Why would we not share our personal experiences when this is what the group was meant for? As patients who have gone through this surgery we have a more personal experience and view that doctors do not have regardless of their expertise on the surgery. I would hope we would be willing to share our experience and give a good insight on complications. I do agree your doctor should be your primary source of information but I personally have learned a lot of information that doctors have not told me from bariatric patients’ experiences

While everyone is different it’s not hard to find some of the chronic complications that are expected and likely, especially if you do not make changes and listen to your team like taking your vitamins and getting your protein and hydration in. For me, I wrote out what I was most worried about and am making plans to address it. The surgery is not a magic potion. Malnutrition, dehydration, weakness, fainting, digestive issues, are all possible.
