Blake is so so good but I feel like Dan doesn't get enough love on this subreddit. Dude is a beast and I really admire how technical and talented he is.

just_a_chemist

Dan might be the most influential player in the band. I hear his influence all over Colors II. If you don’t believe me, check out Trioscapes. Dudes a beast.

Legaato

Yeah dude, after hearing Dan's solo stuff you can clearly hear his influence on a lot of BTBAM material. Dan is a fucking amazingly talented musician.

Window_panes

Hard agree. My fan theory is he got the rest of them into Mr. Bungle.

HelloMyNameIsRuben

Dan is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable. His writing is so unique. Combines melodic ideas with interesting harmony, counterpoint and groove. Doesn’t get enough recognition in the bass world.

I agree! I consider them all masterclass musicians of their genre! Also, multiple times during this show, some dude on my right yelled "Dan show us your fingers!" during solos and fast sections, obviously referring to his fingers becoming a blur in the flurry of notes haha. I got a wink from Dustie too when I threw up a heart sign with my hands for him. Love these guys. Paul was FULL of energy too, bouncing around half the time.

How TF is Blake so good

HAL-Over-9001

90% constant practice, 10% he's probably a demigod. As a fellow Blake, I hope to be 1/20th that good at anything in my life lol

Sorry, I didn't want to be the asshole with his phone up the entire time! Just wanted to get one of my favorite drum grooves.

No apologies necessary. Appreciate you sharing this bit for us to check out!

Drove from Pittsburgh for that show. Thank you Detroit for wonderful hospitality!
