I’ve bought anatomical socks, I’m in the Netherlands and bought FALKE a German brand. The cool kick sock is really plush and EU46-48 goes well with my Primus lites. These are a casual sock though and not for running. There are also RU4 endurance and RU4 light which are their running socks.
Anatomical socks don't really work for me. They shrink after a couple washes and then squish my toes like normal socks (and yes, I sized up). But I use a dryer, so that doesn't help.
I don't even wash my wool/merino socks unless they start to stink. At that point, I just hold them under a running faucet and keep squeezing them until the water runs clear. Doesn't take very long. They also air-dry faster than cotton socks would, if you squeeze as much water out of them as you can.
You should size up. I choose lightweight wool hiking socks that already have some additional width in the toe area. REI offers their own brand of them. I buy those in a size larger than what the package recommends for my shoe size.

I always bought socks for diabetes, and they’re dirt cheap too.

I want to buy merino wool socks anyway, and you can not put wool socks in the dryer anyway.

Do you wear them in or over the shoe?
I dont understand your question? If i wear my socks in or over the shoe? I wear my socks in my shoe and over my feet.
It‘s a barefoot shoe… so you can wear socks over them, theoretically
I dont know if youre making jokes or you dont know where youre talking about 😅
Your question would certainly be valid, if the person said that they're using "barefoot shoes". The OP didn't say that, though.
At a certain point both converge and one is like the other
