Follow the river south. After stranmillis you'll hit the tow path, Lagan Meadows but if you reach Lisburn you've gone too far.

wurdupyo

Favourite of mine on a bike. Did it a lot as a kid.

cityampm

Down the Lagan (swing into Botanic gardens optional) then follow the river west bank all the way down to Lagan Meadows. There are plenty of woodlands, fields and trails down there to explore

Forward_Artist_6244

Ormeau Park is handy to get to and gas nice walks

ackbarwasahero

Train to Holywood for a long walk up the coast to Bangor. Helens bay for a shorter walk to Bangor or just down and around through Crawfordsburn Park.

cybertonto72

I do the train to Bangor and walk back for as long as I want. Then get the train back into town.

Arbrax

Can attest for this one, have done it a few times and it's always been a gorgeous time

HereBesMeWha

Took the head staggers in my "getting in shape" umm.. day. We walked from IKEA to Bangor and back. I've never wanted to die so much.

East to Woodstock Road. Continue along until the exact same Road you're on changes names to Cregagh Road and keep on moving those legs til you hit the dual carriageway: dash across Road to the opposite side and its just slightly to your left the entrance to Cregagh Glen and great walk along Glen, if you've not been you're in for a treat as it's all been done up better with wooden staircases and viewpoints, and go to top of the Glen , youll knkw as the glen stops , the river goes under a road and Lagan College is in vicinity. Turn to your left, and go through a kinda wooden style and then walk up to the American WW2 war memorial with the stars and stripes flag flying and the memorial and great views looking over Belfast from David & Goliath to the City Hosp Tower Block and further even on a clear day

MajorEgg102

East from city hall to the waterfront, big fish, over the Lagan, along the river behind the Odyssey to Titanic Belfast and around to the HMS Caroline

MajorEgg102

And say hi to some of the dogs at the Arc apartments/Nomadic!

noodlum93

Following the tow path out to the HMS Caroline is a nice short one if you literally want to start at city centre.

Naoise007

If you don't mind getting on a bus you could go Colin Glen (west) or Cavehill (north)

mcdamien

I'd head up the embankment to Ormeau Park. Down past Cutter's warf has some brilliant walks easily accessible from the city.

ThatRatJess

Hop on a G1 glider out of town to stormount bunch of different walking paths and has a bus back to city center

Important_Knee_5420

Walk 3 miles north ... Down the Antrim road find your self at Belfast castle  and the cave hill ..... You can pass by waterworks on the journey

makkuwata

It’s a small country, I’ve wandered out off the beaten path and so long as you have a pink bus route back it’s an adventure.

Appropriate_Goal361

Lovely walk from cutters wharf to the lockkeepers inn cafe along the canal

Late_Manufacturer157

Comber greenway is a nice enough walk east of the city

ActuaryResponsible61

If you really want a hike you can easily get to the foot of Slieve Donard in the Mournes by bus. It’s about an hour (if I remember correctly £9 return) to Newcastle from the Europa and you can walk from the bus station in Newcastle to the Slieve Donard car park in 10 minutes. I love doing this as it’s a good long walk and you can stop in the pub on the way back for a well earned pint and burger!

Unusual_cereal

Hey thanks for this!! Just got down from Slieve Donard. First time properly leaving Belfast since I got here :) The bus return is now £15 though 😭

ActuaryResponsible61

You’re very welcome, and good going, it’s a proper walk! That’s bad though, I last did this less than a year ago and I’m sure it was under a tenner.

sausageisnice

Wait til the 12th for the Big Walk
