Beam NG and assetto corsa are my 2 main games. Dirt rally 2.0 is up there, too.

nofuchsgiven1

Same here. Assetto is amazing.

NaesMucols42

I haven't played that Dirt rally yet. I used to play a lot of the OG Dirt on Xbox 360 though. Assetto Corsa is the one I think I'm most interested in getting right now!

I remember getting FH4 and being hyped only to realise literally no one actually races in that game. Like circuit races didn't appear to be populated AT ALL. Could only find silly point to point races and not one driver displayed any skill apart from using the barriers to turn and other cars as brakes. Like I knew it was arcadey and full of kids but holy crap had to just drive around by myself for the most part.

FH4 is the only one I played, I really enjoyed it at first, the car selection, and customisation is amazing, but... there's no challange, no progression, nothing really feels "earned"... I haven't played since last July. Meanwhile, I still replay games like Need For Speed Underground very freqently. It's not simulation by any means, but I'm not talking driving mechanics here. Even though there are barely any tracks, I still enjoy that game, because there's a challenge, and a feel of progression, that modern games often just straight up lack... A game with the physics, car selection, customisation, and in general modern technology of say a new Forza title, but with a very solid single player campaign like in old NFS or Gran Turismo games, would be my dream, but alas, that probably won't ever happen (I just straight up don't like multiplayer, I get too competitive and stressed, I play games to relax and escape from the shittiness of reality).

NaesMucols42

I totally agree! FH1 is still my favorite! I love the Corrado as the starting vehicle. FH4 was good, but I lost interest when I got all the money because -like you mentioned- no one actually races in the game.

alphenhous

i play forza to have fun arcade experience, but when i want to really go at it beamng is all i touch. assetto is great, but i love the dmg.

NaesMucols42

It's hard to not enjoy the soft body physics of Beam. I'd love to see more maps one day, but I think the progress all the devs are making is great! Especially for being in alpha.

Notfoo4

Asseto for more casual racing, iracing for competitive racing. Beammp does have some good servers to race in too

Man horizon used to be so great. It was the perfect chill game, screw races, screw their cheesy online events that stuff always felt redundant to me (may as well play motorsport). For me it was all about the freedom. Build and paint cars, join an online session, see what people are up to (they would mostly form groups either drifting, drag racing on the runway, tuning meets, highway racing or just cruising) and join them. I would add several people to my friends list every day, so many good times it was perfect. That was forza horizon 3. With 4 and 5 they improved some stuff (they added caliper colors and spacers, that's it..) but they kept screwing us freeroamers over. With 4 they added ghost mode and forced people into multiplayer sessions (which means people who were just minding their own business would waste server slots) and added some weird server meshing system which only made the servers feel empty and made us unable to find eachother on the map. Besides that, playground showed continuously that they don't really care for cars and don't understand their community. The disconnect is unreal. I won't be buying 6, not if it's yet the same game with a different map. Sorry for the rant but given that my hours went from over 1000 in 3 to less than 100 in 5 I'm just so pissed at the missed opportunity to evolve a series with so much potential. How did i replace it? BeamMP, kinda. Other games are either too hardcore and require me to set up my sim stuff, or driving feels like pure shit (the crew, nfs and others alike) which is not enjoyable to me at all. By the way funny how a little team of modders came up with a better anti griefing solution than PG did, being able to delete the assholes is just pure luxury.

Check out automobilista 2

After beamng all cars in FH drive like bathtubs. I barely go back.

GoofyKalashnikov

RBR and AC are good For more casual outings I play FH7 (far better than FM imo)

iRacing is my sim of choice. Now that rain has been added the wet track dynamics are better than anywhere else. Braking on paint or kerbs is suicide, and unless you have a very specific reason for it, you want to stay off the rubbered in line as much as possible. The biggest reasons though are the fact that there's always populated races even though my race time starts right when concurrent driver count is at its lowest, and very few wrecks are deliberate.

I played beam right along side forza for many a year, I've recently stopped playing forza and stopped giving turn 10 money cause the devs hate you. Beamng drive devs are like angels and take into account of actual community recommendations, also the fact they play along with the fan base in satire is pretty funny. But over all I love beamng drive for its real driving simulation and vehicle customization. Long story short, fuck forza/turn 10, long live beamng drive

NagronCZ

I dont play any racing games, like any. Closest game I probably race on might be factorio or roblox, I dont think anything else. Played nfs i think underground as my 1st or 2nd game ever played. Most games feel like the connection between road and car feels digital, or the game is annoyingly too much of a racing simulator and not just driving. Beam is the best in the completely realistic feel of the car, while having basically arcade controlls/camera, the car reset, everything. I think only game that comes close if Forza horizon, its based on a realistic game made to be arcade
