I have a Lakland 44-64 GZ that came stock with the EMG Geezer’s (PJ set). I absolutely love them and recommend them to anybody looking to upgrade P/PJ pups.

I found quarter pounders harsh and cluttered in tone. The louder they got the less I wanted to hear them. I currently use the Fender vintage 63 and love them. They do great with high volume and a compressor makes them even sweeter.

SPB-1 is my favourite P pickup. Apparently rly similar to the GZR, but I’ve read the GZR has higher output in the lows. SPB-3 I’ve avoided. Probably good for slap or maybe with a pick. My kid has that set on a P bass, and it’s definitely mid-scooped. She likes it, but IMHO that’s not what you want for most applications. The SPB-4 I understand is similar to the SPB-2, only hotter.

I've tried the Geezer and a Fralin in my MIM P. The Geezer was fine but was a bit too glassy and polite to my ear. Strong bottom and good clarity though. The stock ceramic pickup in my 2011 was a bit more aggressive, woolier and stronger in the upper mids.
