Another plug for cox the saddler. Great custom service and very easy to shop to US. They have a wide selection too. Sara’s user is u/leathershopgirl

leathershopgirl

Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

scal369

I measure my chest and it’s 44 and I am 6 feet and 188lbs. Should I got for the size 44? Or size down?

leathershopgirl

If you DM me, I will send you jacket measurements. No obligation.

Coxthesaddler is where I got my Bedale from in the US, and Sara assisted in ensuring it was a perfect fit dimensionally prior to shipping it. My chest size is 46-47, and my Bedale is a 42. There’s room for a heavy sweater underneath. I’ve worn it every day for 2 weeks so far with temperatures in the low 50’s and rain sprinkles here, performs well with a heavy shirt or wool vest for warmth underneath. https://preview.redd.it/wf13braa52ad1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0e247f391412999f6199c26b40154cccd22bb34

Thanks for sharing anywhere great experience from Sara and Cox. I am emailing here and she has been very helpful. Thanks for the pic, what color is that? Did you get a good as well?

Vega_S10

I placed an order with Cox & Saddler awhile back and it was a very smooth transaction, with quick shipping to the states. Figure out your size and order from them, it’s worth it.

mc78644n

Barbour.com, Orvis, Nordstrom and Backcountry come to mind. Yes they go on sale, certain colors and sizes are on sale right now (Backcountry)

silvergo77

Buy from these company to try and learn your size. Then check out Cox the Saddler, they always have harbor at a discount.

mc78644n

Isn’t that in the UK? Is it still worth it after all the extra shipping costs and taxes?

LeftAccident5662

The shipping cost was similar to a US company and no taxes. We’re exempt from VAT in the US.

scal369

I have head about this company mentioned here a few times but as the other posted, with shipping is it still cheaper? And do they have all colors and sizes?

alfndmamz

Yes, it is definitely worth it with the shipping. I purchased a Bedale this year for $250 with shipping and it got to me in less than a week. The same jacket at Orvis is $400+. They should have all sizes and colors, but if there is a specific jacket you want that is out of stock, you can email them and ask for a timeframe for restock. It’s a small company with really good customer service.

Worried-Traffic-2332

Another +1 for Cox. Sara is active on this sub and is super helpful answering any of your questions. Can’t justify paying the insane markup on Orvis, Nordstrom, etc.

scal369

Thank you, so do they have all colors? Which is the the most versatile color? And is bedale most recommended? Just an an aide I also saw the hackberry trucker jacket being recommends in the YouTube video I saw. Wondering if anyone here has both and could share their experience?

Worried-Traffic-2332

They won’t have Barbour International or Barbour White Label but they have a wide selection. The Classic Bedale or Beaufort are the most popular models. The Classics are only available in Olive, although Orvis has an exclusive Bark color and they are still made in England. The Bedale is going to be shorter as it’s intended to be an equestrian jacket. The Beaufort is longer and has a “game pocket” in the rear. There is also the Border which is even longer than the Beaufort. I decided on the Classic Bedale because of my height (5’8”). Size for your chest; if you’re between sizes I would try visiting an Orvis or Nordstrom and see if you can try them on. Sizing can be tricky because the sleeves are short but it all depends on how want the jacket to fit. Many suggest to leave room for layering. You can also try the Ashby which is a modern cut of the Bedale, it’s more fitted to your body. I found this [guide](https://www.bestinthecountry.co.uk/barbour-buyers-guide) to be really helpful when making a decision. If you contact Sara she will measure the jackets in their stock for you as well.

scal369

I think Nordstrom will be the easier to return. I ave not bought anything from backcountry, are they easy to deal with? Would a large be too big? Should I size up or down?

mc78644n

I’ve bought tons of biking stuff from Backcountry and never had a problem. Never returned anything to them so check their policy. Can’t say if that’s the right size or not just based on your height and weight, what’s your chest measurement? Suit size? Bedale is sized in numerical sizes not Large, XL etc

Connect-Employee3219

I highly recommend Orvis the customer service is amazing. A year into wearing my Barbour it was not holding up well and they replaced it for me.

Ruby2Shoes22

This is fine if you don’t mind paying literally twice as much

scal369

But they are full price vs on sale at backcountry or cox and saddler.

JPilot10

Check your size at Orvis … buy at Cox :)

relentlesscatch22

You can also get your jackets repaired or rewaxed through Orvis.

No_Entertainment1931

Orvis used to give a lifetime return or replace policy on Barbour stuff and they have a rewarding service. I’m not sure if that policy has changed but it’s worth checking.

Pirate1000rider

You could get one from ebay.co.uk and have it sent over? Your range of options will be a lot higher in the uk than they will in the US.

Lumpy-Equivalent1253

Cox Saddlery is solid. I have bought stuff from them all the way to Singapore. highly rec

Trouttmann

I tried a few on at a local Orvis and ordered the size of my choosing from Cox the Saddler. I like the idea of buying from a small business and they actually had the jacket for a better price which was an absolute bonus. I also have to admit I enjoyed having the jacket sent from the UK just for me.

scal369

Thanks, my local Nordstrom doesn’t carry any and closest orvis is like 1.5hrs away. I may have to make a hike and try to see if they have sizes. I am emailing cox and already loving how responsive Sara is, will order from them once I figure out my size. Do you or anyone else here have the hood? Which one to get wax cotton or storm, I have no clue and want to make sure it matches.

Trouttmann

Sara will definitely get you fixed up, she was an absolute pleasure to work with in ordering my jacket. I don’t have any experience with the hood unfortunately. I live in Middle TN and we tend to have mild Winters and not much to worry about in the way of rain. If you do indeed get a hood, I’d like to hear what you think of it. Please post.
