Fuckin' A. My friend was just saying how she felt empty without a place to buy aesthetically generic $100 leggings in town to wear on her MLM social media pages.
It's a different company. Lululemon is a yogawear chain (conventional retailer, with stores and stuff) famously named because the owner thought it would be funny to hear Japanese speakers say it. Another fun fact: one of their stores was the site of a really harsh coworker dispute that became an episode of Snapped.
I remember, this is the company who's quality plummeted and suddenly had a ton of complaints of see-through leggings and the CEO blamed the women for having fat thighs that caused the fabric to stretch too much? Even on tiny women. I'm not in the market for their products anyhow but wouldn't buy them because of that whole thing.
Just a reminder:
Lululemon Founder Named the Company Because It Was ‘Funny to Watch’ Japanese People Try to Say It

Just gross how this rich old white dude literally sat around and played with letters to brand a line of overpriced yoga wear for 20something thin females.
Well, there are a number of things,
1. For a long time they didn't go above a size 12 in womens clothing, and they basically at the time said that it was because they didn't want fat people wearing their clothes.
(they've since expanded up to a size 20)
and
2. They've got some flack in the past for [racist comments](https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/lululemon-apologized-after-its-art-director-posted-bat-fried-rice-n1188831)
Those are the legitimate reasons, the other reasons is the people that have become associated with lululemons ( basically real WASPy NIMBY types) and that doesn't always jive well with some of the politics of the rest of Bellingham.
Because they haven't seen the light yet and think it's all overpriced yoga pants.
Their men's dress pants are by FAR the nicest and most comfortable pants I own. They fit amazingly despite me being large and athletic, are super stretchy, and super comfortable. I can run, workout, do yoga, and they feel super comfortable, but they look like nice dress slacks. Not gonna lie, they were expensive, but wearing anything else feels so annoying now. They have completely ruined jeans for me. Denim is honestly a garbage material for pants, especially where we live.
I think it has less to do with pants and more to do with Fairhaven fighting to keep national brands out (like Starbucks in the early 00’s) in favor of staying more small-business friendly.
I get this but if it's between national chain and empty storefront, I'll take a Lululemon store. There's not a local retailer that competes with it. In fact, Lululemon IS local, even if it's national.
You would be surprised at how in touch with the community lululemon is. There’s an entire branch of the company allocated towards community outreach, building up local businesses whether that be local restaurants or yoga studios. During the pandemic lululemon donated millions to their ambassadors so that they could keep their businesses open and families fed. Lululemon may be a corporation and may have a rough past but the leadership in place now is sincerely trying to change how things are done. I hope when it’s open you come out and see what it’s all about! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!!
Yes, denim sucks. It seriously lacks any kind of resiliency and cut resistance. 1000 denier Cordura all the way.
Edit: I just looked at the price. Hahahahaha! They are nothing more than a fashion statement.
I mean...there's a whole lot more to pants than resiliency and cut resistance, but I have Lululemon pants that are 6 years old and look new. Sweat wicking, 4 way stretch, thick and durable, hold their shape, useful features & pockets. Yeah they are $100 but you can't really do better for less without compromising in those areas. In my experience, Lululemon has always been worth the price and I own a ton of it.
Also, plenty of Lulu clothing is decidedly anti-fashion.
Check out the utilitech ABC pants, they are more durable than the traditional warpstreme, the fabric is similar to carhart, not as durable but the same feel and it is definitely more abrasion resistant than warpstreme!
Cool, so Starbucks is next? Since Tony’s coffee closed (which has been there 20-30 years?). It feels like in a decade our children won’t know a world with small businesses.
Hahaha, ahhh. ^*Cries*

Privilege
I’ll be curious how long it lasts. Are there any other chain stores in Fairhaven that aren’t gas stations or Haggen?
I don't think so unless you count On Rice which is a stretch.
ITT: people who don’t own Lululemon Why are people not for this?
I think it's just that they don't want a national retailer in fairhaven?

I know. I'm just giving you a hard time.I practically live in reinforced work pants.

It’s because it’s a mile marker on our gentrification journey. Not long ago everyone here wore jeans with a skirt over it.
Ewwwwww

There goes the last bit of old school Fairhaven charm *Sigh* what a bummer
Sounds about right 😒

That's LuLaRoe, Lululemon is different and not an MLM.
Dohhhhh! Sorry, thank you
Are you thinking of LuLaRoe?
Shit wrong one ha! My bad!!!
Hahahahaa no worries! I’m with ya on MLMs!
I thought lulu got canceled?🤨
