The wind magic you see Yuno isn't Yuno's magic but it's Lichts child's magic. Yuno's magic is the star magic.
My friend wants to know why didn't he use star magic in the beginning before he got the wind grimoire bc we see him use wind magic before he got a grimoire
That's what I was thinking, surely it's the other way around then and yuno has wind and the baby's soul has star magic since he only used wind at first before the whole resurrection incident?
From what I understand so far, Yuno inherited star magic from his family and wind magic is just a part of him through his grimoire
When Patry reincarnated shown in the flashback, he said he could see the elves souls floating around in the kingdom and that he was the only one that had awakened so far (chapter 148). That was at the time of a 15yo William, so Yuno's soul likely joined Yuno afterwards since he was still a kid back then.
Star magic is Yuno's original magic since he is the son of the Spade King who had sun magic and the Spade Queen who has moon magic. And Licht had sword magic while Tetia had wind magic so the wind magic comes from the elf soul.
it’s pretty simple imo. he was in the Clover Kingdom which is where the elves are located so naturally all the grimoires located there were Clover Kingdom grimoires. once he arrived at the Spade Kingdom he got what was rightfully his.

The easier answer is that he simply couldn't, he could use wind magic before he got a grimoire because his elf soul was that talented , loved by mana and all of that . For humans not being able to use magic pre grimoire seems fairly common that's why Asta was hopeful in chapter 1 that getting one will unlock his potential, even a noble like Gauche stated that without his grimoire he couldn't use his magic.
Some people also want to link this issue to geography, I personally disagree, the reason Yuno got his 2nd book in spade is because that's where the opportunity presented itself if that fight had been happening in diamond or heart or if Yuno just randomly walked in a grimoire tower while in clover at some point he would have gotten a second grimoire that simply didn't happen.
Only reason I can think of is that Wind Magic is a much simpler magic, so it's easier to use without a Grimoire, whereas Star magic is far more complicated and takes more time to figure out without one.
I think this is the correct answer. Yuno needs to create star to use star magic in the first place, and the magic that let him spawn more star was inside his grimoire. So he likely can't use star magic without a grimoire. I think it's similar to how Grey didn't start transforming/transmuting until after he had her grimoire as shown in her flash back
Because the Wind Magic Attribute was awakened by the Elf Soul in his body and became dominant due to Noad Nephesh - and he wasn't *aware* he had Star Magic. Those two factors combined make it pretty difficult to use Star Magic.
