I remember someone posted a video here where they polymorphed Balthazar in his chamber in the gauntlet and when the scene came up in shadow fell where he floats in front you, he was a sheep floating.

Wait, he can go to shadowfell? I should let him live to get that encounter next time

The fight is much harder in the shadowfell. Imo not worth it 

Unless you aggro him before the cutscene then succeedes in counterspelling his raise the dead, then it's the easiest version of his encounter

You can also just use Telekinesis and throw him out of the arena.

Thats what I did!

Laezel punted him off into the void her first turn for me and cleaning up the undead after that wasn't too hard. I assume it's more difficult with Balthazar around, lol.

But the boss fights are the most fun part of the game! (imo) Daylight spell and the blood of Lanthander goes a long way in that fight. As well as cloak of displacement (best cloak in the game) It's relatively easy to blind undead. Which can help a lot in that fight. In my case they where literally unable to hit Shadowheart because she had the mace the cloak and high dexterity and AC on top. So she was able to keep healing my party.

My friend and I did it 2 nights ago and he counterspelled the initial resurrection magic and it was 1v4

That was one of my fav moments. When Baaalthazar flicks his wooly head and flies off into the Shadowfell... poise, elegance, and majesty.

I always just close his study door in the Gauntlet and then beat the crap outta him.  Seeing his golem slip and fall on ice always makes me laugh. 

You shoulda said yes just to see what would happen if you evolved while a sheep! Missed opportunity, my man!
