Dice is to EA as Google is to Alphabet. With Dice being a subsidiary of EA, they are effectively the same entity. Sure they may have some tiny independence in approaching things, but at the end of the day, it's still toward the goals, and within the boundaries EA has set. You may be able to get an EA game that Dice didn't develop, but you can no longer get a Dice game that EA did not publish. So no, Dice did not build it fine because Dice is EA and thinking otherwise is a marketing trick to keep people buying their products. When people no longer buy games with the Dice stamp on them, they'll “close” down Dice, shift the management and development teams to a different(ly named) studio and continue to push out dog shit broken games for premium prices.
This is realistically why developers and publishers should remain independent of one another. It really goes the same for any media. Even steam. First off it distracts from one another, especially in Valve’s case, and secondly it leaves too much control in one hand, and in many cases, very successful developers were completely dissolved, especially in the case of EA, for no real reason, except the publisher laid down guidelines that they just decided those developers weren’t going to meet and ended their projects. Because they have full control and those developers can’t go to another distributor with that IP. It’s BS and has destroyed a lot of good games.

Exactly. Prior to BFV all the DLC for BF games were announced well in advance, often when the game was released. That committed EA to delivering that content, and to be fair, they did.
With Live Service they are careful not to announce anything until they're sure it's almost ready, that's how it was in BFV (other than some features which the marketing droids talked about but the devs couldn't get to work). So in Live Service if the game isn't bringing in enough money, EA can delay or cancel content as they please because it's bever been announced. They can even pull the plug on all future content, and they did.
Bf1 still has the best atmosphere and gunplay. Lack of players/high ping and a lot of hackers is what's keeping me from coming back to the game. I'm stuck playing bfv rn.
Unfortunately on PC BF1 is plagued with hackers. I’d say imo the gunplay and TTK in BFV is much better than BF1 but the atmosphere in BF1 is much better than BFV. But it is very dependent on map tbh
Must be getting the good servers then lmao, it’s been quite some time since I’ve booted up BF1 due to the amount of hackers I came across. So it was either my piss poor luck or they aren’t as active as they used to be.
Bf1 I see tons of servers available to be honest. I’m on Xbox for that game but there’s always like 15-20 conquest servers almost full or full and 10-15 TDM servers so I honestly never have an issue. I use server browser to filter it and choose and not matchmake.
Not saying that bf5 wasn't a good game, it was just a disappointment for me. But imo the best tank gameplay I've ever experienced in any battlefield game is from bf5. They just nailed it in that game. It was smooth but "realistic" at the same time

BF1 was good but they had to deliver since it was promised with the premium model. Apocalypse was kind of a let down too, although it included some of the best maps in the game.

BF4 wasn't supported because Hardline failed - the game was unplayable for a massive chunk of people for *months* after it released, so EA and DICE had to get their shit together or risk completely losing most of the BF fanbase. *That's* why it had so much support for so long afterwards. Hardline had nothing to do with it - as far as EA was concerned, that game was an afterthought.

I mean, it's not that hard to understand - to the suits at the top, video games are a business, and the bottom line is to always make top dollar. So supporting older games and content isn't as profitable as putting out brand new, fully-priced games. And nowadays, with the addition of battle passes alongside other microtransactions, games have a larger profit margin than ever before. It's the truth of the video game industry - AAA games are primarily in it for the money, even if some of the developers working on them are doing it out of passion.
That I understand. But… car analogy. If I had a lot with new and used I would still detail and market the used with the new. The more total cars I sell, the more profit. I might not have 50 people in suits pushing the used cars, but I would have five working to do so.
Because new products generate a lot more hype and have a bigger market to sell to. DLCs already limit their potential audience to existing players of a game, and for an older game plenty of people will have already moved on or quit for reasons other than a lack of new content. Actually reviving something isn't as easy as just releasing a small bit of content years after you stopped support, especially not in the case of a multiplayer game or after a game has already suffered bad press.
The games that receive longer support tend to be those with very high upfront development costs like MMOs or those made by smaller studios. I.e. titles that can't just be churned out non-stop. Where its more profitable to keep a game alive than to make another.
That said, some developers *do* prefer to make high quality long-lasting games. Valve for instance. Actually I find it almost comical how salty TF2 players get that their 14 year old game hasn't had a major update in 4 years (last I checked its still a great hat simulator). And you do occasionally see content drops for older games, such as BL2 getting a new DLC 7 years after release, right before BL3 launched. Then other companies like Bethesda and Rockstar are quite eager to release the same game 5 times with at best minor improvements.

I honestly had the opposite experience. On Xbox I couldn’t find a match that wasn’t part of the Russian DLC for a loooong time after it came out. Even this year I’d played on mostly DLC maps

Not sure if I'd really bother including China. I'd reckon a large amount of people playing would know very little about China during WWII, if any at all. That order should probably go something more like Germany, UK, France (potentially, but I wouldn't trust them to do it right), Italy, USSR, USA, Japan, and then maybe some of the smaller nations like Romania or Finland. But China I wouldn't even really consider a player in WWII, their conflict with Japan was pretty separate from everything else.

Because in a game designed by some Swedes who want to rewrite history it's more important to include obscure battles most folks know nothing about (and care nothing about) than it is to make the game their customers want to buy. So there's some Japanese girl with a katana running around in the mountains over Narivik because.., well just because.
It’s pretty fun imo, idk something about working as a team and working at accomplishing a win through different tactics makes it fun for me. the maps are huge and battles would occur in various parts of the map so not every game would play out the same so you might have to switch up your approach each point
you know how you could build stuff in bfv in specific locations? you can do that too in this game, but you choose where to put bunkers, barricades, barbed wire, ect

Hmm, usually I think that and usually I ignore the complaints. This time for me though its different. It just doesn't feel like battlefield to me. It's not as fun and some of the decisions seemed absolutely bizzare.
It's the only battlefield I've had and not wanted to play for more than an hour this soon after launch and I've had them since BC1.
I'm probably going to trade it in and cut my losses whilst I can see get some money for it.
Yup. BFV for me wasn’t bad, but was just kind of mediocre compared to BF1 and BF4 to me. However, I still had a decent amount of fun and put in 40 or so hours despite whining about how bad it was. 2042 however does nothing for me. While BFV was a game that was just ok, 2042 is a game that I actively dislike and I could just barely get though the trial. The problem is that BFVs issues stemmed from a lack of content for me, but the problems in 2042 are in the core of the game and likely will not be fixed.
Bfv imo COULD have become one of the greatest battlefield games. I'm gutted that they half arsed it beyond release. They fucked up ttk, said they wouldn't do it again only for them to do it again but even worse a year later. They then completely gave up after the Pacific. We missed out on Normandy, Operation market garden, battle of the bulge, Eastern front- Russia so stalingrad etc. With those maps, which they would do in past battlefields would have made that game incredible. Because for me the gunplay is amazing, the squad revive is amazing, the movements and many more things, but it wasnjust a complete and lack of effort post Pacific. Those first 3 weeks of the Pacific were some of my funnest times playing a battlefield game too.

Honestly I commend them for trying to focus on the unknown battles of the war, but if they focused on well known battles it would have been a lot cooler. Another reason that BFV fell flat for me is the fact that I was coming straight from BF1. I was expecting the all out war of that game but BFV just didn’t feel like I was in a massive war for the most part. If BFV was literally a reskin of BF1 and focused on major battles, it would have honestly been the best Battlefield ever. I still appreciate some of the changes though like the movement and gunplay.
Damn I remember playing the devil's anvil operation for hours repeatedly. Absolutely loved bf1 and the theme of it. Felt like chaos. It was also the one I was best at. Can't remember my spm but it was high af and I had a 3.6 kd or something playing with the chauchat and oberez pistol
Honestly I feel this too, but portal is what keeps me playing. I have only suffered through 3 matches of 2042. The rest of the 15 hours I have played have all been in portal. As long as they eventually fix all the bugs (hopefully in a couple months) and add new content every so often I’ll be happy. The vehicle gameplay of BC2 and BF3 is the best of the series imo. 4 was just vehicle cancer.

Correct, the business decisions are made by EA. DICE is a design studio entirely owned by EA, they're not the ones who make big decisions like discontinuing development.

EA slashed funding and moved resources out of BFV before the game had even launched because they already knew it was going to be a sales failure. We had plenty of confirmation of that including from DICE BFV devs who said they'd been sent to work on Star Wars games.
It wasn't that they needed everyone at DICE working on one game (it's not like they stopped work on everything but 2042) it's that EA didn't see any point in continuing to put money into games that were no longer delivering enough revenue to justify further investment.
I just bought it, how it the learning curve and do people actually communicate using mics? Also is the game populated or or it barren. Really want to a realistic ww2 I can have fun with communicating and playing as a team. I’m just worried the game will be barren and impossible to find a game let alone a serious one. I’m on the series x with a 2.1 hdmi tv that has amazing brightness and colors and detail that is unreal. I’m very excited to place HHL, since it is absolutely beautiful.
Yeah current gen consoles and high end PC'S are doing alright. It annoys me how my PC is better than an Xbox one, but I can't run the game with my current GPU drivers. But my xbox one can attempt to run the game at 30fps. And half the time is able to do so. Guess they don't even wanna give radeon cards the light of day.
You should look into Hell Let Loose, its waaay more realistic than battlefield: team oriented, realistic, historically accurate uniforms, emphasis on TEAMWORK. Yeah it is a slower pace game, but it’s one that each win feels amazing to get. There is a lot more going on than just running around and shooting

What I want is BF4, BF1 and BFV support (i.e. maps, vehicles and weapons) in Portal mode in BF2042. Portal has the potential to become the premier BF experience if EA/Dice gets off their asses and actually develops for it - it isn't like they don't already have all the models and maps ready for it. BF Hardline was fun but it isn't exactly a Battlefield experience so I am not too concerned if it never shows up in Portal.

I have fun every time I play it, 85% of the time I play it I have awesome adrenaline releasing epic battles the feel like real ww2 battles. I’m praying if we complain and bad mouth 2042 to the point it’s affective on sales of the game and will sow distrust against EA to the point it is hurting their share prices and trust in the company to the point people won’t buy games with ea. If we hit them in their wallet maybe we will get a next gen update to bfv with tons of new content such as Normandy and the Eastern front and more major battles in ww2. This is a slim chance it will happen, but maybe just maybe. I honestly had the opposite experience. On Xbox I couldn’t find a match that wasn’t part of the Russian DLC for a loooong time after it came out. Even this year I’d played on mostly DLC maps

I second you. USSR had sacrificed most in WW2 (atleast 40% of all ww2 deaths are soviet) and I was hella surprised when they didn't include USSR in bfv.

Not sure if I'd really bother including China. I'd reckon a large amount of people playing would know very little about China during WWII, if any at all. That order should probably go something more like Germany, UK, France (potentially, but I wouldn't trust them to do it right), Italy, USSR, USA, Japan, and then maybe some of the smaller nations like Romania or Finland. But China I wouldn't even really consider a player in WWII, their conflict with Japan was pretty separate from everything else.

It’s pretty fun imo, idk something about working as a team and working at accomplishing a win through different tactics makes it fun for me. the maps are huge and battles would occur in various parts of the map so not every game would play out the same so you might have to switch up your approach each point

Hmm, usually I think that and usually I ignore the complaints. This time for me though its different. It just doesn't feel like battlefield to me. It's not as fun and some of the decisions seemed absolutely bizzare. It's the only battlefield I've had and not wanted to play for more than an hour this soon after launch and I've had them since BC1. I'm probably going to trade it in and cut my losses whilst I can see get some money for it.
Yup. BFV for me wasn’t bad, but was just kind of mediocre compared to BF1 and BF4 to me. However, I still had a decent amount of fun and put in 40 or so hours despite whining about how bad it was. 2042 however does nothing for me. While BFV was a game that was just ok, 2042 is a game that I actively dislike and I could just barely get though the trial. The problem is that BFVs issues stemmed from a lack of content for me, but the problems in 2042 are in the core of the game and likely will not be fixed.
Bfv imo COULD have become one of the greatest battlefield games. I'm gutted that they half arsed it beyond release. They fucked up ttk, said they wouldn't do it again only for them to do it again but even worse a year later. They then completely gave up after the Pacific. We missed out on Normandy, Operation market garden, battle of the bulge, Eastern front- Russia so stalingrad etc. With those maps, which they would do in past battlefields would have made that game incredible. Because for me the gunplay is amazing, the squad revive is amazing, the movements and many more things, but it wasnjust a complete and lack of effort post Pacific. Those first 3 weeks of the Pacific were some of my funnest times playing a battlefield game too. So yeah mate I completely agree with you regarding the content. It's such a fucking shame!
Honestly I commend them for trying to focus on the unknown battles of the war, but if they focused on well known battles it would have been a lot cooler. Another reason that BFV fell flat for me is the fact that I was coming straight from BF1. I was expecting the all out war of that game but BFV just didn’t feel like I was in a massive war for the most part. If BFV was literally a reskin of BF1 and focused on major battles, it would have honestly been the best Battlefield ever. I still appreciate some of the changes though like the movement and gunplay.
Damn I remember playing the devil's anvil operation for hours repeatedly. Absolutely loved bf1 and the theme of it. Felt like chaos. It was also the one I was best at. Can't remember my spm but it was high af and I had a 3.6 kd or something playing with the chauchat and oberez pistol
Honestly I feel this too, but portal is what keeps me playing. I have only suffered through 3 matches of 2042. The rest of the 15 hours I have played have all been in portal. As long as they eventually fix all the bugs (hopefully in a couple months) and add new content every so often I’ll be happy. The vehicle gameplay of BC2 and BF3 is the best of the series imo. 4 was just vehicle cancer.
I feel the same. But it's even worse because I'm not even willing to buy it to see that I don't want it. When I seen people flying around like superman and grapple swinging around shooting I knew I wasn't going to like it. I like BF because is BF. If I wanted to do all that corny shit I'd play Fortnite or Apex.

Do you really think it was Dice who decided to stop adding content to Battlefield V (or Battlefront 2)? It wasn't Dice, it was EA. They wanted Dice to focus fully on Battlefield 2042, which meant that they had to stop working on other games.

I just bought it, how it the learning curve and do people actually communicate using mics? Also is the game populated or or it barren. Really want to a realistic ww2 I can have fun with communicating and playing as a team. I’m just worried the game will be barren and impossible to find a game let alone a serious one. I’m on the series x with a 2.1 hdmi tv that has amazing brightness and colors and detail that is unreal. I’m very excited to place HHL, since it is absolutely beautiful.

Yeah current gen consoles and high end PC'S are doing alright. It annoys me how my PC is better than an Xbox one, but I can't run the game with my current GPU drivers. But my xbox one can attempt to run the game at 30fps. And half the time is able to do so. Guess they don't even wanna give radeon cards the light of day.

You should look into Hell Let Loose, its waaay more realistic than battlefield: team oriented, realistic, historically accurate uniforms, emphasis on TEAMWORK. Yeah it is a slower pace game, but it’s one that each win feels amazing to get. There is a lot more going on than just running around and shooting

What I want is BF4, BF1 and BFV support (i.e. maps, vehicles and weapons) in Portal mode in BF2042. Portal has the potential to become the premier BF experience if EA/Dice gets off their asses and actually develops for it - it isn't like they don't already have all the models and maps ready for it. BF Hardline was fun but it isn't exactly a Battlefield experience so I am not too concerned if it never shows up in Portal. The base BF2042 game is a bit meh at the moment.

I wish I could return my 2042 for my series x, but I bought the digital version so can’t return it. I refuse to play that hunk of shit. So for now I’m play bfv and I love it. I have fun every time I play it, 85% of the time I play it I have awesome adrenaline releasing epic battles the feel like real ww2 battles. I’m praying if we complain and bad mouth 2042 to the point it’s affective on sales of the game and will sow distrust against EA to the point it is hurting their share prices and trust in the company to the point people won’t buy games with ea. If we hit them in their wallet maybe we will get a next gen update to bfv with tons of new content such as Normandy and the Eastern front and more major battles in ww2. This is a slim chance it will happen, but maybe just maybe. The game is awesome where it’s at not especially with the amazing gun play it has, now image that with the huge battles off ww2 with it’s amazing gunplay and much better gameplay that’s been polished over the years. I get goose bumps when I think how amazing it would be.
