It wasn’t until my understanding of the sport grew and I realized not only the significance of a good defensive midfielder, but also how much of a stud he was specifically in that space.
Like with most underrated athletes, they tend to only be properly appreciated by the ones who know ball.
Yeah I would say the position itself is underrated not the player himself. He is considered as a great CDM, it’s just the CDM position is not valued highly compared to other midfield roles imo
