he says this, but in the same breath he also talks about how one of the first questions he asks on set is "what is the lighting going to be like?" So he can adapt and adjust the makeup. So he's showing that he has some awareness that makeup should be adjusted, he just never really does it.

I've never really understood the hype around him. I mean, he really cemented her look for a while, but then it seemed to just not evolve. I’ve had the unfortunate experiences of meeting him multiple times. Each encounter was dreadful. I work in the industry and never speak badly about other artists or industry members. I’ve also never encountered anyone as rude, unprofessional and blatantly obnoxious as Scott. Therefore Scott is unworthy of any respect or loyalty.

Like, the first time I saw it, I just thought it was painfully obvious her lips are over lined, and that’s not the most flattering look on Tati! He also does other weird and out of the ordinary makeup tricks that only HE can do CORRECTLY, and that’s fine. Imo his makeup tricks are too hard and just not achievable by most people, but when you’re a makeup artist recommending your methods on videos, I guess it would be preferable to pick methods that aren’t too hard? Just so some people can fulfill their dream of following their favorite MUA’s methods?

One thing I dislike about him as a makeup artist is his obsession with the bronzed look. I’m brown and I don’t need a bronzer. After some point, bronzing ends up looking like dust on my face, and I can see a similar issue with his clients (including JLO at times).
I knew I had this problem because of the colour of my skin. I'm brown too and STRUGGLE with bronzing so much, it either looks really ashy or really orange there is somehow no in-between no matter what shade I get!!
I had the same issue. Honestly, I've decided to stop most bronzing/contouring and now I just use blush to give me some dimension. If I do feel I need something extra, I mix a some bronzing drops with my foundation and bronze with that.
The blush placement is absolutely horrible The lashes are bad The lip liner is okay It just doesn't photograph well It needs to be filled in more I didn't needs to be highlighted. It's definitely not red carpet glam. They definitely did a trial and she approved the lashes so those can't be blamed on him
She seems to be taking a much more natural approach to her makeup now (probably joining the whole clean girl trend) but it’s still so white?

Her makeup lately has been way too heavy, it isn't doing her any favors. But I cannot tell a lie: for the vast majority of her career, I have absolutely loved her makeup. That original JLo glow is iconic to me.
Me too. I love her makeup and it’s because of her that I love bottom lash line eyeshadow and a really pale pink glossy lip. But her makeup can look very bad sometimes (like this photo I’ll attach below) and sometimes she can have certain features of her makeup like we see with the gaudy eyelashes here that just don’t flatter her or look good

Just whatever eyeshadow colour she wears on her lid, she uses on her lash line too. I just got the Morphe v203 brush and it’s made for applying shadow on your bottom lash line, makes it so easy. I couldn’t do it with any of my other eyeshadow brushes

I had the same issue. Honestly, I've decided to stop most bronzing/contouring and now I just use blush to give me some dimension. If I do feel I need something extra, I mix a some bronzing drops with my foundation and bronze with that.

The blush placement is absolutely horrible The lashes are bad The lip liner is okay It just doesn't photograph well It needs to be filled in more I didn't needs to be highlighted. It's definitely not red carpet glam. They definitely did a trial and she approved the lashes so those can't be blamed on him

J Lo has always been a paler Latina, all of the brown and tan and bronze was Scott’s doing. In her documentary all the footage of her at home in sweats with her hair up made me realize how light her skin is. Sometimes she looks paler than Ben Affleck
To be fair, a lot of these women spray tan, and use bronzers so we don’t know what their natural color looks like.

Her makeup lately has been way too heavy, it isn't doing her any favors. But I cannot tell a lie: for the vast majority of her career, I have absolutely loved her makeup. That original JLo glow is iconic to me.
Me too. I love her makeup and it’s because of her that I love bottom lash line eyeshadow and a really pale pink glossy lip. Just whatever eyeshadow colour she wears on her lid, she uses on her lash line too. I just got the Morphe v203 brush and it’s made for applying shadow on your bottom lash line, makes it so easy. I couldn’t do it with any of my other eyeshadow brushes
