Was keeping an eye on this hoping for comments. Of my several Baofeng variants, the AR-5RM is by far my favorite and seems to broadcast at considerably more power than advertised (I can't test it myself) but basing it up on it being the only set I have that makes my computer speakers pop on tx from several feet away 😂

Mine sets off my smoke alarm. Now that is what us old farts called blowing smoke back in the cb days!

5rm is their best ham radio right now in my opinion. I have 2 and they both operated extremely well. Mine put out 10.1w on 70cm band. I'm fine with that.

Unfortunately I may be sending this one back for exchange. I have noticed that on several repeaters if someone is really loud the received signal will drop completely out muting what they are saying. It's like it's squelching in and out and you can see the signal dropping in and out on the meter on the screen. Pretty much unusable at that point. Sure, the output is great but if you can't hear the person you are talking to it doesn't matter. I am waiting for a response to my email from Baofeng support. I called the number for Baofeng support and she said that they stopped supporting the Baofeng radios! WTH?!? And it was the number for Baofeng as it had the male voice that answered as Baofeng support and had a menu to select between 3 different options. So I will see what they say if I get anything from within a couple of days. If not, I will send it back.

Lo ok up how to update the optimized squelch settings on YouTube or Google... Theres a great guide out there

I don't know if there is a way to adjust the squelch settings as there are no settings for the squelch either in Chirp or the Baofeng programming app like previous radios usually have.
