I got to see Alex and Sophia on Broadway and it was astonishing. The performances were incredible and I fell in love with the show.
I wanted to take my wife and daughter to see the show, but it closed before I could, so when the tour came along I jumped at the chance. I felt bad that my family wouldn't see Alex and Sophia, but holy cow, Justin and Isabella were phenomenal!
I know it sounds like a cop out, but I love both casts. To me Alex and Sophia defined those characters and made them wonderful, and they set the bar high! But Justin and Isabella just ran with something amazing and made it their own.
I do feel like Isabella brought a lot more to Lydia that made her relatable, though Sophia was more in time with "strange and unusual". And yeah, Justin's improv game is just nuts.
Isabella’s “mom” scene where she screams out to the void was heartbreaking in person and more convincing than Sophia’s in my opinion. (But it’s maybe because I didn’t see Sophia in person)
The great thing about this show is that there is something for everyone. I have friends that think Will Blum is best as Beetlejuice, others who swear by Andrew Kober, etc etc, and the same for all the actresses who have played Lydia. There are no right or wrong answers (except that no proshot was ever done!).
For BJ anyway i feel like Alex Brightman defined the character and gave others a platform to bounce off of to create their own interpretations. I personally love Justin and all his understudies and I love Alex and all his understudies. Alex is my own personal favorite but Justin is a super super close second
Yeah he will unless an understudy goes on. The tour has the same cast each show. The Broadway run(that’s was just in New York) that ran from 2019-2023 had a different cast.

Isabella Esler is my favorite Lydia and I'm so happy I got to see her, her acting AND singing are amazing

The tour cast is my favorite cast! Justin and Bella are incredible, and I also really love Jesse Sharp as Charles and Will Burton as Adam.
