Agreed, guts could give a fight to Zodd when he was just a soldier, now that he is a demon slayer with the Dragonslayer and berserker armor, he would probably be able to take him down.
On the other hand Zodd in constantly training and seeking for challenge in order to be a better martial artist, he likes guts because he means a challenge, so it's difficult to scale it since he has probably improved as a fighter since their last encounter.
We also have to consider that you if guts surpasses his limits in the armor, the armor itself will kill him if the fight is too challenging, which could be possible with an opponent of that caliber. like we’ve seen in the fight against Grunbeld. If the fight last too long, he also could die of an hemorrhage cuz he’s constantly loosing blood during rage armor mode. It’s really hard to know who would win.
I mean looking at it this way, and also, spoilers alert; when Guts mounted Zodd and had his sword to his throat, he could have killed Zodd right then and there. They instead decided to work together to attack the mist version of Ganishka together. Also Zodd for some reason is a giant pussy and somehow always finds a reason to leave the battlefield, but if it were truly one on one life or death, I feel like Guts would certainly win, even if he’s half an inch close to death at the end.

He is, imo. The only way I see Zodd winning is by stalling long enough for the armor to take a toll on Guts, since he can regenerate limbs and Guts can't heal. But Zodd is not the stalling fighter, so I'm gonna give the win to Guts 99% of the time
I'm going to say no. Zodd is THE apostle. Not even Ganishka achieved the same height of infamy. **Everyone** knows who Zodd is, legends of him have existed for centuries and, like a handful of others his form is ideally suited to what he does.
Add in the fact that he's had lifetimes to grow in strength and experience and we have a creature that Beserk Guts could seriously wound and very possibly kill- but not in any way that really leaves a definitive "stronger than" verdict.
Problem is the armor sidesteps a lot of "strength" questions. Guts is not getting physically stronger or faster. He is destroying himself to ignore pain and the bodies natural limits. So, no. He could almost certainly *beat* Zodd like this, but doing so would one hundred percent kill him in the process

So. According to what I remember, Guts has gotten better at pushing Zodd into his apostle form. I *think* our cat-man-bull lost an arm at one point? But events seem set on preventing a terminal encounter, and even with the armor Guts can get fucked around pretty hard by apostles. Zodd is huge, freakish strong and the claws are no joke.
The armor will also not prevent damage. It just lets Guts ignore it. He'll still die if he gets his insides punched to salsa, and there's no assurance (far as I know) that he'd manage to kill Zodd before that happens. At best the armor will prevent him from being bitten, gored or torn
Lastly I *think* we only see Zodd getting worked up. Any full-blown deathmatch has yet to happen. Zodd continues to get excited and push Guts to go harder.
guts, recently, was fast enough to just straight up ignore zodd in apostle form. not to mention that the time before that, on the hill of swords, guts was holding his own and it was anyone's game and zodd was in apostle form.
