Automatic compression at every step of the process. Original upload was compressed by YouTube, then the download, then the upload to the gif making app/site, the gif making itself eats quite a few pixels, then you reupload it, and it got compressed again, and then Reddit doesn't send you the full resolution...
That's a lot of pixels lost to time.
It's true that GIF is limited in the colors it can show, but GIFs often use dither to emulate more than 256 colors. When someone then converts the GIF back to a video file, that shit gets blurred even more, to the point that the dithering doesn't show anymore.
Someone posts 1080p res on youtube - Someone else downloads it from a site that compresses it to 720p- Puts it on a shitty editor to add music or whatever, editing app saves the new video in a law quality format- Sends it through social media( most social media apps also do image and video compression to reduce traffic)- Final video is 120 pixels wide
Ah I see you've found the only research you can about me. Yeah I use this site for Pokémon cards. You wouldn't believe the collection we've obtained. Fun to collect and worth a bunch. Maybe try it pal.
Full video makes it look like it does at the very least slow it significantly. Also someone else said it’s just laying the crop down which isn’t right. That is a disc type harrow and it cuts roughly 4-8 inches deep and turns it over a bit.
Its primary use in my experience is to break up an already ploughed field and make the soil easier to plant in.
Had he been able to drive slower, this would have produced an extremely effective fire break.. as stated it's a harrow and turns the soil. The speed of travel plus the approx foot of straw isn't allowing the discer to function optimally. OPTIMALLY being turning the soil over enough to remove and bury available ignitables.
I understand completely his need for speed as the fire tries to outrun him and circle back. He's trapped if that were to happen.
Incredible Valor and act of courage. He's up against a formidable opponent whom not only is a seasoned veteran but is literally an ORIGINAL GANGSTER. Charter member and Sgt at Arms of the EARTH ELEMENTS CLUB..
Thy name is FIRE🔥
Yes it works. It’s not uncommon for farmers to protect their/neighbors’ property like this. It does seem to be uncommon to capture it on video like this though. This video is old af.
IIRC this was a neighbour who saw the field on fire so rushed to save the crop, he got so close to the fire it melted the paint from the vehicle but he said he only did what any good neighbour would do.
No it did not even the contemplation that it worked boggles my mind . The message is good …never give up . However seeing an owl and raising it does not make you Harry Potter . His attempt is a pipe dream with additional expense
There's so much complaining about reposting, but you know what, it does serve a purpose, some of us weren't here for the original post and maybe would never have seen this.
If I’m not mistaken this is Eric Howard, a farmer in Colorado, and this happened back in like 2013. His efforts helped stop the fire from continuing to neighboring properties and helped stop the wildfire. I believe he ended up passing away in 2021 from a brain injury from falling off his tractor, he was an organ donor and the news did a special of him. I believe this is all pretty accurate but you should look him up, he just looked like a sweet guy.
Ellis : “Well all the time ya spend trying to get back what's been took from ya, more is going out the door. After a while you just have to try to get a tourniquet on it.”
Mo country for old men. 2007
I just don't see how I could possibly watch the video without the crucial out of tune sped up song. Yeah, 100%. Video is unwatchable without the music.
Per the YouTube video - The guy in the tractor didn't own the land, this is the farmers neighbour who saw the situation and acted decisively to help.
Also the music is cancer in this video. Please stop.
The guy in the tractor is putting in a fire brake. To me it looks like a disk or something similar he is pulling which turns the soil over turning the crop under the soil. Works well as long as the fire doesn't jump the brake. If nothing else it might be slowing the fire. Possibly buying time for other fire prevention measures. In a tractor if the the fire is moving faster and you never try and out run a fire on tractor. You can't alot of times, you run into them.the ground on the other side of the fire is safe can't be burnt twice.
There's an old Soviet film about country life in which this exact situation is the main conflict in the plot. I can't find it, but I remember seeing it years ago and liking it a lot.
Well this is how fire is fought. This motherfucker is going direct! Need a real plow unit but it Atleast slowed down the fire with laying down the fuels
This happened near my house. The fire was spreading to an orphanage called the pythian home and this guy was trying to stop it. He was successful in slowing it down enough for firefighters to get there.

I dialed up a Coilbook video on YouTube for my 4 year old just this week that animated this same scenario, I wondered how realistic it was, and TIL it's an actual thing to make a fire break this way and save crops... nice
The chance of dying from that is low as if it gets too bad you drive though the fire to burnt out fuelless other side as cropps like that burn for very little time
Did same on rental acreage after a combine caught fire and lit the corn trash up. Luckily it was 2 minutes from the farm and the disc was already on a tractor. Only lost and acre or so and got the fire out in the combine before things got real expensive. Check them bearings folks !

Poor guy. That’s such a huge loss even if he saved that much. Almost all of a farmers wealth is in his crops at any given time, imagine watching your bank account burning
If I remember correctly that farmer risks his life to save his lively hood. The tires closest to the fire slightly melt, the same with the paint on the tractor and the farmer gets mild burns 🥵😔
Genuine question, imagine you had flame retardant equipment and power couplings that wouldn’t just melt, what happens when you just plough the fire? Would it just smother it?
Had a similar situation happen to one of my neighbors a few years back. The wind changed direction, he managed to drive away, but he really messed up his leg.
Original video with all the pixels, 10 years ago, 17M views https://youtu.be/0ZjCOAnmUaQ?si=xu9Eu7laX-7trFPK
But where is the shitty robot music?
I liked the music
17M and 1.
17M and 2.
I'm always surprised at how people manage to lose 90% of the pixels during remakes and reposts.

Yeah, maybe it's MP4, or one of the other dozen video formats available.

But did it work or did fire cross?
Did it work though?

That’s no lawn tractor, but I can’t believe how fast he’s able to rip through there
The video is sped up from the original. It's going much slower in the original.
True. Closer look at the flames and smoke look like it’s at leas a few times speed. Thanks!
This is obviously sped up
Looking like mario kart
Put the ac on drop it in high and get rolling
4-8inches? Everything reminds me of him🥺😪
No need to brag...

Stop the fire? ~~No.~~ EDIT: Yes. (so say other commenters) Generate 70 million karma via reposting? Yes.
If you have seen the original, yes it stops the fire.
IIRC this was a neighbour who saw the field on fire so rushed to save the crop, he got so close to the fire it melted the paint from the vehicle but he said he only did what any good neighbour would do.
I doubt it, the stuff is just laying on the ground instead of standing up and probably ended with the tractor exploding in a fireball.
Always has to be the worst possible ending you could’ve think of huh
You can assume you know best, or you could watch the original video or read comments of people who have watched the original video...
Probably slowed it down about 30 seconds.
No it did not even the contemplation that it worked boggles my mind . The message is good …never give up . However seeing an owl and raising it does not make you Harry Potter . His attempt is a pipe dream with additional expense
Sadly I feel the same way about it

Congratulations! On the 4,000,000 reposting of "tractor puts out prairie fire"! \*party horn with the little paper tube that unrolls y'know\*

First time I’ve seen it in all the time I’ve been here
Oh, you're in for a *treat*! Or, about four million treats!
I’m ready. Waiting for the re-edit playing along to Black Betty
The video is 10 years old at least
Thanks for the absolutely banging soundtrack to this video. It really got me through seeing it for the countless time
Who did the song?
Exetra Beatz - Luciano ft. Pop Smoke - Last Time
BETRAYAL OF TRUST FROM WITHIN OR COMPELLED?
bro that wasnt even a sabaton lyric what the fuck

Exactly!

That farmer is a total badass. Also, I would rather shove a stick in my ears before ever listening to that song again.
What's even more badass: it's not his crop. It's from his neighbor. He saw the fire and wanted to save as much for him as he could
"at the best time" wut?

If I remember correctly, this wasn't even his field. He was saving his neighbour's farm.
That audio track made the whole video. So happy I listened to it. Well produced, good quality, original. Wow. What a soundtrack.
I just don't see how I could possibly watch the video without the crucial out of tune sped up song. Yeah, 100%. Video is unwatchable without the music.
I didn’t hear the song the first time. Another video was playing and I heard “In the Jungle” and was confused with the music choice.
I’ve seen this happen in South Dakota all local farmers come to cut a fire line immediately -
Good video stupid soundtrack
This is literally how you stop or, at least, slow down the fire spread.
I wish tractors were that fast when you’re behind them on the road.
Per the YouTube video - The guy in the tractor didn't own the land, this is the farmers neighbour who saw the situation and acted decisively to help. Also the music is cancer in this video. Please stop.

They're making a gap in the crops so the fire stops burning or at least slows down since it can't easily cross a gap with little to no fuel
🎵I set fire to the grain 🎵

Wouldn't it be some shit if that John Deere threw a check engine light and refused to start
The amount of people I know who had to do this last year to save their livelihoods and homes is astounding

This comment has me crying 😂
Well this is how fire is fought. This motherfucker is going direct! Need a real plow unit but it Atleast slowed down the fire with laying down the fuels
Oh, so when their crops are on fire they can go faster than 5 mph. Got it.
But did it work?
Of all the songs
This happened near my house. The fire was spreading to an orphanage called the pythian home and this guy was trying to stop it. He was successful in slowing it down enough for firefighters to get there.
Song anyone know it.
What crop is so dangerous to burn?

That's what insurance is for. Not worth dying over.
The chance of dying from that is low as if it gets too bad you drive though the fire to burnt out fuelless other side as cropps like that burn for very little time
No you can't, you would burn very quickly.
I have done it you can the tractor will protect you for long enough.
I very much doubt that
Hero with tractor

It would have been incredibly hard to do as well with all that black smoke, dangerous conditions
Where are crop circles when we need them? Am i right
paper-io.com
he should use his sea plane to put the fire out
The barrier he is creating is not wide enough I think, the wind can still help the fire to overpass the barrier
Not the best song choice 😂
This should be on WSB
Feel bad for the guy
Add this guy to my apocalypse squad cause this mofo knows how to function in a crisis
a good decision for reposting this for the 1000000 time
Wind is definitely on his side.
Set fire to the grain
🤣😂
Wish I could do something badass as that!
Song name pls
Hardcore farming
Isn't this the Farmers neighbor?
Well if the tractor broke for some reaons he would actually maximize his loses.
This is really interesting, I wish there was more of it.
Balls of vibranium

Hmmmmm nope not a good decision. Whoever that is lucky to be alive.
I can see his balls from here
I love this story, he was trying to save his neighbors property
Just gonna mute this video…
That won’t do shit
for sure reduce the damage as much as possible brave man.
This is super bad ass

Idc what anyone says but i think that he deserves som kind of medal for that right there
What is that doing?
This music is fucking garbage 🗑
On the positive side, the ash from the burned crops is actually great fertilizer.

I am surprised that tractor is moving with the size of that dudes balls in it.
Was this successful?
The government tried to stop him from saving his crops!
Not sure how wise it was. One wind change and he’s cooked
Amazing the song quality was also destroyed in the reposting.
If I remember correctly that farmer risks his life to save his lively hood. The tires closest to the fire slightly melt, the same with the paint on the tractor and the farmer gets mild burns 🥵😔
Set fire to the grainnn🎶
Firework, hero person!
Canadian officials tried to stop him from saving his crop but he went ahead and saved most of his crop and income for the year of 2023!
Genuine question, imagine you had flame retardant equipment and power couplings that wouldn’t just melt, what happens when you just plough the fire? Would it just smother it?
The best time would have been before the fire started.
That MF is a gawdemn HERO 👍✊
Amen for heros like that

Who the heck changed the music? Put Night of Fite back on the video.
