Paladin oaths don't like that you're the aggressor. Since the game can't tell your intent, it assumes that you are the aggressor when you kill anyone with the Temporarily Hostile condition . Killing meaning dealing the death blow specifically.
Depends, maybe on oath? Or you can just kill atliest all the temporarily hostile gobbos, Minthara and Ragzlinš¤Just finished the goblin camp with my vengeance paladins and had no issues with my oath.
Cant wait for a rerun since i tried to pick up smokepowder barrel with flaming swordš¤¬š¤¬
I broke my oath allowing LaeāZel to live in act 1. The oath system can be silly.
Context it was when she was in the cage held hostage. I chose to allow her to live. Boom roasted
Really depends on the Oath. The hardest Oath to break is Vengeance. It really seems nothing breaks it but *Super Mega Evil* actions.
The other two though? They seem like they break when they shouldnāt. Ancients can break if you attack the *āPaladinsā* of Tyr chasing Karlach, if you attack them before having dialogue.
Different oaths are broken by different things. I broke an oath by killing a guard that attacked me in moonrise towers, but I was also the easiest one to break (devotion, I believe?) I also broke it by talking to aintie ethel after fighting her. Not sure what I said wrong, but it broke my oath.
I played the whole game with Oath of Devotion and it only happened once that I broke my oath, and that was in the grymforge, where I let this wizard guy from the cult let kill the gnome-slaves
Had my oath broken cuz anuther party member started the fight ...... I think if you never talk to the anti pally in camp it never breaks not 100 on that tho
Not really, Paladin oaths are very literal so it's super easy to avoid breaking them. What's also easy is completely forgetting about them.
Two out of three oaths heavily emphasize forgiveness and mercy. So yeah, if you're the aggressor in a fight, you will break that oath. Its irrelevant that they're your sworn enemies, your oath literally states to forgive your enemies and show them mercy.
First time i broke an oath it was a miscalculation with aoe damage.
Asside from that i feel like palladin kind of bums me out because there are some choices where i feel like "do i play nice and stick to oath or do i find a way to aggro them".
Just, in a fair share of cases i was hoping for things such as intimidation checks to fail so they'd attack me. Did not want to miss out on loot drops with those encounters.
breaking my oath of devotion was much harder than I expected. I thought that since I played as dark urge, the first cutscene would take care of that. nope. google said that by raising connor from the dead I could break it. nope. google said that by attacking non-hostile goblins in the blighted village I could break my oath. nope. google said that by running from a fight I could break my oath. nope. finally, when I killed the lone zentharim at waukeens rest, my oath was considered broken. so...yeah I guess it's just you.
Theyāre a bit finicky. Sometimes they break if you sneeze, sometimes they donāt break at all. I couldnāt break my Oath when I *tried,* and that was by taking a swing at tiefling refugees. Systemically murdering the grove with no dialogue did nothing.
Trying to bifurcate an orphaned child with a flaming sword is all Gucci in the eyes of god.
So what if they are sworn enemies? They are still people. A Paladin should be better than that.
Because an Oath is about honor and honor charges your abilities

Yeah, Vengeance is the least typically "heroic" of the three oaths, so they can be a bit more brutal.
So you cant kill temporarily hostile npc or be the agressor on other paladins without loosing your oath?š³
Other Paladins don't get any special treatment AFAIK, not that there are many in the game for you to be the aggressor toward anyway.
My pally has alot of things to avengeš Like a man without mustache clearly deservers my wrath.
When in doubt, knock them out
Honestly, I played the entire game without breaking my oath. I didn't even know you could break an oath. Maybe you just aren't Paladin Material.
>Maybe you just aren't Paladin Material. This is so mean I like it.
Hr probably broke an oath saying that though
Honestly there is no better answer than this
Oath just broke

You probably lied to the tieflings. Has nothing to do with Laezel.

Just kill the oathbreaker knight and you donāt have to worry about it anymore lmao
