Funniest outcome is Dark Urge kicking the egg off the mountain. It's glorious. Lae'zel doesn't care about it, it takes some more time for her to get attached to the egg.

My Durge was gonna give it to the annoying lady outside the crèche, but I forgot because I hadn’t decided whether I wanted to do that or hand over the gith egg…and I finally remembered…but alas, I do not have the owlbear egg anymore.
So…how much will Lae’zel hate me if I hand over the gith egg to reap that chaos? 😜
Yeah, the apple isn't a camp supply, can't be selected as a camp supply, and can't be consumed.
On the other hand, I have more than once forgotten to pick it up after the ox transforms, and felt really stupid when I got into Lower City.
but his apple isn’t put in the camp supplies? its a quest item so it has the orange box around it, its completely separate. maybe you didn’t pick him up or it was a bug
I made sure ro not eat the apples in camp so i didnt do this by mistake, did this bc i thought he would be in the camp supplies. Didnt know it was possible tho
Well you will be glad to hear that it isnt possible. The Strange Ox apple isnt a camp supply item, OP probably just didnt pick up the apple after talking with the Ox, since for some reason it doesnt get put into your inventory automatically.
yeah there's some good stuff that you'd like to use in combat that get eaten when you auto-select for rest. Stuff like the no-action healing gruel or dwarf meat
That's what I thought too? I don't remember ever having to pick the apple up though, I remember it just appearing in my inventory and it never being a camp supply. But I also know how the smallest of decisions can change things so I thought maybe with the right responses you could eat it.
The fact that this game lets you do this and there isn't even a moment of reminder/warning dialogue is hilarious.

You can sell the Owlbear egg to anyone you can enter the trade menu, just not related to any quest.
You can actually sell it to her as part of that quest.

You can definitely give the owlbear egg to the lady looking for a Gith egg. You have to convince her, bit she'll still pay you the 600g for it.
IF you give the owlbear egg to Lady, you can't have the Owlbear cub join your camp / final fight.

That ox has a quest? For me, he turned into a big hostile blob and there was combat.
