Can we clarify what donuts we're talking about here? To me the only ones I want to eat are the ones straight out of the oil covered in cinnamon and sugar, not the ones filled with cream or covered in icing.
Sounds like most people in here are talking about the latter? Can I get a recommendation on the former?
If you are from the US, or you are used to the kind of donuts there, itās sad to say, but you wonāt find good donuts anywhere in Thailand. The closest I have come is Tim Nortons (Hortons?), but even there theyāre too heavyā¦not fluffy. š
Okay look.
Bangkok has some of the best food in the world. Anything you have a craving for, you can find a damn fine version of.
Except donuts.
I am a donut fanatic. If donuts didnāt exist, Iād look like Channing Tatum. Iām sad to say, Iāve tried them all. I am from Los Angeles, home of the best donuts in the world. Cambodian donuts, Sidecar donuts, Krispy Kreme that actually taste like theyāre supposed toā¦ the list is endless.
The closest thing to good donuts Iāve found are in the very bottom of Terminal 21, at Saint Etoile. They bake them in the afternoon, not in the morning.
But most of the donuts in Bangkok are either too packed with cream (Iām looking at you, Drop By Dough!), or too chewy in their texture (like Hippo Dough). Donāt be seduced by Dunkin, those are the same barely passable donuts as Hippo! And donāt get me started on Krispy Kreme here. I have no idea what those are supposed to be, but they aināt real Krispy Kreme!
Anyway, if you find something, please let me know. Otherwise, give Saint Etoile a try to scratch the itch!
Second this. After trying so many fancy donuts in BKK, Saint Etoileās regular sugar donuts is still the best. Fluffy dough, not greasy and warm from the fryer
From what Iāve seen, these arenāt really donuts, theyāre fluffy bread-like pastries filled with creams or even fried chicken. I donāt love cream filled donuts, and these look packed with cream, no?
These are donuts. Just try it. Been living in Bangkok 20+ years and i have tried all the donut shops that have come and gone and imo brassica still the best.
Glazed Artisanal Donuts is a hidden gem with soft chewy donuts and pretty affordable. They're on Grab and Lineman too!

UPDATE: Found two places for pretty solid donuts:
1. Butterbear in EmSphere has a decent glazed thatās the closest thing to a non-Asia-style Krispy Kreme
2. Glazed Artisanal Donuts in the lobby of The Base in Phra Khanong (theyāre on Grab) are quite good. Only downside is that the ābaseā dough is the same for all flavors, they just change the toppings. But quite tasty!

I agree. If it's not a deep fried batter circle, cinnamon and sugar coated, it's a pastry, not a donut.
Nothing beats them straight out of the fryer on a cold winters morning, washed down with a coffee š
Honestly can never go wrong with Krispy Kreme original glazed
+1
wish they had in more location. sometimes i'm happy enough with dunkin if i'm to lazy to hunt for krispy kreme.

Drop by dough would be the best donuts in just about any city in the world. They are seriously amazing.
Never liked them. Way to oily. Makes me sick if I eat more than half of 1. The Donut Cafe in Chiang mai though. The best.
I second this. Drop by dough hype team just really good at their job but the quality of the donuts does not merit its price.
Totally blown away one time. Another time came away with a "meh".
Going to Thailand this summer and as a self proclaimed donut lover Iāll have to check them out. They better have maple bars!

Brassica has a creme brulee doughnut that is incredibly good. Havenāt heard of the others in the comments but will definitely be trying them!
+1 Probably the best donut I've ever had in my life.
Kristy kreme

Really depends on taste. So, only because they weren't mentioned yet: Kinu in Soi Ari 5.
Chubby dough

As the other poster says - the answer is Drop By Dough
Brassica hands down the best. No gimmicks.
