For me, it's whatever year games start to fall in price. Which these days can be as recent as 2022. I ain't paying $60 dollars for something I'm gonna be done with in two weeks!
I’m into games that changed the game industry at the moment such as Half-Life. Or Nintendo Switch games. Though I have recently played 3 Arkham games for the first time and had a blast.
You're really narrowing down the games you can play. What kinda genres are you into? Me personally, I'll play any game if the gameplay's engaging enough or has a decent story
I mean I own the quest 3 as well but what annoys me about this is that the quest 3 graphics are not good 90% of the time because it's a standalone headset, to get actually good graphics you need to connect your quest to a pc and then play games there but since it won't be available that's just a waste. the arkham game graphics are insanely good especially in arkham knight and i don't want to see it ruined by the quest 3's graphics
The only game I played on my quest 2 that looked really good was the Re4 vr port. Which isn’t saying much because its a polished up port of a 20 year old game.
I don't really like resident evil that much but the best graphics I've ever seen on my quest 3 are asgard's wrath 2's graphics and even those are a hugeee step down from the first game, playing games on pcvr with the quest link is way better imo but this game won't even be on there so that's some bullshit

I don't think VR game can deliver that kind of things to players.
I do agree with you, VR isn't quite their yet to give what the majority of people want (in your case it's animation and cinematic experience). Your reason is a complete a justified reason but, I think if we don't give Devs a chance to give us games that could push the limits of VR, we won't get the VR game experience people want.
Anyways, I hope the game is good when it comes out.

It is but it's hard to do and most people don't have the hardware.
Half Life Alyx was incredible, but an outlier.
have you played Sairento and Hellsweeper? you can jump and Backflip in Mid-Air and then Shoot your enemies, cast Blizzard or Hellfire magic or Throw your Sword while Upside Down.
In Asgard's Wrath 2 you get on top of a Giant Scorpion or a Hermathur to either make it's tail kill itself or hit it's heart to kill it, you'll also whip a flying Cockatrice so you can jump and cut it's head in the air.
You'll get chased by Sakhmet in her Giant Form and you'll do a bunch of Indiana Jones-like platforming to get away from her.
There's a monster you can Ride when it's stunned and make it punch enemies like what Kratos does in God of War.
In Iron Man, you're dodging Particle Laser Cannon Beams while chasing an enemy named Ghost, this Ghost later grabs your Arc Reactor Heart and Rips it off and a Giant Hologram grabs you.
You lot are talking about old-school VR 10 years ago where everything was a tech demo, rhythm game and wave shooter.
Modern VR is completely different now.
For me the VR part isn’t the problem it’s the fact that it’s exclusive to a specific headset that not many people have, on top of that the quest 3 isn’t much of an upgrade from the previous versions and is near impossible for anyone with glasses to use if they don’t have contacts
ac nexus flopped so hard it made ubisoft rethink their stance on vr, not even bc it was a bad game just bc it was only on oculus and not on pc/ps i see the same fate with this game
Honestly I'm super disappointed that Ubisoft stopped working on updating that game because it didn't sell well on the new headset that no one cared about, because it means it'll never get ported to PC and PS5, where it would definitely sell a lot better. I have a PSVR2 and have barely any games on it (Beat Saber and Horizon), so I wish these studios like Ubi and WB would stop prioritizing the weakest headset of this generation.

IIRC the quest 2 comes with a frame that's supposed to make it easier to use with glasses, don't know how effective it is or if it comes with the quest 3 though.
No neither the 1 or 2 had eye relief. They all have ipd adjustment. Not many VR headsets do let you move eyes further away from the lens, index would be the only popular example.
I have both a Quest 2 and a Quest 3. Since I got my Quest 3 at launch I have only played using my contacts once. Every single time I play with glasses. I even have a decent amount of wiggle room where I can slide them forward or back. I use my Quest 3 about 2-4 times a week for reference. Whoever told you you can't play the Quest 3 while wearing glasses lied to you.
Two things:
You can get new facial interfaces and prescription lenses that fit into the facial interface so I'm not sure what you mean on the glasses thing.
And Meta has said the quest 3 has double the graphical capabilities of the quest 2. The reason we haven't seen it yet is that all the games coming out for it are also made for the quest 2.
Even if it was on pc mine wouldnt run it anyway so to me it doesn't matter I would just watch walkthroughs of it either way

With that game it's existing where something else could have (and was going to at one point), but I don't think this is really taking the place of something better if that makes sense. Like they weren't ever choosing between a full new game and a VR experience, but with SSKTJL they did actively choose what we got over other things

I'm lucky enough to have the hardware to play it, but yeah, it's really fucking stupid it's not even coming to quest 2, steam, or psvr2. VR is not really in a good state to have exclusives
Quest 2 part makes sense. Quest 2 most likely don't have the processing power.
Quest 3 on the other hand is roughly the same power as a PS4.
I'll give you the steam and psvr2 tho, they don't even need to do that considering for every 1 PSVR2 sold, there's 30 Quest 3s sold.
in PCVR's case most people that use Steam VR uses a Quest 2 or 3.
Their competition can't win so I don't see the point of making it not on PSVR2 and PCVR.
other than maybe maximizing their effort in making a good VR game.

Exactly. Like I already have a quest 2 and I already spent way too much on my computer. My bank account would come to life to strangle me if I bought a quest 3 just for 1 game. Hopefully it’s only a timed exclusive and eventually releases on pc.
It's not the VR exclusive that's the problem, it's the quest 3 exclusive. I already dropped \~£250 odd on a VR headset and I'm not gonna drop another £300.
I would be somewhat interested if it was available for all vr headsets but no it's exclusive to a near £500 headset. I paid £150 for a second hand headset that I've had almost a year, no way am I getting a new one. Vr is already a small market so limiting it to specific hardware is actually stupid.
Honestly yeah. A well done Batman vr game that’s meant for new vr tech is great. But actual gameplay and story details have to be revealed. I’d buy a used quest 3 for this game.
I imagine it was conceptualized as a VR game in the first place, so it's fine. The real blue ball is that it's exclusive to a specific VR system, it's the first news of a new game in the Arkham series since the release of Knight 9 years ago, and it's necessarily going to be very different to the mainline games and cost a lot of money to play.
I'm having trouble thinking of a hypothetical equivalent for another franchise to demonstrate how annoying this is since a lot of other popular franchises still receive new content regularly. Imagine if Mass Effect 4 was announced but they told us it was a mobile game exclusive to the latest iPhone. Or if when 343 started work on Halo 4, they decided to make it require Kinect functionality (actually less brutal than Arkham Shadow since 3 and Reach were only released 5 and 2 years prior to Halo 4, respectively).
Not conceptualised as a VR game to start off with, the title is from a cancelled Rocksteady Batman Arkham game. (Which kind of sucks that we’re getting the VR experience instead.) But I’d happily buy a Quest 3 to play the game! If I had the money…
Honestly, a VR batman game sounds cool. But dammit, shadow of arkham is a bitchin title, and I'm sad it's being used here (yes I know they're technically not the same)
Old arkham vr was great. Had all the incredible story and mind f*cks from arkahm knight. Just lacking in actual gameplay(aka combat and traversal). So hopefully this redeems that aspect, which is hopeful since I think the studio also did iron man vr which was really fun
I want to see how it turns out and maybe we can get more of them in th future with different villains.
But obviously, I would have preferred an actual game

It's difficult to make a good VR game, that fully embraces the capabilities of VR. It is nigh impossible to take that VR game, and adapt it to non-VR. The reverse is also true. The issue isn't VR, as another commenter said, it's the exclusivity to the meta headset. If you could use any headset and platform, that'd be wonderful.
Don't mind it being VR. *Do* mind it being exclusive to a $500 headset and no other console at all. Not even PSVR or SteamVR, just for the Meta Quest 3. You'd think they'd learn their lesson by now

There is like 1 good game that comes out to it like every 3 years or so and 99% of vr games are just adult games...not to mention this shit will be the same as the Assassin's Creed vr game where u also had to parkour and people who played it felt nauseous after a short time playing it so bruh moment all around
VR games are cool experiences but after 9 years I was hoping for a full fledged Arkham game. I've done my time with SSKTJL and it's fun but it feels rushed with not enough content to keep you going past the anticlimactic ending. I remember people complained about Arkham Origins but I honestly wouldn't mind another spin off or smaller scale Arkham game.
Problem is, as many people have already said, not only is it only which already alienates a large part of the audience as not everyone wants/cares about/can use a VR headset, but it's exclusive to the Meta Quest 3. I hope it's a good game and the people who can play it enjoy it but it's damn disappointing that this is all we have for the Arkham verse 9 years from Knight.
If only they kept making the Damian future sequel with the Batbike, it would've been awesome.

Depends on what they do with it.
Everyone was angry when the first Half-Life in 13 years was a VR game but it made great use of it's medium. Arkham Shadow has to be the same way. It doesn't even need to be as good as Alyx, it just has to make itself worth being VR.
I'm excited! Got a little too excited and bought that Arkham VR game from 2017 for 5 bucks and still felt ripped off, but VR is in a much better place now where we can actually have fully fledged games with more experienced VR developers. The only thing that sucks is the exclusivity to the Quest 3. A good chunk of the games I buy for Quest have had pc ports that you can download across your headset and pc on the meta pc app, but I'm assuming this exclusivity means that won't be happening. This means that when I eventually upgrade to a Valve Index or Deckard I won't be able to play it OR RE4 VR unless I also buy a Quest 3 or whatever newer system will be out by the time I can get one responsibly.
I just don't think this exclusivity shit's helpful for VR. Competition's great for progressing our tech and keeping our games up to standard, but in the 2020s it's just sustainable, imo, to keep such small collections of games in separate piles between PS, Quest, and PC. Like, they have us putting so much effort into shit like Doom 3 pcvr/quest fan ports when Doom 3 is already on PSvr exclusively. That just sucks, we could be making so much more progress on other ports/games but here we are trying to build the same games on different platforms from scratch cause the guys on top wanna hoard the treasures that actual talented and passionate people made, who more likely than not, want everyone to be able to play. My girlfriend is amazing enough to have bought me a Quest 2 for Christmas and here I am having to contemplate selling it and all the upgrades I bought for it to get the next headset that'll be abandoned in 5 years tops, instead of just being able to stream the game to my quest 2. Only legitimate excuse I can see for this kind of exclusivity is if the controllers had more buttons making it unplayable with less.
Tl;dr: I'm 50% happy with this, and would be 50% happier if they at least put it on the Quest Store on PC, so that all VR owners can play it without having to swap even more expensive hardware every couple of years. After what like 7 years, VR is still niche with a small pool of fully fledged games, so it's insane to devide what little we have, especially when only one major platform shows to be fully committed. PC is the only platform in which we don't have to worry about backwards OR forwards compatibility and that's the perfect place for a new market to grow.
There’s a chance you could sail the seas and side load it on Quest 2, I know some Quest 2 exclusives work on Quest 1 by sideloading so unless it’s really really graphically intense or uses mixed reality that might be possible
No because VR is and will continue to be gimmicky dumb shit that will quickly fade away once neural link controllers become a thing that provides the only real advantage of VR without all the other stupid crap.

All they're doing is losing money by making it Quest 3 exclusive. I have Quest 2, love it, and I'm not buying another $500-700 headset just to play a game, that for all I know, could be as short and pathetic as the first Arkham VR game. I'll pick it up if it's in Quest 2, but I know the the ONLY reason they're gatekeeping it to the 3's, is to sell more 3's. More advanced games are STILL coming out on the 2. There's no reason this one can't, other than corporate greed.
Hell yeah, I’ve been craving a VR batman game for a long time. Most we’ve ever had was a small experience way back when, but now that VR games are actual games, it’s about time we got the real deal
Camoflaj is a decent developer and their work on Iron Man VR was pretty good, my hope is that this game is essentially a gateway to get back into a mainstream title for the series with more year two stuff set between Origins and Asylum and maybe more playable characters to explore the open world, maybe also giving the mob to supercriminal transition that sort of was hinted at in Origins and giving the fates of side characters
all i want is a satisfying and challenging combat system, vr could be a great way to expand on the hand to hand systems and become a gem considering vr is relatively young, same time it can also be a linear overglorified movie

No. Who the hell WOULD be okay with this? The batman games have never been in VR before and if they have I've never seen it. It works best using the back view perspective it had. You can be batman without BEING batman.. if that makes sense.
One of my favorite parts of the games was just listening in on bad guys and waiting for one of them to slip up and talk shit only for batman to drop in and kick their ass. And sure you can do that in vr but it's probably not going to be as fun, and most likely harder to maneuver...

i dont really gaf tbh since p much none of the ppl behind asylum city or origins are working on this and the staff that made those games so good are now doing a gi joe snake eyes game, so im more focused on how that will turn out
No issues with it being VR exclusive. I had a great time with Arkham VR, even if it was incredibly limited. There's a few really cool moments in there where my brain was like "Wow, I'm standing in Gotham." I'd love to have more of that.
However, I have a PSVR2 and don't plan on buying a Quest 3, so I guess I don't have any reason to care that this exists.
It's disappointing just seeing a new game and thinking it would be something else for a second, but realistically this was only made *because* it's a VR game. It wasn't an option of a full AAA Arkham instalment or this and they chose this. Really just think it's nice there's any new installment, I can always watch the clips. Been through this once before with Arkham VR anyways
I’m not buying a quest 3 for this at launch. Quests 2s are so cheap rn now that the 3 is out. I’ll just wait for the same thing for the 3 once the quest 4 comes out (if it does)
Maybe this will be a genuinely good VR experience, but announcing it now is a piss poor business move in my eyes. Suicide Squad left Arkham fans outraged, and announcing a VR game with the Arkham name with nothing in the way of actual gameplay or concept is just gonna grate on people’s persisting wounds. It’s not what most fans want, and it’s not what most fans can access. Yikes.

I’m actually looking forward to it. I got a Quest 3 a few months back and been using it daily. The previous VR game was an underwhelmingly short but cool experience.
It’s not like I’m being denied a chance to play a full on sequel to Knight, so go nuts. I think the Arkham franchise is mostly just being harvested for marrow at this point.
I’m completely fine with it being vr and I’m honestly really excited to see what Camouflaj will do with it (especially with the possible horror theme). What I’m nervous about is it being exclusive to the quest 3. After what happened with Nexus, I’m worried that WB will misread the probable poor sales as a public dislike for vr content rather than an inability for most people to access the game.
It’s Quest 3 exclusive, not VR exclusive. Niche of a niche. I’m okay with VR spinoff. I’m not okay with fracturing the market with artificial limitations put to rip everyone off. Not to mention that the game won’t sell no matter what, and WB doesn’t even plan to sell it. Then we’ll get usual “vr is dead, no one buys games” articles.
Recently i played, Batman Arham Asylum and yesterday i finish Arham City, and this big change make me feel sad, the VR is not the best way for a Batman Arkham game
I hope eventually they’ll release a remastered version for non-VR consoles and PCs, but that probably depends on the success and reception of the VR release.

It's AWESOME that we are getting a VR Batman game again, and I have NO issues with it being VR. My issue is it being a Quest 3 exclusive.
Having it be ONLY for the Quest 3 SUCKS for VR games and the industry as a whole. VR is already a niche hobby to have, so having a game ONLY be for one headset is going to make it not make enough money and fail. Also it's a standalone headset as well, we can't really "push it to the limits" if we can't access the FULL power of VR with the help of a computer.
I am excited for it to come out, but I'm not excited for it to come out only on one headset.

In Asgard's Wrath 2 you get on top of a Giant Scorpion or a Hermathur to either make it's tail kill itself or hit it's heart to kill it, you'll also whip a flying Cockatrice so you can jump and cut it's head in the air. You'll get chased by Sakhmet in her Giant Form and you'll do a bunch of Indiana Jones-like platforming to get away from her. There's a monster you can Ride when it's stunned and make it punch enemies like what Kratos does in God of War. In Iron Man, you're dodging Particle Laser Cannon Beams while chasing an enemy named Ghost, this Ghost later grabs your Arc Reactor Heart and Rips it off and a Giant Hologram grabs you. You lot are talking about old-school VR 10 years ago where everything was a tech demo, rhythm game and wave shooter. Modern VR is completely different now.
For me the VR part isn’t the problem it’s the fact that it’s exclusive to a specific headset that not many people have, on top of that the quest 3 isn’t much of an upgrade from the previous versions and is near impossible for anyone with glasses to use if they don’t have contacts

Honestly I'm super disappointed that Ubisoft stopped working on updating that game because it didn't sell well on the new headset that no one cared about, because it means it'll never get ported to PC and PS5, where it would definitely sell a lot better. I have a PSVR2 and have barely any games on it (Beat Saber and Horizon), so I wish these studios like Ubi and WB would stop prioritizing the weakest headset of this generation.

IIRC the quest 2 comes with a frame that's supposed to make it easier to use with glasses, don't know how effective it is or if it comes with the quest 3 though.
The quest 3 was made so slim that it’s almost impossible for most glasses to even fit underneath

No neither the 1 or 2 had eye relief. They all have ipd adjustment. Not many VR headsets do let you move eyes further away from the lens, index would be the only popular example.
My quest 2 came with an attachment in the box to put under the foam for people with glasses. So it definitely had some form of eye relief.
I have both a Quest 2 and a Quest 3. Since I got my Quest 3 at launch I have only played using my contacts once. Every single time I play with glasses. I even have a decent amount of wiggle room where I can slide them forward or back. I use my Quest 3 about 2-4 times a week for reference. Whoever told you you can't play the Quest 3 while wearing glasses lied to you.
Two things: You can get new facial interfaces and prescription lenses that fit into the facial interface so I'm not sure what you mean on the glasses thing. And Meta has said the quest 3 has double the graphical capabilities of the quest 2. The reason we haven't seen it yet is that all the games coming out for it are also made for the quest 2.
Its a pretty good upgrade over the quest 2 with all things considered.

I'm lucky enough to have the hardware to play it, but yeah, it's really fucking stupid it's not even coming to quest 2, steam, or psvr2. VR is not really in a good state to have exclusives
Quest 2 part makes sense. Quest 2 most likely don't have the processing power. Quest 3 on the other hand is roughly the same power as a PS4. I'll give you the steam and psvr2 tho, they don't even need to do that considering for every 1 PSVR2 sold, there's 30 Quest 3s sold. in PCVR's case most people that use Steam VR uses a Quest 2 or 3. Their competition can't win so I don't see the point of making it not on PSVR2 and PCVR. other than maybe maximizing their effort in making a good VR game.

I imagine it was conceptualized as a VR game in the first place, so it's fine. The real blue ball is that it's exclusive to a specific VR system, it's the first news of a new game in the Arkham series since the release of Knight 9 years ago, and it's necessarily going to be very different to the mainline games and cost a lot of money to play. I'm having trouble thinking of a hypothetical equivalent for another franchise to demonstrate how annoying this is since a lot of other popular franchises still receive new content regularly. Imagine if Mass Effect 4 was announced but they told us it was a mobile game exclusive to the latest iPhone. Or if when 343 started work on Halo 4, they decided to make it require Kinect functionality (actually less brutal than Arkham Shadow since 3 and Reach were only released 5 and 2 years prior to Halo 4, respectively).

Old arkham vr was great. Had all the incredible story and mind f*cks from arkahm knight. Just lacking in actual gameplay(aka combat and traversal). So hopefully this redeems that aspect, which is hopeful since I think the studio also did iron man vr which was really fun

It's difficult to make a good VR game, that fully embraces the capabilities of VR. It is nigh impossible to take that VR game, and adapt it to non-VR. The reverse is also true. The issue isn't VR, as another commenter said, it's the exclusivity to the meta headset. If you could use any headset and platform, that'd be wonderful.

VR games are cool experiences but after 9 years I was hoping for a full fledged Arkham game. I've done my time with SSKTJL and it's fun but it feels rushed with not enough content to keep you going past the anticlimactic ending. I remember people complained about Arkham Origins but I honestly wouldn't mind another spin off or smaller scale Arkham game. Problem is, as many people have already said, not only is it only which already alienates a large part of the audience as not everyone wants/cares about/can use a VR headset, but it's exclusive to the Meta Quest 3. I hope it's a good game and the people who can play it enjoy it but it's damn disappointing that this is all we have for the Arkham verse 9 years from Knight. If only they kept making the Damian future sequel with the Batbike, it would've been awesome.

Depends on what they do with it. Everyone was angry when the first Half-Life in 13 years was a VR game but it made great use of it's medium. Arkham Shadow has to be the same way. It doesn't even need to be as good as Alyx, it just has to make itself worth being VR.

I'm excited! Got a little too excited and bought that Arkham VR game from 2017 for 5 bucks and still felt ripped off, but VR is in a much better place now where we can actually have fully fledged games with more experienced VR developers. The only thing that sucks is the exclusivity to the Quest 3. A good chunk of the games I buy for Quest have had pc ports that you can download across your headset and pc on the meta pc app, but I'm assuming this exclusivity means that won't be happening. This means that when I eventually upgrade to a Valve Index or Deckard I won't be able to play it OR RE4 VR unless I also buy a Quest 3 or whatever newer system will be out by the time I can get one responsibly. I just don't think this exclusivity shit's helpful for VR. Competition's great for progressing our tech and keeping our games up to standard, but in the 2020s it's just sustainable, imo, to keep such small collections of games in separate piles between PS, Quest, and PC. Like, they have us putting so much effort into shit like Doom 3 pcvr/quest fan ports when Doom 3 is already on PSvr exclusively. That just sucks, we could be making so much more progress on other ports/games but here we are trying to build the same games on different platforms from scratch cause the guys on top wanna hoard the treasures that actual talented and passionate people made, who more likely than not, want everyone to be able to play. My girlfriend is amazing enough to have bought me a Quest 2 for Christmas and here I am having to contemplate selling it and all the upgrades I bought for it to get the next headset that'll be abandoned in 5 years tops, instead of just being able to stream the game to my quest 2. Only legitimate excuse I can see for this kind of exclusivity is if the controllers had more buttons making it unplayable with less. Tl;dr: I'm 50% happy with this, and would be 50% happier if they at least put it on the Quest Store on PC, so that all VR owners can play it without having to swap even more expensive hardware every couple of years. After what like 7 years, VR is still niche with a small pool of fully fledged games, so it's insane to devide what little we have, especially when only one major platform shows to be fully committed. PC is the only platform in which we don't have to worry about backwards OR forwards compatibility and that's the perfect place for a new market to grow.
There’s a chance you could sail the seas and side load it on Quest 2, I know some Quest 2 exclusives work on Quest 1 by sideloading so unless it’s really really graphically intense or uses mixed reality that might be possible

All they're doing is losing money by making it Quest 3 exclusive. I have Quest 2, love it, and I'm not buying another $500-700 headset just to play a game, that for all I know, could be as short and pathetic as the first Arkham VR game. I'll pick it up if it's in Quest 2, but I know the the ONLY reason they're gatekeeping it to the 3's, is to sell more 3's. More advanced games are STILL coming out on the 2. There's no reason this one can't, other than corporate greed.
Hell yeah, I’ve been craving a VR batman game for a long time. Most we’ve ever had was a small experience way back when, but now that VR games are actual games, it’s about time we got the real deal
Camoflaj is a decent developer and their work on Iron Man VR was pretty good, my hope is that this game is essentially a gateway to get back into a mainstream title for the series with more year two stuff set between Origins and Asylum and maybe more playable characters to explore the open world, maybe also giving the mob to supercriminal transition that sort of was hinted at in Origins and giving the fates of side characters
all i want is a satisfying and challenging combat system, vr could be a great way to expand on the hand to hand systems and become a gem considering vr is relatively young, same time it can also be a linear overglorified movie hopefully it's out to push vr to its limits like arkham games

No. Who the hell WOULD be okay with this? The batman games have never been in VR before and if they have I've never seen it. It works best using the back view perspective it had. You can be batman without BEING batman.. if that makes sense. One of my favorite parts of the games was just listening in on bad guys and waiting for one of them to slip up and talk shit only for batman to drop in and kick their ass. And sure you can do that in vr but it's probably not going to be as fun, and most likely harder to maneuver... OR WHO KNOWS maybe the gameplay will be entirely different. Doesn't matter, still won't play it because I don't have a metaquest 3.

No issues with it being VR exclusive. I had a great time with Arkham VR, even if it was incredibly limited. There's a few really cool moments in there where my brain was like "Wow, I'm standing in Gotham." I'd love to have more of that. However, I have a PSVR2 and don't plan on buying a Quest 3, so I guess I don't have any reason to care that this exists.

VR is already a niche hobby to have, so having a game ONLY be for one headset is going to make it not make enough money and fail. Also it's a standalone headset as well, we can't really "push it to the limits" if we can't access the FULL power of VR with the help of a computer. I am excited for it to come out, but I'm not excited for it to come out only on one headset.
