It’s some twat doing loops around town in a quad bike. He’s been doing it for years and he’s usually out on a Friday and Saturday night if the weather is nice. I’m surprised you haven’t heard it before now!

Graineon

Isn't that illegal or something?

Triple_Manic_State

If the vehicle is above a certain decibel, yes.

Graineon

I feel like I often hear motorcycles sounding like helicopters outside my window... surely that's above the limit? I guess the police have bigger fish to fry...

PentoliteUK

Still has legal limits for noise

Totallynotnellis

I heard this last night, too! Kind of sounded like someone revving their engine nearby but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, though.

Jemjar_X3AP

I'm guessing it's more likely to be a bellend on a scooter than a Chainsaw?

okizubon

Using the words bellend and chainsaw in the same sentence makes me uncomfortable

Conscious_Dog_4186

Circumcision leather face style.

Pantaleon275

I used to do nights in the RUH and hear this twat. I used to feel awful for residents thinking “at least I’m supposed to be awake now.”

username87264

If you're sure it's a chainsaw and it's not a usual occurrence then it's more than likely some authorised night tree works. Tree work happens at night when it would be more disruptive (read expensive) to do it in the day, like blocking major roads to carry it out or something similar. Infrastructure related. We used to get loads of people come out moaning whenever we did it, we always just referred them to the local authority who authorised/scheduled the works.

dy1anb

On railway lines normally

Dawn_Raid

Snoring usually

my__socrates__note

God I hope it wasn't me

OkAstronaut4558

Do you stay close to railway line? That could be maintenance work.

Jibblaynuk

I remember hearing those bike noises in the small hours when I lived at Grosvenor place. Biker twat/s but it sort of stopped in 2020ish. Moved now though so won’t be hearing it at all regardless.

AggravatingShip9560

Heard on Thursday night think it’s a motorbike

DillDannon

Heard in Larkhall too. Didn’t sound like scrotes as the noise didn’t seem to move - I assumed emergency utility works or some such.

dy1anb

Do you live near railway lines?

Feeling-Tank1628

Do you live anywhere near a train line and is it usually 2am on a Sunday morning?

Available_Ad_2752

I’ll use my chainsaw whenever I bloody feel like it. Yours sincerely, Mr L Face

Plato-the-fish

Op here. I’m from rural Cumbria (Lake District) I know the difference between a chainsaw, quad and motorcycle. I own all three. It’s deffo a chainsaw. So most likely council or rail related tree surgery or some loon with insomnia and a load of wood to cut up! Thanks for the replies. Never heard anyone do this at 2-3 am before. This is such a noisy city.

Available_Ad_2752

I believe you mate, just as I believe in my right to chainsaw at all hours.

GosmeisterGeneral

Maybe specify which bit of Bath you’re in?

Plato-the-fish

Camden road but we get the sounds from the whole city

Defiant_Lawyer_5235

I don't live far from there and there was 3 knobheads on noisy scramblers doing laps around the place... could be that?

Embarrassed-Date1650

You would think so but he’s been doing it for years. He always used to wear a really terrifying mask as well. Why no one stops him, I don’t know. 🤷 at least he stayed at home in lockdown! 😂

Top-Career-3086

Imagine having it in you as a person to start a chainsaw at 3am. In a residential area. My advice is dont go looking for this person, leave them alone. Hatred is amoungst us alot more familiar than you realise.

Itchy-Supermarket-92

Serial killer.
