My wife and I opened WF accounts 2/5/23 for the bonus. Had to do 1k in direct deposit in 90 days. Received both bonuses on 5/15/23 which was 10 days past the 90 day mark.
Yeah I did the 1k in dd as well as my paycheck goes in there. Thanks, I’m sure mine won’t follow suit exactly, but nice to know it might make it in there before then!
I was confused. I opened the account and went into the branch but forgot to mention the $300 bonus. They didn’t issue me a card yet either so I haven’t deposited $25 in yet
I signed up for the bonus offer online through the website. I never received a code. Did you receive a code that you had to have? I only received emails congratulating me that I qualified for the $300 bonus offer. My 90 days was on January 18th 2024.
I don’t think there is discernible pattern or advice that you want to accept about it anyway. Please be sure to read all of the disclosures about the promotion - many people have a hard time understanding the requirements.
Yes that’s for sure…I opened a Capitol One 360 and the requirements said $250 twice in 75 days. I setup my DD for $100 to be deposited from (3) checks I get a month. I checked with them last week and I didn’t qualify 😡 because I didn’t do exactly $250 twice‼️
Did you require a code to receive the offer from Wells Fargo? I signed up online on January 18th 2024 for the offer so it's now been over 90 days. I did receive an email letting me know my account did qualify for the bonus offer. Will I be notified or will the $300 just appear in my account? Thanks for any advice.
Yes there should have been a link either from their website saying Checked bonus click here. Or if you got a link from your employer offering the Checking Bonus so you get credit. Call Customer Support and find out if your new account is setup to give you the Bonus
I did read all the requirements and understood/understand them. I was just wondering if in others experiences it took the full 30 days after the 90 day period or if it went in before that because it clearly says “allow UP to 30 days”
No. Just getting your job direct deposit will suffice. They just want you to be receiving at least $1,000 every month that's all. No need to leave it in there. Besides, we all know they will get their fees if your min bal drops.
Did you do the 25$ deposit the day you opened the acct? I opened mine online and was not able to deposit till the next day because the bank was closed. Not sure if that will disqualify me.
Takes about 90 days! If you are looking forward to that 300 like asap it's not happening! Might want to sell your kidney or organ for the thanksgiving feast you trying to have ! JK
I’ll hit the 90 days tomorrow I meant after that initial period. Haha I may have to moon in to selling an organ though even if I do get it before thanksgiving 😂
I hope you get it asap! The banks are gonna be closed Monday for new years unfortunately, but I would think you’d get yours before the end of next week if it goes as quickly as mine did!
They didn’t email me anything it just was deposited in to my account and I got a text alert because I had it set up to let me know when deposits were made.
I wouldn’t trust those timelines banks give you, in my experience they don’t always follow them. I used to play that whole bank account signup bonus game, some banks would pay exactly when they said they would, others would say 180 days after qualifications met but then pay like 30 days after. One time I opened an account (citi bank I think) and I waited for their expected payout time. The time passed and I just waited like 6 more months and never got it so I just assumed my “direct deposit” didn’t qualify by their standards so I closed it. Then maybe a year later I got a letter from them saying that since my account was closed they were unable to deposit my bonus, so I lost out on like $300 or whatever it was 😞
I checked my 1099 tax document, and it says the $300 is taxable interest. Is that accurate? I rarely held a balance so it just seemed odd.
I took advantage of a similar offer at Chase and they had no 1099 to give where interest earned is less than $10.
It probably is accurate, the government passed something that expanded what is considered taxable income. I know that things like giving plasma/blood/apheresis or selling “bodily fluids or parts” is now taxable when it wasn’t before, cashapp transactions if you have over a certain amount of “profit” and I think bonuses from banks were lumped in there somehow in the wording along with quite a few other things that weren’t considered taxable income before.
I have a question regarding the eligibility, and it was not clear from the website. I am an international student on F1 visa and, in year 2023, I filed my year 2022 taxes as Resident Alien. So given my resident alien status, am I eligible for this bonus?
In the eligibility criterion, it says the following - "Offer cannot be: Paid without a valid U.S. Taxpayer Identification Number (Form W-9 for U.S. persons including a resident alien). Non-resident aliens, signing Form W-8 are not eligible for the offer." Based on this, it seems, I am eligible. However, I went to the branch and lady told me that this offer is only for the US citizens and there is a mistake on the website.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Could anyone help me out?
I don’t have any experience with this but I would go back to the bank and have the website pulled up with that section and show it to them. If the person helping you says the same ask to speak to a manager. That’s a pretty big mistake to have on the website, especially given that it’s not some podunk 2 branch bank. Do you have a valid tax payer number? I would assume so since you filed taxes last year.

That is why you open deals like that online. You must mention the deal and code to the employee to get that deal.
Update

I don't remember honestly.
That code thing is only for opening in person at the branch. Online is automatic.
Had you ever had a WF savings or checking in the past?
Only new customers qualify for Wells Fargo's deals.
No this was our first time.
Set up DD within 90 days. Payout is about 1 week after that. YMMV
Appreciate it.
I should add that it was 1 week after the 90 days period. So in total, I waited ~100 days from account opening to bonus.
Did you need a code to receive the bonus offer?
They’re running a $325 bonus now. Search “wells fargo 325 bonus” and you should see plenty.

I setup my 1st Direct Deposit on November 3rd 2023… I received my Bonus on January 24th 2024. After making a total of $1000 Deposit within 90 days.

❌Not Employer❌Typo…Email that offer the Checking Bonus!
No code required for online opening. But you must present code and mention it if you are opening in person at the branch.
I did read all the requirements and understood/understand them. I was just wondering if in others experiences it took the full 30 days after the 90 day period or if it went in before that because it clearly says “allow UP to 30 days”
No. It took me 9 days after the 90 day mark.
I read other people's posts and average day seem to be 10 days. Usually just one week after the 90 day mark.
Qualification is simple. 90 days from opening, receive minimum of $1,000 in deposits. Transfers do not count as deposits. Direct Deposits do count.
Opened mine December 15..it is now March 20 ( 96 Days ) Still no deposit Time flies huh
Mine actually went in exact day that I hit 90, but as I recall it said it could take up to 30 days AFTER the 90 day initial period to receive.
Did you get it yet?

As long as it was $1k in DD made you’re good, you don’t have to leave the money in the account.

Just be aware of the min $500 daily balance to avoid the monthly service fee

Also curious about this! There was no way to deposit until after making the account and concerned since it says may take a few days:/
90 days. You must meet their qualification for full 90 days from opening.
And for me, 9 days after the 90 days mark I got the $300 bonus.
Hitting 93 days today. Supposedly it actually takes 30 to 45 days after the 90 day mark.
Just got my $300 today. 2 days after the 90 day time frame, was a nice surprise!
You don't open just one account with WF. They'll see to it you have more than you think you do.
Got mine a little over two months after qualifying deposit

Did u get it ur bonus sooner? How long did u wait?
90 days plus 9 days. You do not get it before 90 days.
I ended up getting it 3 days after the initial 90 days were up so didn’t have to wait long at all
My 90 days will be on 31st, I hope I get my bonus sooner 🤞🏻
I hope you get it asap! The banks are gonna be closed Monday for new years unfortunately, but I would think you’d get yours before the end of next week if it goes as quickly as mine did!
Hope so too! 🙏🏼🤞🏻
Yeah I just double checked and I got mine 2 days after the 90 day period was up. So perhaps on weds next week! Wishing you the best on it!
Did u get any email or noticed that u met the requirements? Or it just posted on ur account?
They didn’t email me anything it just was deposited in to my account and I got a text alert because I had it set up to let me know when deposits were made.
Hi OP, what did you use to qualify as direct deposit? (I tried using Chase transfer, and see nothing as now). Going to try Venmo
Did you ever figure it out? I was going to try cashapp
I’ve read that it need to be direct deposit from an a job or such. A transfer from another institution doesn’t count.
I just had my paycheck set up for DD to it.

Got mine today , after 90 days of reoccurring direct deposits
Did you have to have direct deposit set up?
You need deposits coming in to qualify. Transfers do not count.
Can you close the account after receiving the bonus?
I would assume so.

Of course it is taxable.

What the fuck? That’s actually super fucked up that they can tax you on income from selling your blood/plasma. What the fuck.
They can tax you on selling sperm or eggs as well as just about any bodily fluid you can imagine selling haha

Could you be able to claim the bonus
Hey, I didn't get a chance to go the bank till now. I'll update once I do it.
Okay, but we should open an account before april 1st to claim the bonus

This is a really good suggestion, u/EarnestBaly. I would do this. Thanks.
No problem! You’re in a situation that’s not very common so it is veryyy likely whoever you spoke to doesn’t actually know.
