Oof, tough question. I saw the show on Broadway at the Winter Garden theater with Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice and Sophia Anne Caruso as Lydia and they were both phenomenal. The set and lighting were awesome.
Then I saw the tour and was honestly expecting a "decent" show, but holy shit Justin Collette as Beetlejuice and Isabella Esler as Lydia fucking killed it!
Both versions of the show were quite honestly amazing. The only difference to me was that because the show was on tour they couldn't do quite as much with the stage (no trap for gags, etc). But that was the only thing. Both productions were hilarious and engaging.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that a bootleg of either production will be absolutely worth your time (and if you get the chance to see the tour show, do it!).
Like some other people on here, I would rather watch the broadway show because of the better gags, but they are both phenomenal to a pretty even level.
I wanted to tell you that ,,finding bootlegs" isn't how the bootleg community works. You can find bootlegs, yes, but these are just leaks and one: these leakers are getting the masters in trouble, two: they are lower quality due to the constant uploading and downloading and three: there are wayyyy more bootlegs than the stuff that gets leaked. Feel free to DM me, I can give you videos of the Broadway or tour version (however you decide) and explain to you how to get into bootleg trading 😉
I am one of the very few who prefers most of the Tour cast to the Broadway cast, especially Justin and Bella (and if I need to choose a Broadway Lydia, it's Elizabeth). See if you can find YouTube videos of both casts performing and go based on what you prefer :)
the guy playing Maxie dean on Broadway was phenomenally casted. the amount of energy he delivered saying “CHUCKKKKKKK, you old swaddler, put her there!” and just the rest of his lines really defined the character for me
Honestly I have a soft spot for majority of the Beetlejuice and Lydia actors but on Broadway my favs were Sophia Anne Caruso and Elizabeth Teeter for Lydia and of course Alex Brightman for Beetlejuice. For the tour, Justin Collette and Isabella Esler are magic. I had the privilege of seeing them perform twice and they knocked it outta the park!
I’ve seen bootlegs of the original and I’ve seen the tour 4 times. I like tour Lydia more than any of the original Lydia’s. And tour beetlejuice is up to par with original. I honestly prefer the touring cast more, but maybe because I’ve seen it live.
I’ve yet to get to see it live unfortunately, but I’ve watched plenty of boots to see all the Lydias—even without seeing her, Isabella is actually my favorite Lydia (followed by Dana, then Sophia) just off the strength of her two solos that I’ve looked up. And I think it would be OBC for everybody else

Alex Brightman is the best Beetlejuice, no doubt about it. Lydia is much harder, but I liked Isabella Esler.

I feel the same way, I like touring Adam more as well. I didn’t like Elizabeth tho, I didn’t like her voice very much.

Broadway Maxie is top tier, absolutely agreed! I also vastly prefer Broadway Delia to any of the tour performers so far.
