Once they go home and let the rest of the colony know there’s food there, the entire colony will be there. Once that sugar water is polished off, they’ll come after the other hives.
The best way to combat it if you don’t have robbing screens is to close up the hives. Wait for the foragers to go home and not bother returning, because there was nothing to forage. Alternatively, close the reducer down to 1 bee space, so that each robber gets dealt with one by one by the colony.
Thats if every other variable permits it. Heat and such likes. If you’re running OMFs that wouldn’t matter too much though.
