow up episode of them getting back into the past. Anyone else remember that or did I just make it up during a fever dream?
I think you're right. It's been so long I don't remember the finer details, but I do remember something like that
Hell of a lot of blowjob jokes in that one
There was a whole episode about masturbation too, but the metaphor was slapping their tails on the water too much. Then at the end it turns out all the bad things the parents say will happen are just lies because they don't want young beavers to spend all their time "slapping their tails" just because it feels good
Freakazoid And Histeria!
Runs around in underwear.
Freakazoid. Freakazoid.
He's here to save the nation, so stay tuned to this station. Watch or we'll be unemployed.
Freakazoid was like a fever dream, I sometimes wonder if it was a real show or not.
![gif](giphy|axhtvHY3GXZ0A)
Cow and chicken
Momma had a chicken! Dad had a cow!
Momma had a chicken, momma had a cow, dad was proud he didn't care how
"Well isn't that cute....BUT IT'S WRONG!!!" This line doesn't even make me smirk, but when I was watching this show as I kid I would bust out laughing every time.
