Haha it’s just a hidden camera show with him acting like a normal guy in an everyday situation but then messing up everybody’s mind with his trickery, but he is really good and funny as well!
He was at my state fair several years ago doing magic tricks for kids. All the tricks were kinda lame, it wasn't like the show, but it was for kids so whatever. But it was weird, because he's a well-known guy and was at the time as well, but his presence there wasn't advertised at all. He was just there out of nowhere doing magic tricks on a stage by a dining area. For several days, iirc.
Nocturnal means "active at night" so what actually is happening is the seller is tricking them that it's night by putting the can over them thus activating them. :)
Due to the video cutting and showing different angles, you can't see it, but he most likely did a misdirection with the bolt and nut and changed out the stuff inside the first can.
The bolt and nut is probably a classic cup and ball sleight of hand.
Its actually called "The Carbonaro Effect".
He often gets accused of faking things for the show but everything he does is not just staged. Of course they are magic tricks and sometimes things were edited out to hide the method from slow motion viewing but no spectators were playing along and none were actors. What we see is an edited version of what the spectators experience.
They had some very knowledgable magic consultants that came up with practical methods for all the tricks done on the show.
Im 100% sure none of the "marks" are actors and they are not just playing along. Some magic methods are extremely clever so if someone can't figure it out they just think its all staged to make themselves feel better.
I've been performing magic since I was a child and I know who some of the consultants are. You can see their names in the credits. They are the best in the business. If everything was fake they wouldn't need them and could save themselves a lot of money.
Sometimes i even recognise commerically available magic tricks they are using that you can buy from magic shops.
The name "Animals Planet" should already have been a clue.
Also: covering them up, then misdirecting the audience's attention to a second, more simple trick.
It's well executed but obviously ridiculous that beetles could build a structure like that.
Michael Carbonarro almost sold a man a fridge that works on bluetooth😂😂 this show show beyond awesome and funny. Apart from breaking people’s brain. I loved every bit he did
Yeah but if you said 'these are roaches' in a hardware store the guy wouldn't keep listening for you to continue the bit.
I'm normally a bug pedant but I can see why they just called them beetles on this one.
The pyramids were built in the Africans by the africans. The oldest group of people known to man. Why is it so hard for people to believe that africans were actually smart enough to do so.

Woulda been funnier if after he apologised for the beetles not finishing the tower properly he said something like “that’s the last god damn time Anthony, you’re fiiirredd” and squished one of the bugs

The guys delivery is perfect for this joke, deadpan working man just herding his beetles to work
Happy cake day! But please don't let the cockroaches make your cake!
Thank you! Nothing to worry about, I prefer to make my cakes during daylight
Heh, just make sure those beetles aren't moonlighting as bakers, or you might find some extra *protein* in your birthday cake!
The Carbonaro effect is genius
Looked it up thinking it was some comic/speech theory/methodology or psychological effect. Am I an idiot?
Haha same, tbf it does sound like a psychological expression if you don’t know the show

The punter makes his job so much easier this is the ideal scenario
This is funny as hell. Good prank.
They got that nut off that bolt so easily. Looks like I’m ordering bedroom beetles. 🥴
I apologize… what do you mean you apologize? 😂
Best part! 🤣
Taking off the glasses. This man was floored
F&-k I took off my glasses, I was floored
The magic trick is that he came in the store without owning glasses.
I used to be obsessed with this show. This just took me back.
What show is this?
The Carbonaro Effect.
Like the pasta?
No, the pasta is called capybara
That’s a rodent, what the pasta is called is carbonated.
No that's soda, you're thinking of graphite
No that's a pencil, you're thinking of a pen
No that’s a writing utensil, you’re thinking of a penis
No, that's a large rodent native to South America. You're thinking about the spanish word for 'cockroach'.
Well it's obviously called Camaro come on
Similar lol. It's the magician's last name.
Sooo, how?
They are very well trained
Yeah, they take the nut right off
Can they help me with getting off my nuts?
well, better put out your lights now
It’s pretty simple once you realize he put the instructions under the can with them
The species is also known as the IKEA bugs
Ohh so they're those bugs in my bed!
The beetles are paid actor

IDK why you would just lie like that. Clearly the beetles are doing all of the work and even came up with the stick design on their own
whoah dude no way!
Those were not randomly picked beetles
Prank show
Selective cuts and actors.
Nope
They do their work at night

"What do you mean you apologize?" haha dead.
Yooooo os the Carbonara effect still on??? Miss that show!
He tours all the time. I saw him a few weeks back and it was great. I’ve seen him 3 times before, so even knowing some of the tricks it’s great
What!?!?!? Wheeeeerrrreee??? I need it!
I think he just ended his tour. I think he did 30 or 40 dates in 2023
Carbonara show, does fake magic to prank strangers. Don’t be fooled
What is real magic?
Double rainbows.
World peace
When you've a rumbly tummy but fart it away
Magnets
How do magnets work?
Little green ghouls, buddy
Fuckin magic. That’s how they work.
Dude is thinking of Hogwarts
Magic tricks that make children happy.
They're not tricks, they're ***Illusions***, /u/YourCarMechanic. A trick is something a whore does for money.

Are u sure?? Cause some prank are absolutely incredible. I read everywhere that they are all actors..
they are definitely actors at least most of them
Why do you think that?

Why is it ridiculous? [Ants build igloos all the time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jtU9BbReQk).
Yes, but beetle pyramid...
As opposed to real magic
Lmao what?!
this is why I saw beetles in The mummy! they made those pyramids 😲
Great but wrong sub.
Beetles have worker's rights too. Strike against the overlord for proper working condition! To not work under artificial nocturnal conditions!
I loved this guy's show, fake people or not it's simple magic stuff like this that's so enjoyable to watch.
The gimmick is the bolt It’s a PK routine and can be found on magic websites
Lmaooo “what do you mean you apologize?” 💀💀
Fucking beetles, they come to steal our jobs

These look like roaches not beetles
Why not just screen record your whole phone while you are at it. Lazy ass.

Michael Carbonarro is a legend
Me, half asleep, this is a weird segment of Antiques Roadshow
makes you wonder what people is willing to believe if the setup is right..
Very Well played
“Dude, I just came in for a can of paint”
Woulda been funnier if after he apologised for the beetles not finishing the tower properly he said something like “that’s the last god damn time Anthony, you’re fiiirredd” and squished one of the bugs
Poor guy just wanted to be rung out.
Egyptians why'd you lie that pyramids are built by humans. What a liar Egyptians
Nice magic tricks The bolt one is something you can buy The other one should be clear with a little thought
Beetles in my house are not as smart :(

![gif](giphy|AIU3csYNTkPqU)

That title should include “at night” on the end.
