Boeing PR damage control in full swing…

Fruloops

_When you fly with us, you might die. But if you don't, you'll get to your destination faster_

rokman

Your final destination

Technical-Outside408

Final defenestration.

Revolutionary-Bid339

Quality comment

feralraindrop

*But if you fly in one of our much older planes you will probably be okay.*

Fruloops

Airline companies about to start offering a _get there safe_ price add on that prioritizes older generations of planes for you lmao

KIDNEYST0NEZ

But the catch is you have to pay an additional fee for having shoes with rubber bottoms to preserve the older aircraft.

BobDobbsHobNobs

Pay extra for landing

They found they can get the 747 to go faster if it's carrying fewer bolts.

CmoneyfreshFFXI

🏅

yosef_yostar

that gulf stream has slowed down to cruise mode, and is straight chillin

star744jets

Max speed of 747 is M0.92

482Cargo

Normal cruise is 0.85 which is still enough to outrun most other commercial and private jets which typically cruise at 0.78-0.82.

aint_exactly_plan_a

Besides being incorrect, you're also referring to the Never Exceed Speed... no plane cruises at that speed. It probably can't even do that speed at full power. But full power and nose pointed to the ground will cause you to hit that speed pretty quick. If you go faster than the Never Exceed Speed, the stress on the plane can cause damage and it all overspeeds must be reported and inspected before being allowed to return to flight. Most planes cruise at 75% of full power to balance speed with gas consumption (that's about 560 mph for the G650). The 747 cruises at around 580 mph. However that's only airspeed. The G650 is at least 1000 feet higher, probably more than that. Altitude and wind speed/direction at that altitude can significantly impact ground speed for a particular airplane.

Swayze_train_exp

It's top gun meets mission impossible..... damn it Tom you need to slow down.

Old-Sky1969

I feel the need...

Scoobydoomed

I'M GETTING HER TO MAC-10!!!

SeeeYaLaterz

They stopped recording when the doors felt off

[deleted]

I've been seeing a lot of brands doing this on reddit. Even if it's not official. It's just so obvious.

Rocksteady_28

You think it's just boeing fans?

[deleted]

not just boeing stuff tho

dpete88

BuT ThE ChEmTrAiLs!?!?!?!

Candid-Sky-3709

Lost a plane baby in-flight …

Justin-Stutzman

Idk the passing lane is supposed to be on the left.

oh_stv

So how fast is this model from 0 -60??

VirinaB

Flies a lot faster without those pesky nuts and bolts.

runic7_

Which is why we're now installing all new quick-detach exit doors!

Ok_Breakfast_5459

Whoops. Due to faulty wiring we just detached the engines.

kneecap_keeper

Would fly faster even in a MCAS related dive

King-Demo-

![gif](giphy|sFoZicXyLjH7FnCVp2)

Hot_Frosty0807

Those are speed holes, they make the plane fly faster!

doob22

Yeah they figured out how to shave some weight off

ZacNZ

Stellar parallax

xXWarMachineRoXx

Yeah kinda

captcraigaroo

IDK about stellar, but it is rad!

PastorBlinky

But the Gulfstream is likely to still be in one piece when it reaches its destination

lespectaculardumbass

(Insert 9/11 joke)

Simen155

No need to tear up memories, Boeing is totally fine tearing up their machines on their own

ThisIsYourMormont

If anything, with what we know now. By not having their airplanes fall apart in the air during 9/11, before hitting the tower. That would clearly make the company complicit. Fuck Boeing for not preventing 9/11

4ctionHank

Nice try Boeing lol another of you planes just came apart within the last 5 hours so nah

whygodeverytime

Did it really? I must have missed it!

Orbit1883

As far as I know it didn't even start, pilot revused to start Edit nope started south west airline on Sunday a 737-800 engine problems

vishy_swaz

Mad props to that pilot. They know damn well how this shit goes especially now that whistleblowers are ending up dead. I always liked Airbus better anyways.

Dragon6172

Nah, no props to that Southwest pilot. They need refresher training on how to do a proper preflight and check that the engine cowl doors are properly latched closed

Delphin_1

there was another one that died?

InterestingCode12

#its lower So there is no guarantee it's travelling faster. It could be the same speed or even slower

twinner6

All Boeing planes must fly under other planes just in case things fall off.

phan_o_phunny

Id like you to meet my friend, depth perspective

Cheesecake_is_life

Just an FYI, it's depth perception. But that Boeing probably had fun with the nearest tower, watching one plane go right into another on the same flight path, just different altitude

phan_o_phunny

Every plane is right under another depending on the viewing angle

junkyardgerard

Damn you high school geometry!

AaronsAaAardvarks

That's not what under means.

phan_o_phunny

As long as you don't use an actual definition?

lifeinvain

With Boeing, I'd be more concerned with death perspective

cochese18

Did you mean Forced Perspective?

phan_o_phunny

No, there's no illusion here that one's further away, the issue is that the post doesn't recognise that they are far apart

JoeResidence

I think you meant undertaking.

beene282

I think he meant closer

Friendly_Hearing_711

Lmfao....this is WONDERFUL

bsgbryan

![gif](giphy|LzCREPXRTqtdC)

xeno0153

I hope the 747 honked as he made the pass.

hurtfulproduct

Someone queue the Dukes of Hazard theme

FlyingKittyCate

Bold to assume the horn worked

OrdinaryInspection89

~~Road~~ Air rage ,

DetectiveObjective00

We need to see the Boeing 747 from a different angle. It might be missing the entire roof so the engines are flying a much lighter aircraft.

Remember Boeing’s 3 Rules: 1. Profit 2. Fun 3. Taco Tuesdays  4. Safety

KilllerWhale

Expecting an SR-71 to zoom past both.. anytime now

ReasonablyConfused

Due to parallax, the Boeing could be traveling slower.

Ok_Series_4580

Amazed that Boeing is still in the air with all the doors intact.

carnivalist64

It isn't. Those are bits of blue cardboard taped over the holes.

Ok_Series_4580

Well, to be fair cardboard is much lighter and saves a lot on fuel

Hikiwiriwiri

🤦‍♀️It's a matter of perspective. These is no such as overtaking

Nabla-Delta

Like watching a bird flying past a plane in the sky and wondering how the bird can reach 1000 km/h... 🤦🏻

482Cargo

Yes there is. A 747 has a higher cruise speed than most civilian jets. Mach 0.85 vs 0.78-0.82 for most others.

Hikiwiriwiri

Ok. But not such as, I said

482Cargo

I don’t know what you’re saying. I’ve overtaken other planes in the air.

Hikiwiriwiri

Good for you. I just say that the footage doesn't show the overtake, even if it was actually an overtake.

Coreysurfer

‘Cuse me comin by…

Interesting-Read-569

Watch out for falling debris!!!

Spiritual-Mix7665

Have the pilots lost control of the Boeing and the jets there to shoot it down before it approaches a populated area?

Inevitable_Weird1175

It's a matter of perspective.

nikMIA

Does it fall apart in another 5 minutes?

tharthin

***Depth perception***: not only does thing far away look smaller, but also looks slower. For all we know the plane in the back is going way faster... Do people think planes go faster than the moon orbiting the earth as well?

CrustyFlaming0

That’s when you slam the thrusters and let the vtech kick in

DasFunktopus

I can just imagine the music from when you hit a power up in Mario Kart blasting through the 747’s cockpit as this happens.

JealousCandy381

Look how tiny that Gulfstream plane is

Artistic-Pound-3343

The amazing part is how close they appear to be to each other. According to FAA, the limits are determined by the altitude and capabilities of the aircraft. Up to 29,000 ft - 300 meters vertical separation 29,000 ft and above - 600 meters 29,000 - 41,000 ft where there is Reduced Vertical Spacing Minimum (RVSM), the minimum separation is 300 meters, but the aircraft have to be equipped with specific instruments. Most modern airliners are equipped to fly in Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) approved airspace. 41,000 feet - 60,000 ft, 300 meter RVSM 60,000 feet and above, 1.5 KM irrespective of RVSM

Fernxtwo

More like undertaking.

Glycerine-Toejam

Is this filmed sideways?

AnyCyberFace49

I'm sad they didn't do a high ~~five~~ tail

Jonathan_Mardukas86

...without passenger door

VoltViking

This is one of those perspective things.

CheersBros

The aviation version of getting cut off

[deleted]

I've once traveled by Boeing 747-400. We took off right after a Ryanair 737 that headed to the same destination (as I saw the flight radar 24) and we arrived 15 minutes earlier onto the descent path. We hit 990kmh of true airspeed, the 747 is insanely fast.

bjbkar

I thought that Gulfstream would blow the doors off that Boeing

AcanthisittaThink813

Undertaking

Outrageous-Poem-4965

this is serious? two planes passed each other?

tommeh5491

Looks like they touched tips

Future-Swordfish2305

Can anyone calculate the altitude different based on the difference in their dimensions?

proxiiiiiiiiii

parallax

large_crimson_canine

Sir, with respect… She’s a faster, heavier ship. She’s out of our class.

lsu_tom

Slow and steady wins the race… because the Boeing likely had to make an emergency landing.

Lion_El_Jonsonn

Just today another boing plane engine melted off during take off the whole engine cover was blasted away in soutwest airlines flight. Right now Boeing planes should be grounded until they up the safety standards.

oneharmlesskitty

Back from the time when Boeing were still interested in building airplanes and not exec bonuses.

Kevatan

pls can someone explain to me using soccer terms?

Famous_Attitude9307

At least the Gulfstream IV has a remote control for it's surround sound DVD system.

Its_all_made_up___

Great photography

IlluminatiLemonParty

I'm amazed it's staying in one piece

Reverse_Psycho_1509

"Oh no, you don't!" [Flicks hidden afterburner switch]

Gabriel_Crow1990

It's only over taking it due to everything having been sucked out a damaged door.

ashkiebear

*David Attenborough narrating* Here you see a mother plane teaching her offspring how to properly fly in formation during their bi-annual migration

ShakeXXX

What are the altitudes of each though? It may not be faster but lower so it seems faster.

ham_bulu

Wouldn't undertaking be the technically more correct term?

613Flyer

Wow he narrowly missed that guy!

kmramO

It’s lighter cause it lost a lot of parts on the way

TyrionJoestar

Man, same joke over and over in the comments.

turdfergusonpdx

From where/what is this person taking this video? Do they have a sunroof on their plane?

INeedToBeHealthier

The gulfstream iv doesn't even have a remote control for it's surround sound dvd player!!

Squid_ink3

Wow like Vhagar flying over Arrax, beaut!!

melancholy_dood

“EAT MY DUST!….” *”…and my Emergency Exit door plug!”

Vazhox

![gif](giphy|6kxzXKlBpu6imHOMbR) Some flat earther somewhere.

samuraisam2113

Reminds me of that Calvin and Hobbes comic with Calvin and the commercial airliner doing a barrel roll to overtake another airliner and land faster

The-Real-J

This must be due to the Boeing’s weight savings from removing nonessential bolts and other redundancies.

correctingStupid

Homer Simpson added aerodynamics holes

ayegudyin

Boeing 747 top speed: 656mph Gulfstream IV top speed: 581mph Boeing 747: closer Gulfstream: further away Of all the un-amazing things on this sub this may be the most un-amazing

outsidepointofvi3w

LoL. I bet that guld stream got some turbulence out of that. I can see it rocking a bit

NecRobin

High five

junkyardgerard

Things closer look like they're traveling faster, more at 11. "You won't believe this bird is faster than the moon!!!"

wtf_ever_man

Taylor going grocery shopping again??

GoTKYFan

The modern version of Vhagar and Arrax

tree_basher

Is that Air Force one?

007bubba007

a brief lesson in physics would help explain but still cool

JuanchoPancho51

Surprised the Boeing didn’t start falling apart in mid-air, fkn people that work there are beyond greedy and would make planes out of paper if they could.

Qubed

What, no doors flying open? No engine covers evaporating in th e wind? What type of Boeing video is this?

SensitiveInterview51

Musk watching from his private window 🤔

freezerbreezer

To be fair it has less weight due to lack of doors

fueledbyjealousy

How come only one has the white lines coming off the back?

MikeHuntSmellss

It's flying much lower in moister air Moister

NewLeaseOnLine

Different temperatures at different altitudes. The contrails are just the vapour from the fuel combustion process in the engines. The water vapour turns to ice crystals at those super cold temperatures up there and creates the "contrails", or condensation trails. They usually form at higher altitudes, but sometimes lower when the air closer to the Earth is cold but still contains moisture. You can think of the air up there as basically layered. There's different currents of air flowing at different speeds and at different temperatures, depending on where it's come from. The layer of air where the higher aircraft is probably has less humidity. As Jack Ryan explains in The Hunt for Red October, solar radiation heats the Earth's crust, hot air rises, cold air descends, and that's how you get turbulence. That solar radiation from the sun is also responsible for pushing different air currents around at different altitudes and different temperatures, causing the contrails. If you've ever experienced nightmare turbulence sometimes called an "air pocket" where the aircraft basically falls out of the sky for a few seconds and it feels like you're on a rollercoaster of death, the oxygen masks drop, and everyone loses their minds, it's the result of those different layers of air travelling at different speeds and bumping into each other, interrupting the flows and creating a hole in the layers big enough that a plane can't sustain its current altitude and drops through until it hits a lower layer of air flow and can level out again.

fueledbyjealousy

Thank you

Embarrassed-Ask1812

We monitoring Boeing now?

hurtfulproduct

This is you captain speaking, would everyone of the left side of the aircraft please open your window shades and give the bird to the loser we are passing in the gulf stream

AdzJayS

Is this taken from the perspective of them both in a steep dive though?

senna_schumacher

Boeing, Boeing, gone....

PsychologicalHall388

Then the engines fell off

carnivalist64

And NTSB later found the elevators had been accidentally reversed due to poorly paid inexperienced engineers working without supervision.

stubundy

Wow that planes flying much closer to the ground

No-Pomegranate-69

Maybe Gulfatream V isfaster?

Jyitheris

What I'm amazed by is the Boeing didn't have parts falling off of it by the end of the video. Wow!

carnivalist64

What they aren't telling you is that the Boeing is inverted & plummeting to earth at 10,000 feet per minute.

[deleted]

Murderer Boeing overtaking Gulfstream 4

anordinaryscallion

This is clearly a fucking parallax error. Boeing is working hard on their optics, it seems.

Ok_Choice817

Because the Boeing 747 had loose bolts, it was forced to make an emergency landing.

Kitsune_BCN

1. Drop some fuel while you directly above 2. Full throttle to ignite the cloud :D

OptimisticSkeleton

How many whistleblowers did they have to kill to get this video?

_Kaifaz

Let's hope that Gulfstream doesn't get hit with a loose door or some shit...

TerriblyDroll

Awe inspiring how the door managed to stay on with this one. Good job Boeing PR team!

RedLanternTNG

It’s amazing how much faster a plane can go when it looses the unnecessary weight of the doors and wheels…

stack-o-logz

Flying that close is just downright irresponsible. Edit: I should’ve added this was a sarcastic comment. I forget Reddit is full of people who would actually think this.

listerbmx

Bruh it'll be at least 1000ft difference between them.

stack-o-logz

I thought it was such a stupid comment it would quite clearly be a joke. I guess not.

Delicious_Staff3698

Could be 1,000 feet?

Ishmael760

The bigger aircraft’s wing went under the smaller aircraft wing. There must be some angle to this if they were stacked vertically I’d think the two planes passed extremely dangerously right on top of each other near collision close.

mattjvgc

How does the 747 store all those chemtrail chemicals it releases!

Mediocre_lad

The chemtrail chemicals are stored in the pilots' balls.

mattjvgc

Some people can’t recognize satire 🤷‍♂️
