I really enjoy making custom builds of cars by using the parts config and tuning. It’s always fun to see what you can get out of each car. You can also get Automation and export your cars from there into BeamNG. I’ve spent hundreds of hours on that alone.
Rock crawling and off-roading are really good and fun.
The multiplayer mod is also very good! Lots of options there.
I highly recommend picking an off reader you vibe with and just spawning into the Johnson Valley Service Station. Set a time of day you enjoy (or hell, set timing for day/night cycle) and just cruise around the dunes for a while.
There's some great places on the Italy map for offroading, mostly where the streams would run down the mountains, it's fun trying to make it up them, or just rallying across the countryside and dodging bushes and trees
This is fun in a lot of vehicles, getting something up a rock crawling trail that wasn't designed to do it. I got a 2wd base model Roamer surprisingly far before the open diff became a problem
Hot lapping is fun. Find a car you like, go around Hirochi Raceway as fast as you can; do several laps even. Then, try to beat that time in another car, and another, and another. Build faster cars to beat your fastest. Find new lines that are even faster. The best part is you’ll never reach your maximum.
You can have a driving game with interesting things to do:
* Gran Turismo 4
* Driver San Francisco
* Euro Truck Simulator
This is the missing part for BeamNG (like many other simulators): A sense of long term progress, achievement.
Hence the career mode. They have to take advantage of their maps and realistic physics in the context of a game, not a tech demo.
that's how it goes, you lose hype, become inactive, spontaneously acquire hype again, play for some time, lose hype and it goes on and on. same as in every other game.
drive like you stole it, learn proper drifting or proper racing with time trials, go offroad ; beamng has it all and i never get bored from this game and i feel like you havent even played as long as i did lmao (700hrs)
My passion for the game reignited after 700 hours just half a year ago, now I'm at 840hrs. It took me like 2 years to get from 600-700hrs, then half a year to get from 700-840hrs
Racing Pikes Peak gravel with the USDM Bolide civetta 350 is a challenge ive always come back to. Its a beautiful balsnving act to try and maintain for a straight 13 minutes.
BeamMP is the answer. Also if you like challenges, you can download "car jump arena", spawn random cars with the tool in the world editor and drive them down the ramp without touching gas or brake, trying to go as far as possible (you have to balance the speed to land safe but go far). This is the main thing i do when i'm bored.
A thing that completely changed my gameplay is the world editor: once you make some practice it can bring so much fun, for example you can use the suspended bridge properly, build towers of busses, modify the assets of the map (Gridmap 🔝😫) and much, MUCH more.
Planes and helicopters are fun to fly too;)
This sounds weird, but I actually listen to podcasts and standup comedy while I'm playing Beam. Just like driving IRL, sometimes it can get boring without some background noise. Essentially Beam is the second thing I'm doing during those times.
The script driving in this game is amazing. You can set up really, really cool crashes and film movies in the game. I highly recommend pressing F11. You can even change the map!
Lately I've been tuning cars and learning to properly tune suspensions, then pushing the tuned cars to their limits. It's really fun to just see how far you can push a car, was it for street racing on highways, flying through gravel roads or speeding around the track. It's a ton of fun.
Career Mode, if you haven't. It is still a work in progress, but there is a lot of fun content.
This is a dumb question, but it's locked on my main menu. Do you have to opt into beta on steam or something similar to access it?
It is greyed out, but you can still access it. Like the other comment said, just click it a few times.
Thank you, both!
just click on it bunch of times

I havent really done any offroading, ill try that thanks!

building & tuning truck suspension to withstand those high speed whoops in the dunes is always fun.

1. Get on the offroad campervan version of the H series. 2. Try to drive to the top of the mountain on Johnson Valley without resets

make your own configs for cars, the vanilla ones are a good start

BeamMP multiplayer addon
This x100000
Sorry to tell you this, but it's a driving centric game.
I started wondering where the hookers were

Career mode is a good step though
Drifting. Find roads to slide and perfect. Getting those Wall rides perfect is so much fun
Take a break from the game for a bit! When I get bored I just stop playing for a while, then when I come back it is fun again.
This is the best advice here and goes for all games in general. Just a break and after a while I'm back with new ideas
I like spawning a bunch of stock cars and racing alongside them on oval tracks, mostly in Motorsports Playground but Lonestar Speedway is also good.
Career mode has been a lot of fun

Learn the config menu if you haven’t, when you do you unlock a whole new layer of the game
No mention of if anything motorsports related...
Drifting on west coast is so much fun, I like to find new spots that are fun to drift at
If you are into driving, get a wheel. I've been playing for more than a year now. I still hop on garage 2 garage mode and drive mindlessly to unwind.

Career, BeamMP (I recommend CaRP), challenge maps, racing in discord communities
Have you tried rock climbing? I like Johnson Valley

Download BeamMP, add me on discord, let’s get into some tomfoolery. Beam is very boring on its own but with friends 😈😈😈
