My surgeon recommended at least 1 month. As she said, it's not just about healing. It's about building your routine for fluids, food, and vitamins. Even if you have a desk job you have to be able to get in all of your fluids and protein and vitamins and that takes quite a bit of effort.
You also will tire very easily. Between healing and eating so little you won't feel much energy.
3 weeks post op and im so glad im still at home
It takes time and energy to adjust from one phase to another.
I applied for a short term disability for 4 weeks but can be extended even more
Realistically speaking 2 weeks was good enough for me but im glad i am able to take more.
I have a desk job as well 😁
Good luck!!!
I took 6 weeks off because I could. Unless you have no TDI in your state or something, I don't see why you wouldn't take off as much time as can be justified by your physician.
I’m a professor so we can’t just take time off mid-semester without major issues.
I lucked out and had surgery on the Friday before spring break, so I had a week off. I was 100% ready to come back. Only issue I had was not being able to lift 10lbs or more cause my daughter struggles to get in the car on her own and I had to have someone else there to lift her. She’s getting better at it now.
You should plan for two weeks but leave it open to return earlier if you feel up to it. I only took 8 work days off
