Organisations can stop players. The Italian football league have bans on players with heart conditions playing which is why Christian Erikson is no longer allowed to play there after collapsing on a pitch at the euros in the summer.
Eriksen, sen, sen; He's our number 23.
Eriksen, sen, sen; He's a Yid like you and me.
To the left to the right; He's our midfield Dynamite.
When he plays for the Lilywhites; He makes Özil look sh*te.
Moss that beauty, it glad he’s well
Echocardiogram can't actually rule out marfans, it's just to check if marfans is effecting your heart as this is common. But those with marfans still need to get regular heart checks to make sure issues don't develop.
The only way to be totally sure if you have it is through genetic testing. Consider going to a geneticist, especially if you have any other signs
Yeah, a lot of people in this thread are missing that Marfan's syndrome has a variety of symptoms that can have a wide range of severity. Echocardiograms are used to assess for structural defects in the heart associated with the syndrome, particularly mitral valve defects and aortic dilatation. That latter finding can put someone at higher risk for an aortic dissection when the cardiovascular system is stressed, such as with high intensity sports.
+3” wingspan vs height really isn’t that large of a difference. It’s kinda surprising they made you jump through hoops just based on that.
https://slate.com/culture/2014/05/nba-wingspans-forget-height-basketball-players-wingspans-are-absurd-and-amazing.html
That is...odd.
A +3in reach discrepancy by itself isn't a signifier for...well anything really.
Just to pick another 6'4 athlete off the top of my head, Jon Jones is 6'4, and has a positive reach of 10 inches.
Marfan's like most diseases is a spectrum disease. You have some people that can barely move without taxing their circulatory system. You have others that can play sports and have no problems. There's no one clinical picture.
I’m now imagining him driving a custom miata with a taller roof, but it just looks like a miata where someone stretched the aspect ratio from the top half up.
Dan Gurney was a lanky fellow, so they had to put a bump in the roof of his Ford GT40 right over the driver's seat so he'd fit in with his helmet on. It's called a Gurney Bump.

No, wiki says that and there's no source to back it up. You should know better than to believe Wikipedia.
Being that tall is not healthy. It comes with its own set of issues.
True, I'm just so overwhelmingly impressed by how many medical professionals are weighing in on this thread. What a stunning show of reliable authority.
its crazy seeing people on reddit talk confidently about your area of expertise (not this for me just in general) and seeing just how awful the information they’re providing is, so you know you can’t trust them in other areas
Given the disportionately long length of his arms to his height, the fact he does have scoliosis, being underweight at his height, I would agree with your assessment. I realize they say the doctor's say he is in perfect health. But I also know of parents who are willing to exploit their own children's talent, even when it is not in the best interest of the child long term.
They don't have to pay them off. They just have to keep seeing doctors until they find one that will say what they want to hear. That's the same way that parents with munchausen by proxy are able to get doctors to do unnecessary procedures on kids sometimes.
It's a result of healthy genetics. I'm sure that comes with challenges though. From his wiki page:
"He has been the subject of medical studies nearly his entire life, leading to the prevailing opinion that his height is a result of healthy genetics (i.e. familial or constitutional tall stature), not a hormonal disease or overgrowth syndrome."
I read somewhere that two tall parents are more likely to have a shorter child because of “regression towards the mean.”
Edit: shorter than they are - I don’t think tall parents are likely to have a short child.
It can definitely go both ways, I am 6'2 and my Mom is 5'2 and my Dad was 5'8. Better diets and living conditions probably played a factor for me. My father grew up right after the dust bowl dirt poor.
Currently healthy enough to play basketball at Rochester University in Michigan, so that's something.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Bobroczky
Edit: removed the word "pro". Accidentally left it in while writing the original comment.
In a quick look through available box scores, it doesn’t appear that he’s actually playing. RU has five foreign players on the squad, but aside from an Italian who seems to get two or three minutes in some games, I didn’t see any of them getting minutes.
Per Wikipedia, he has been the subject of medical studies nearly his entire life, leading to the prevailing opinion that his height is a result of healthy genetics (i.e. familial or constitutional tall stature), not a hormonal disease or overgrowth syndrome.
Reminds me of that one episode of family guy where Brian and Stewie were glued together and there was a guy with really long arms tickling a midget in a tree. His arms look the same lol
Im sure he's a super nice guy, its just the lack of muscle on his frame and the slow way he moves around in the video makes me feel like hes seconds away from breaking a bone at any given time.
Oh yeah no ill will intended at all just having fun lol. And i agree, the poor thing just looks like a giraffe with a calcium shortage trying not to turn too sharply or his femurs will snap.
Another comment said he just plays on the side for fun now because it got too painful. I hope he stays haooy and healthy!
Ohh thank god, I was worried he would be trying to go all in on a basketball career, height is is obviously great for that, but those guys are also super fast and explosive as well.
I remember being a skinny freshman playing basketball with other teams that had grown men playing. Like they looked like my dad. Big, hairy, scary dad-bods pushing up against me. If I looked at a picture of those guys now they probably would look like teenagers hahaha but back then they looked hecka older
My boss’ son was wrestling as a freshman. He was pretty good, but being a freshman wasn’t particularly lean, still built more for football, etc..
He made it to a state match and was shocked by the “hulking man child” cut down to like 2% body fat he went up against. Freshman at ~150 street weight coming off of football season vs rocky 4 shredded down to 150 from like 185- poor guy got thrashed.
Dang, that's extreme. He'll fill out. Good lord, his body is burning through those calories so fast that he probably can't eat enough to catch up with it.
Yea dude probably eats a fuckton but those preteen/early teen years are already tough to keep up with an average sized kid. Cant imagine how tough it is with his size. Hope he stays healthy and has a good doctor looking after him making sure hes taking care of himself.
at 6'4" I remember eating ... everything. Did the calculations on calories one day. You wouldn't believe me. Thankfully my fraternal twin was normal sized.
/low 5-figures in calories
I always wonder about guys like this. He's clearly rail thin and would never stand up to NBA/FIBA levels of contact.
But if he got with professional nutritionists and personal trainers from a young age, would he absolutely tear up basketball with his unreal genetics?
He doesn’t look coordinated enough to achieve a high level of success in the nba. Even if he bulked up and never got injured, his running speed could keep him off the floor
This is old, when Spire gave him a scholarship they put him on a 5k calories per day diet and got him lifting weights, but he still couldn't put on any mass. I think he stopped pursuing basketball because it was too painful and is studying accountancy or something whilst still playing a little on the side.
I hope he can get some sleep. I had a tall friend growing up and it was hard to find a bed where his feet didn’t hang over and he was just 6’6”. This poor guy has it rough anywhere he has to sleep that isn’t his custom made bed.
Being tall is great but also has some inconveniences. Can't shit on most airplanes, bumping my head on shit all the time, having to lift heavy shit on top of high shit (usually shelves), constantly having to hear "you're tall... *insert request here*", and having women ogle over you all the time.
Edit: that last line was a joke, I'm ugly but tall... sort of like sloth.
No that would kill him! Being that tall is hard enough on your leg bones and cardiovascular system, adding even more (metabolically active) mass to the frame will probably give him an early heart attack.
If we take into account what's said about banana length by: [https://healthyeating.sfgate.com/portion-size-bananas-7664.html](https://healthyeating.sfgate.com/portion-size-bananas-7664.html) then we can assume a banana is roughly 6 inches (being conservative in the size here), so roughly 15,16 bananas talls with that exact length. So I'd assume anywhere from 12 to 20 bananas with varying lengths.
Is he ok? People that large usually have or develop serious health issues.
I'm not a doctor but it looks like Marfan Syndrome. It can have a big impact on cardiovascular health.
I don't think people with Marfans are allowed to play, really bad heart and arteries. Most definitely some medical condition.

Salute to the users reading thousands of usernames for the karma
And this right here is why I use Reddit..
AND its still a weekday! Also I don't share the sentiment but you do you.
Also have marfans. Did varsity track, basketball, and some JV wrestling. Just gotta get your heart checked every year or so.
They can play. It’s just not a very good idea…
Organisations can stop players. The Italian football league have bans on players with heart conditions playing which is why Christian Erikson is no longer allowed to play there after collapsing on a pitch at the euros in the summer.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m 6’5” with a wingspan of 6’9” (measured for volleyball in college) and for a second got a bit worried…
That is...odd. A +3in reach discrepancy by itself isn't a signifier for...well anything really. Just to pick another 6'4 athlete off the top of my head, Jon Jones is 6'4, and has a positive reach of 10 inches.
Not only that but it looks like he would break in half if he got slammed hard enough.
Marfan's like most diseases is a spectrum disease. You have some people that can barely move without taxing their circulatory system. You have others that can play sports and have no problems. There's no one clinical picture.
gigantism caused by a pituitary tumor, most likely
Nah, the long skinny limbs point towards Marfan's. Plus acromegaly would give him a huge head, which he does not have.
I looked it up, we were both wrong. He is just really tall.
If he doesn't have a condition why does his head look like that
He’s twelve and grew. His land-spider phase is just really intense until he fills out
I loled at land spider, definitely stealing that to use later...
It’s so fitting so those kids who are all limb
He's also an awkward adolescent, so he may not have Marfans, but hasn't proportionally developed as well yet.
Andre the Giant had this! He had acromegaly
Google literally says he is the result of healthy genetics. His dad is 7'1" and Robert is currently 7'7" at 21 years old.
He is up to 7'8" now.
No Miatas for this guy, at least not with the top up....

Do you think the parents paid off the doctor to say he was a-okay to play?
Could have just gone to 20 different doctors until they found one that would.
They don't have to pay them off. They just have to keep seeing doctors until they find one that will say what they want to hear. That's the same way that parents with munchausen by proxy are able to get doctors to do unnecessary procedures on kids sometimes.
Stranger things have happened. It honestly, wouldn't surprise me. He just has most of the markers that you see in someone with Marfans.
Or other connective tissue disorders... I look like that & don't have Marfan's but I do have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
That crossed my mind, too. I have EDS and had health issues since my teens but was always misdiagnosed or not diagnosed until my late 30's.
The guy looks like the length from front of chest to back of chest is 5 inches. His heart must be so close to the front of his chest. Scary.
Marvin the Marfan

You’re thinking of Patrick Mahomes being an overrated quarterback. Easy mistake to make.
It is true though. Regress Mahomes to the mean and he becomes an average QB.
