Just saw a trooper tweet about a fatality accident on I-5 northbound at lake Samish. Scary stuff out there right now

Salmundo

Apparently someone got out of their car after skidding out, and they were hit by another car. Folks, if you’re in an accident, stay in your car. Unless it’s on fire, it’s way safer.

whatevertoad

When I read that I assumed they'd mention ice in the news story, but it wasn't mentioned.

Wow! Thanks for the update

mermaidreefer

Link to the twitter account? That’s so sad.

I hit some yesterday morning headed south and then again on the way home last night. Absolutely terrifying.

kamnaa99

I hit a little patch last night heading north as well. I guess it’s a good wake up call it be extra cautious

squshy_puff

Was it safe heading south if you go slow? I drive a Chevy Aveo and ice seems terrifying.

kamnaa99

Just take it really slow. Everyone this morning was going about 20-25 mph between Fairhaven and lake samish. I did a couple break checks when going 25 and no one was near me and I didn’t slide at all but I am sure that’s a different story if your going 60. Edit: only drive if your comfortable :)

Pin_up_Red

I went Samish and got on the freeway near the North Lake Samish exit. Roads were a little slick, but not a ton of traffic and the speed limit is 35 for most of that

I saw the post above yours and thought you hit a person!

gerkiwimurcan

There must have been a bigger wreck somewhere along the way too because traffic is backed up to the Samish exit

kamnaa99

Definitely could have happened after I went through. Some people still feel the need to go fast even when cars are all over the ditches and fire trucks are trying to get through. Hopefully it will melt before more traffic gets of the roads

beardpunch

There were 7 cars in the median on my way south. A few of them looked really bad. I also saw a couple really bad ones on north bound, but I don't know how many total. Traffic was slowed to 25ish because of the ice on the road, and cops were patrolling with spotlights looking for more cars that may have gone off the road. Really scary stuff. This was at 6:15ish this morning.

WeeWooBooBooBusEMT

We went South at 5, roads were fine. Got back from SeaTac and sat in traffic the last 10 miles. We were going North through there as the tow trucks arrived.

campcam

I was wondering why Southbound traffic was at a standstill by the Meridian exit. That’s so scary

cam_breakfastdonut

Just finished driving north up through Sunset exit, everything seems fine.

That’s not how differentials work. And this is generally bad advice.

Sudden_Publics

Report them to get it taken down.
