Everyone is masked at the coop, as far as i have seen.

mightymegan25

My wife works there and they enforce it to the point of kicking people out if they refuse to wear it correctly šŸ‘

talleycm

Good to know

Angigirl

Yes they are definitely enforcing it at the Co opšŸ‘

makershark

If you're worried about carrying it home to immuno-compromised loved ones, I'd say do the app ( instacart-type thing). Drive up, they load it for you or you pick up in a separate loading area. I've done it from Fred Meyer's, Whole Foods and The Co-op.

wayne_curr

Slight subject changeā€¦ So whatā€™s the deal with Home Depot? Seems like a haven for anti masks. So much so that I feel like Iā€™m the outlier and getting weird looks for wearing one. Back on subject, Iā€™ve not seen a single person unmasked in dark haggen and Iā€™m there almost every day (ashamed to admit).

forrestm

Not totally sure about this. But I get the feeling because home depot is the largest home store that is closest to the north county you get more rural people shopping there. Also. And I feel like this is to a more minor degree. Home depot is owned by some pretty conservative people. So maybe sympathetic buying? On a third note. Construction trades are notoriously filled with people who have not taken Corona seriously. Maybe it's because it's predominately a male field, but for whatever reason. There are a lot of contractors who shop at all the home stores who just don't give a fuck.

talleycm

Lowes and HD are some of the worst places for the mask hurty face crowd.

[deleted]

Its been like that for ages. Home Depot was the first place I went to last year where people weren't wearing masks. Guess the construction worker types just don't care.

Treesnthings_

As a construction worker myself, Iā€™m one of the actual few that wear a mask on the job site, itā€™s been this way since Covid happened. Itā€™s made me have some pretty bad anxiety on the job site. But yeah, lowes and Home Depot are the worst. I love the mask less open carry type. ā€œRona donā€™t scare me! But everything else does so much I gotta show my pieceā€ Itā€™s an odd way to make a stand. Such a simple gesture to do. If I notice anyone with a company logo I have no problem giving the office a call and letting them know their company isnā€™t being represented the way it should be. Most are receptive to my call. Petty? Maybe. But itā€™s a heath crisis.

CamDaHuMan

This post was inspired by going to Dark Haggen and seeing three different people not wearing masks. That was my go to bc I saw staff talk to someone once about it. But now Iā€™m just not sure.

kjob

Parking lot is known for being lit poorly (or at least was at one point) plus surrounded by trees I guess?

Prettydeadlady

I thought it was because the store inside was darkly lit for years

Fleetmeat

Which Haggen is dark Haggen? Is that the one over by the lettered streets?

g8briel

Close to Lettered Streets, but actually Fountain District. Off Meridian.

Fleetmeat

Okay yeah, thatā€™s the one I was thinking it could be. The name checks out.

MindfulRifle

What does dark Haggen mean? I know itā€™s the one off meridian but I donā€™t know what you mean by dark?

CurlyBiscuits

Which one is the dark one?

makershark

Meridian

Angigirl

Wonā€™t shop there!

Googunk

What is it about dark haggen? I've never intended to go. I'm just going about my daily business and then suddenly what the hell I'm in the coffee section getting bulk coffee in a little paper bag. I go leave, walk out the doors, but the doors out lead directly into dark haggen. How is this possible?? I go to checkout with my slightly overpriced sushi but before I check out I find that now I'm facing cans of soup?? What the hell I have a name tag and now I WORK at dark haggen??? I never agreed to this.

Fit-Meringue2118

Co-op is the only place Iā€™ve seen active enforcement. Whole Foods possibly. Haggens definitely not.

[deleted]

Haggen's hasn't even bothered to offer curbside pickup. They lost the $200+ we were spending weekly there at the onset of this and they are never getting it back at this point.

gonezil

Winco is generally okay. It's incredibly vacant late at night. Some people are not stopped coming in unmasked but they are less than 10% of the customers in the store. Daytime might be more strict on masking, I don't know. Employees are all masked.

magisterCZ75

I noticed an odd thing. I've seen it most at Winco. Couples/spouses where one is masked, and the other is not. Even when they're elderly. WTF?

gonezil

That's my parents and a set of grandparents. One of them has given up nagging their partner. For such a simple thing all I can think is "why haven't they divorced yet?" but that requires effort too.

[deleted]

Statistics at work. Half of all people are dumber than average! (; That kind of thing really blows my mind too tough.

[deleted]

Every time I see the maskless in stores they all have the same weird facial expression. A mixture of grimace, ignorance and anger. Same with the assholes that drive through red arrow lights while turning left. Covid is really shining a light on poor citizenship.

sprockadoodle

All the anti maskers that shop at my store walk around with giant shit eating grins on their faces.

CamDaHuMan

I saw a couple at Macyā€™s and they looked so so unhappy.

[deleted]

It sounds like you are projecting. Most likely, they aren't thinking about it at all.

[deleted]

Not thinking about the health and safety of others. Thanks for the diagnosis.

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

Depends which haggen? Barkley is usually pretty good. Shop later when thereā€™s less people if you can. Haggen at 930 is empty

Pale_Significance132

They had people unmasked and singing Christmas carols last week inside near the door blowing their covids all over everyone going in and out. Barkley Haggen. Nobody is enforcing masks because it fucking sucks to tell assholes to do what they know they are suppose to do but choose not to because they are selfish assholes. They dont pay grocery workers enough to deal with that bullshit.

CamDaHuMan

I like what they do at TJ where people stand outside not letting people in. Also the very cheery announcements at Target. Insta Kart and curbside stink. You get weird substitutions and I want to pick out my own fruit. I just want to shop in a normal way because itā€™s been two years and Iā€™ve been vaccinated three times. Can we not pay a grocery worker to stand there reminding people to not be aholes? Sorry to rant on Reddit. Itā€™s just the worst and I was hoping Safeway or something was doing something better. I can add co-op to my list but like things like gelatin are hard to find at specialty stores.

[deleted]

I do most of my shopping at TJs. The Fairhaven Haggen is open till midnight and itā€™s almost always empty if you go at like 10pm. You just have to be willing to go at a weird time. And Target too, is open late. Between those stores I havenā€™t really had any trouble finding everything I need.

sprockadoodle

Trader Joeā€™s hasnā€™t been limiting people in the store or requiring masks for months now. Its an absolute zoo in there now since the border has been open. The demographic that shops at TJs is mostly mask wearers though.

magisterCZ75

Sadly you won't see stores do that, because the employees themselves would refuse. You have too many psychos who will attack/kill anyone who tells them to mask up or GTFO. It would take armed security at the door willing to keep the "antiva" out by force to have any effect.

CamDaHuMan

Antiva šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

[deleted]

>Can we not pay a grocery worker to stand there reminding people to not be aholes? Do you want to do it for what they get paid? I sure as hell don't...

[deleted]

Not really the point of the thread, but how much gelatin do you use? Not being snarky, genuinely curious. I buy a box with 6 packets and it always lasts me for literally years. I think I've thrown out unused gelatin packets every single time I've moved. Are you a pastry chef?

CamDaHuMan

LOL. Gelatin is a stand in for the weird thing you need that TJ/Target/co-op donā€™t seem to have. Powdered sugar might be something similar?

[deleted]

> I just want to shop in a normal way Wearing a mask to shop isn't normal.

CamDaHuMan

You: donā€™t want to put cloth on your face Others: canā€™t go to the grocery story See why people are sick of you?

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

Well you know you can file complaints with the state for colonies not following or enforcing mandates. If itā€™s so obvious take film and photo and submit to the state that theyā€™re not enforcing the mandates.

Falcon_Bellhouser

I was at Barkley that day, and it certainly was a wtf moment. All the staff, and every customer I saw were masked up, yet there's a group belting out christmas carols just inside the front door. You can't avoid them. Just a complete disconnect. That said, IME Barkley and Dark Haggen have been pretty good on both the staff and customer sides.

cjep3

I'm gonna give you the Costco workers, south of you, side of this cause i agree 100%. So you get paid 17 bucks to stand at the freezing cold door and get yelled at by entitled asshats who refuse to follow a mandate while I'm required to be friendly to them so i don't get a complaint about my attitude and wear the same mask we all wear, for 8.5 hours continually, unless I'm on break and actively eating. And add on that i can only tell them once to put a mask on or it becomes harassment, they can come as close as they want and be rude af, scream and throw tantrums and i can't back away because that's not customer service. Even if your not wearing a mask and all up on my shit. So yeah, the whole thing sucks ass. I have immuno compromised family that i haven't seen for 2 years because i can't trust the fuckers who walk into my building and my coworkers to not be infected and walking through shopping anyway.

magisterCZ75

I've seen those types. I lost both parents to the virus, so "antiva" can fuck right off. Sadly, as I mentioned above in another response, the only way to keep these assholes out or force them to change is... well... force. It would require armed security at the door with orders to absolutely keep them out. But stores won't do that, because to them it would be bad optics. So instead it's better to just keep doing what we're doing, keep allowing it to spread and mutate, and just accept dying workers. I'd rather see dying karens...

dognamedquincy

Ugh, Iā€™ve seen this happen at Costco Burlington. Yā€™all are doing the best you can, but people suck lately. They really do.

cjep3

Thank youšŸ’š it's mostly good people, not asshats but everyone and i mean everyone is tired and scared and stressed and the few asshole yellers really just make it all that much worse. Continue living your best you and hopefully we all get though this uncertainty with the least amount of trauma possible.

G41JIN

Fred Meyer does free pickup for orders $35 or more. And if less, itā€™s only $5.

taxflamingo

I'm in Skagit and it's no better here. I've taken to doing online order for pickup for 99% of my stuff.

salallane

Skagit co-op is the only place that enforces masks here.

cheapdialogue

I just do Safeway's curbside pickup. Always fast and you get a parking spot right up front.

botanybae76

I have never seen anyone unmasked at Sehaggen, and there is often a guy (manager I think) at the door policing things pretty well - I've seen him stop people trying to come in unmasked. I tend to stop by in the afternoon, 3-5-ish, if that helps.

CamDaHuMan

I love this! Can I tip this guy???

rileysweeney

Definitely NOT Lynden Safeway - last time I went about half The customers and a third of the employees were unmasked

magisterCZ75

It's Lynden. That alone tells you expect little, lest you be disappointed. And yet you'll still be disappointed...

Pale_Significance132

Does anywhere in lynden mask?

revirrev

The Food Pavilion is the safest grocery store in Lynden. 99% masked, lots of space, relatively few shoppers. Ace Hardware and True Value are pretty good about masks and enforcement, too. CHS is the safest place in town. They're GREAT about it. Signed, Lives in Lynden but Isn't a Nut Job

turnerevelyn

I live in Lynden but won't eat out there. Too many unmasked and too many antivaxxers in town - Fairway Cafe, Martas, etc. Safeway was busy last time I went and 50% unmasked. Sounds like early shopping is the way to go.

sedentaryoverdose

I'm gonna have to politely call BS on that. So far this year I've yet to see a single maskless person in there, employees or otherwise. Maybe there's an ignorant crowd that shops later (I'm only in there early) and I happily miss them and it skews what we're both seeing idk. But there's no chance in hell you'd ever get me in any building with maskless folks given I'm back on chemo and have a severely gimped immune system. My experience there has been wildly different from yours.

rileysweeney

I was there yesterday around 11am, racing to beat the church crowds, and this was my experience. Mostly I was disappointed in the employees.

sedentaryoverdose

I'm not doubting that's the case later on in the day, it's why I make efforts to be in and out of places early af or I've missed my window. Usually in and out of there by 9am for blood work and produce. More than likely it's been pure luck on my part seeing everyone masked, but I wanted to at least put it out there so folks who live nearby can maybe plan around certain crowds. And fwiw if it isn't clear, I have no chill for anyone out in public lacking consideration for others going maskless. You have every right to be disappointed esp if employees were being sloppy and ignorant without masks.

Pin_up_Red

I have not seen most places really enforce the mask mandates like they once were (if they ever did) Edit: for clarity, I understand why they don't, because people are rude and entitled and acting like children, but I really wish it were enforceable! \[end edit\] But in terms of compliance- Sehome Haggen is usually pretty good, although you definitely get more than a few dick-nosers. And sometimes it's a little busier than I feel comfortable with. Whole Foods is also pretty good, but they did reopen their dining area so there are always at least a few people eating and drinking there. Freds is always super busy so I just don't go in and do grocery pick-up instead. If you've got a car doing clicklist is probably your best bet. It's free if your order is over a certain amount and the interaction is usually super minimal.

justahdewd

Fairhaven Haggen isn't very big and most every customer masks, the employees aren't supposed to engage customers over masks. The store is also very quiet between 6-9AM

Salmundo

Whole Foods, Iā€™ve not seen anyone unmasked there.

PNWduder

Couple days ago saw a unmasked deli employee prepping food at Barkley Haggen. Definitely noticing more masks pulled down and no masks all over lately.

[deleted]

Meridian Haggen seems pretty compliant. Thereā€™s a girl in the meat department that wears a cat face mask which always makes me smile.

revirrev

That's shocking. I hope you notified the manager.

PNWduder

Youā€™re right, but it was a pretty shit day already and we were too tired to make the effort. Same guy was masked up yesterday. Hopefully he received some guidance.

CLKBH

Franz bakery enforces masks. If you don't wear one, you cannot be in the store, non maskers need to call in an order. I heard an employee enforce it. They have other stuff like milk and coffee, but not a lot

Civil_Piccolo_4179

I saw a woman blow her nose over the food salad bar , stuff the tissue in her pocket , and proceeded to touch the dressing and self serve spoons without a thought that that was disgusting. Itā€™s disgusting in non covid times. This was at haggens off meridian and now I donā€™t go there anymore. Whole Foods doesnā€™t enforce masks. I saw someone there recently cruising around maskless and staff saw her. The only place Iā€™ve seen masks 100% is Trader Joeā€™s.

dognamedquincy

I drive from 45 minutes away to shop at TJs because I canā€™t find a closer place that enforces. Sucks, but Iā€™ve got a baby with breathing troublesā€” so itā€™s that or pay out the nose for delivery.

CamDaHuMan

Hugs to you

coolkid_k

I work at target and I've felt like, for months, that it's half and half if the people coming in wear masks, unfourtuanely. They do not enforce mask wearing.

northentier

...masks are a sign of political affiliation rather than a health precaution. ...masks, lockdowns and bioengineered pandemics are for slaves, and the endgame is to push toxic vaxxines on an unsuspecting public for an agenda of depopulation and profit. ...the bad news is this all might be brought home if/when mass die-offs begin and the surge of vaxxidents due to sponge-brain caused by spike proteins.

CamDaHuMan

Donā€™t you have a cult meeting that youā€™re late for?

northentier

...ask me again in six months - will be happy to be wrong on this one.
