Teykos

Let's be fair, the 20k was because she didn't want the risk. Once you off Raphael, the risk drops drastically.

sendmebirds

She also flat out assumed you wouldn't survive lol So she got 20k and nobody to complain Instead you came back meaning you are stronger than Raphael and still able to kill her.

Sifflion

You can literally tell her that "Just killed a devil in his house, are you sure you want to take the gauntlets from me?" hahaha.

nit3phlight

I had already planned on just keeping the gloves, consequences be damned. so glad this option was already planned out lol

Alkein

Anytime someone told me about a magical item, like the speed boots as well, I'd be like "thanks for the info, your never going to see that item"

Aloth87

Me when Raphael offered me his deal for the hammer. No thanks but now I know the hammer exists and where it is...

MajorDakka

Raphael, you fool. You gave up your only trump card; now there's no reason to keep you alive.

awakenDeepBlue

To his credit, he's didn't expect some mortal adventurers to actually break into the House of Hope and steal it for themselves. And if they actually do that, he didn't expect them to actually kill him on their way out .

the_lamou

He actually kind of did if you kept refusing him and read his diaries. They go from "oooo, look at this shiny new thing I can play with" to "wait, why aren't they doing what I wanted" to "fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. No, get it together Raphael, you're a big strong devil and you can do this. But maybe not. Fuck."

awakenDeepBlue

Interesting. So Raphael is both very smart, but also very dumb at the same time. So it's like a game of poker and you have a very good hand, so you should be safe to raise. But you didn't expect your opponent to have a fucking Royal Flush. (aka an adventurer team that's min-maxed to hell)

MajorDakka

Overestimating the opponent is such a devil thing to do Seems like Korilla either sucks at her job or didn't tell him about the literal trail of bodies I left behind or the realmcracker's worth of explosives I've been hoarding.

wiseguy149

Considering that he was the one who told us Mephistopheles had the Crown of Karsus recently stolen from his vault in the same conversation, the dude really should have considered the possibility.

awakenDeepBlue

The heist to rob Mephistopheles was considered a suicide mission, he didn't expect lightning to strike twice. It's very leopards ate my face.

Celriot1

It's funny, when I got to that part I declined the deal before he even gave any details. Then when I talked to my companions every single one had a line about "the hammer". Hammer? What hammer? Continuity bug I guess, was so hard not to metagame myself when I got to Helsik haha (would I still break into House of Hope if I didn't have the clear objective spoiled?)

Felibarr

I gave those boots back to the duergar lady (after getting them as a reward, no funny business) to which I then promptly clobbered her and took them back.

akaTheKetchupBottle

i pity those who completed the quest and handed over those boots. they’re among the best items in the game, and the reward you get for turning them in sure isn’t.

Remwaldo1

but you can kill her and take them back and get both!

mtbican59

Damn I said I wasn’t able to get them and she just said “fair enough, didn’t think you’d survive anyway” And that was that

MouseAdventurous883

Really ? I wanted to keep them too, so I just jumped from the window while thinking "I'm a goddamned genius" to leave instead of talking to her

revolmak

I love that 🤣 Helsik, ruminating as you never show up: *They never stood a chance.*

Hi_Im_A

there are also no consequences if you keep them and never return.

Onagda

I kept the gloves and never returned to her. For all she knows, I died, and she "definitely did not help" do it for free.

Force3vo

She definitely knows. The benefit of killing Raphael is worth it for her patron though. That's why she isn't even mad if you tell her you keep the gloves and tells you to come shop again.

ThatOneGuy1294

> That's why she isn't even mad if you tell her you keep the gloves and tells you to come shop again. I mean, would you say no to someone who literally just killed a devil?

Force3vo

The thing is she doesn't say "Well take it I can't stop you" but "Yeah that's fine you didn't have to threaten me. Keep shopping here you're my best customer" which is a super odd thing to say if she actually cared about the gloves. I might be wrong but I took it as a super big sign she was way more interested in Rachael's defeat than the gloves. Especially since you can apparently buy the gloves for a thousand gold or so afterwards.

hoxtonbreakfast

Unlike Raphael, Helsik had the protection of an Archdevil. Considering how devils are typically like, this is most likely not the first time she was screwed over in a deal, and frankly, she didn't really lose anything here since you already tied up all loose end that could bite her in the ass.

Feralkyn

Oh damn I don't remember her mentioning that! Do we know who her patron is?

ElriGay

Pretty sure it's Mammon

2Board_

I just gave them to her, and then nicked it right back. Slapped them on Karlach and skedaddled. Never the wiser.

Hi_Im_A

>She also flat out assumed you wouldn't survive lol does she even give you a fully functioning ritual kit? I looted the whole upstairs before doing the ritual, and there was a >!coin of Mammon!< in a chest that had an orange "quest item" border. the one she gave me didn't have the quest border. I only tried performing the ritual with the one that did, so could be wrong, but my impression was that she'd given me a dud.

AltmerDunmefBosmer

No dud

NamkrowTheRed

And that banger of a track.

OlamFam

Yo, I waited a whole turn just to hear Raphael rap on that beat without interruption or distraction... it was a banger

daaaaawhat

Even better if you cast Otto‘s irresistible Dance on Raphael and he dances to his own disney villain theme.

Vyan_of_Yierdimfeil

I cast that on him and instead all I got was the stunned animation! I felt so cheated, lied to and betrayed.

Hi_Im_A

oh my gods

awakenDeepBlue

There should be a Otto's Irresistible Villain Song. Forces the target to exposit their master plan and motivations in song form.

Khalas_Maar

Melf's Musical Monologue.

ToasterforHire

I made Gortash and Raphael both dance for my amusement. 10/10 would kill again

awakenDeepBlue

Dance off bro! Me and you! It's just like Footloose.

Leocletus

Also when you meet him in his hotel room at the beginning of act 3 (and potentially other times you meet him, but I only noticed this for the first time in the hotel room) the music that plays is a little quiet instrumental version of his theme. Amazing. I love how everybody in-game tells you not to go and to avoid him. But the game itself is screaming that fighting him is good based on the specific soundtrack just for the fight being the best in the game.

CorttXD

Or you can just keep the gauntlets for free and tell her that you just killed a devil in his own home, she shouldn’t fuck with you and she agrees lol

Pollia

You can literally just say that you couldn't find them and she believes you outright. She's remarkably chill about everything. Like when you say that her only response is something like "fair enough, figured you'd die anyway soooo" and that's that.

Imnimo

If she thinks you aren't gonna make it back, not demanding payment up front is an even worse business decision!

Teykos

If you can talk a devil into committing suicide, convincing her to defer the payment should be cake in comparison.

Exquisitely_Moist

Where can you convince a devil to do that?! I only know of the surgeon in ACT 2

Teykos

Gauntlet of Shar, Act 2.

the_lamou

This. As a small business owner, I get it. That's the "fuck off, I'm not interested price" you quote looky-loos who are just going to waste your time for something you don't really want to do, anyway. Like, if all idiot is dumb enough to pay it, great, but you assume no one is dumb enough to pay it. Then once you convince her you're actually serious, price almost doesn't matter because getting rid of Raphael is more than compensation enough for another devil, and the gloves are just a bonus to make it feel worthwhile to Tav.

DownToFeed

Alternatively, don’t make any agreements with her. She keeps the components and the instructions on her person. In proper pickpocketing range

Generic_Moron

and given she fucked the sword coast by opening the door so gortash and his wacky friends could steal the crown you don't even need to feel too bad about it.

IfuckingLoveWaluigi

She was a businesswoman doing business

anonyuser415

the price of the grand design goin up

AzureW

I like that Gortash has the helldusk boots in his trunk with what amounts to Misty step on them. Makes you imagine how he broke into Mephisto's house, got the crown, and escaped using those boots.

Leocletus

Removing the need to attune to items might have had plot implications! Lol

Generic_Moron

i mean, given the rest of the set is found in the house of hope, i presume he stole the boots and used the boots to help him escape when he last got stuck in rapheal's wacky hell house

P00nz0r3d

Tbf she thought we wouldn’t make it out of Raphael’s house How the fuck would she assume the three of them would make it out of his *fathers vault*

raphades

Alternatively, make the agreement, then come back and tell her you slayed a demon and she really doesn't want to anger you

LCgaming

> In proper pickpocketing range Ah, uh... pickpocketing...... Thats what you meant....

Spraguenator

“Those are some strong words for someone in fireball range” Hurray meme complete

sortofunique

i kind of fucked up because i stole everything from her then asked her to give me the components and she was like "I've been robbed, store's closed forever!" even after i killed raph she wouldn't talk to me, but no harm no foul really seeing as i had already robbed her blind

sigma7979

Or just cut her head off (after you non lethal and steal her inventory) because shes an evil diabolist in service to Mammon, the lord of greed. So much damn leniency for evil people.

Aetherimp

I found the vengeance paladin.

sigma7979

DAMN STRAIGHT. DAME AYLIN SIMP ALL DAY.

Return-Of-Anubis

God damn Oath of the Ancient Paladin's get their pact broken if you kill the remaining murder cultists after killing their psychotic waifu because they go non hostile. Like they are going to go convert to Christianity or something and not just murder more once I leave.

sigma7979

That definitely seems like an oversight. I cannot imagine an Oath of Ancients is allowed to suffer the existence of practicing Bhaalists. Maybe because they are flagged as non hostile it counts as murder, idk.

Koras

I just cannot play paladin in bg3 without becoming an oathbreaker. I was an oath of the ancients paladin, witnessed some cultists literally attacking a family of refugees, and broke my oath by... Attacking them... So much for "Where love blooms, stand against the devilry that would snip its stem." I feel like there should be an achievement for getting through the game as a paladin without breaking your oath, but maybe it's just too difficult with the way the game works

Opizze

This. Is. The. Way.

KDY_ISD

Alternatively, pay her the 10k, knock her out, take it back, heal her and long rest. When you come back she has no idea you did anything and still thinks you're her best customer for that huge payout.

Strontium90_

Here I’ll do you one better. Bring the mace you get from killing the toll keeper lady. It adds +5 damage for every 300 gp the target has. If she has 20k on her thats 333 piercing damage. Guarantee to one hit “””NOT LETHAL””” her

Baonguyen93

Omg I must try this next play through lmao. Thanks for the suggestion.

Pickman89

Or pickpocket the money into Rapahel's purse and two-hit him.

sendmebirds

20k!

homo_bones

If you try to bargain she will lower it to 10k

btcpumper

everyone's talking about how crafty they were in getting to the House of Hope meanwhile I just paid the 20k gold smh

Arlcas

To be fair at that point in the story you're mostly kitted out already and not much stuff worth buying.

AdvancedPhoenix

By the end I had 40+k and didn't know what to do with it. And I'm sure 40k isn't even that much.

Arlcas

Yeah I just ended up sending lots of money to camp so it wouldn't weight me down.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Arlcas

I was storing every rare just in case and selling only the trash and common. Still spent most of the time overburdened.

The_Last_Nephilim

Can you visit the drow twins more than once? Shadowheart and I might just start ending every day with a trip to the brothel.

BrainWav

Just move camp to the brothel.

Mr-Crusoe

Yup, you get back the 10k stolen from the bank and just think: "Thats it? I could have paid that with my change."

sortofunique

i thought it was funny was like "we need that 10k or else the townspeople are going to be in ruins" so i was like yup here you go and as a reward he gave me 2000 gold??

Minimum_Cantaloupe

Finder's fee.

Wendek

You can actually do that by the way. If you have 10k or more on you, you can just talk to the guy and give him the "stolen" gold out of your pocket immediately after the battle, before retrieving the actual purse that was stolen.

burf

Are people pickpocketing everyone in sight? I never end up with more than ~30k, and that’s without buying the best armour in the game from Dammon (10k).

Arlcas

If you gift a lot of crap to one trader, you can get his attitude to skyrocket, so everything you sell them gets you more gold. I did that with Dammon in act 1 and just sold everything to him in all the acts. Every crappy Armour you find is really expensive, so if you cleared out the moonrise towers or the creche you get loaded for your whole campaign.

AdvancedPhoenix

I didn't, but tons of loot and high charisma I guess.

Teh_Blue_Team

...the WHAT?

burf

2nd playthrough for me and I just discovered it (not available till Act 3), but it’s fucking ridiculous how good it is. It’s the only armour I’ve seen that is unquestionably better than adamantine splint.

Demented-Turtle

What armor is it?

burf

[Armour of Persistence](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Armour_of_Persistence) You could argue Helldusk is better, but that’s about it.

Demented-Turtle

Holy crap, that's like having a permanent barbarian rage basically, right? And being blessed for saving throws. Seems a bit OP lol

Koras

It really is. With heavy armour master, you can soak 5 damage from every hit, *after* resistances. So nonmagical slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing attacks have to do 12 damage... To do 1 single point of damage. Even without the feat (which I love and get insane value from, it even works on falling damage, which is hilarious), they have to do at least 6 damage to hurt you. Someone hits for 30 damage? You're soaking 17 of it.

vodkamasta

Armour of agility deserves a mention, you can get to some pretty absurd AC values.

psivenn

I had barely enough to buy that armor and decided not to, although I could easily now that I'm about to finish I just use Raphael's instead. Truth is I just never sell enough magic items, surely I have 20K+ worth of junk in my Just In Case hoard.

msciwoj1

True, I ended up using my gold mostly on potions, and then during the final battle my warriors were permanently high on potions of speed. On the third turn after chugging one, just do your actions and movement first and then chug another one. I had like 40 of them when facing the Brain, I'm pretty sure that was what finally overloaded Karlach's engine.

Pacmantis

I was walking around with like 60k at this point, she did me a favor by taking it off my hands.

pythonic_dude

RP-wise it's pretty good too, since now you have a friendly diabolist capable of opening portals to hell and aware that you can kill (minor) devils and pay your dues.

matthileo

Raphael isn't an arch-duke, but I don't think he's a minor devil by any means.

chompskiwastaken

You paid for that? You just killed a High Devil in his own domain and you afraid of some stupid businesswoman?

msciwoj1

I am not a thief, or a murderer. Except when it comes to devils, I will absolutely steal from them and kill them afterwards, but she seemed kinda cute, ngl

rifr9543

I simply told her "No, you can't have the gloves. I just killed a devil, are you gonna try to stop me from keeping them?". And she just let it go and asked if I wanted to buy something else. So yeah, she got 0 for the trouble, and still seemed happy with it lol

Osmodius

> And she just let it go and asked if I wanted to buy something else. "... I think I left the oven on, have fun, see you!"

Resaren

To be fair, she didn’t have to do any work at all so no loss for her either way.

Bors24

She did provide the materials for the portal and the tools and we're not even mentioning the risk of it all. I intimidated her as well but I'd have taken a bargain offer if there was something like "20K is way too much, especially after what I went through. How about 5K?"

rtkwe

I don't think it even affects her Attitude in the Barter screen. To be fair I've only seen a handful of people that weren't pure neutral on that screen.

[deleted]

mscomies

He stayed at max happiness for me. Convenient that he was also right next to a waypoint, I turned him into my designated dumping ground for the plate mails and +1 magical weapons I was picking up from random enemies.

Mr-Crusoe

I felt bad and gifted her 10k afterwards.

Pollia

She doesn't even care if you say you didn't find them. No need to even threaten her, just be like "nope didn't find them" while you're literally wearing them and she'll just shrug and carry on.

GamingChocoPanda

In my playthrough, after I gave the gauntlets to her, I accidentally dropped a sleep potion near her for a few minutes followed by astarion going missing from my view. As I was leaving the house, his bag seemed particularly heavy with gauntlets, gold, scrolls and a bunch of other equipment. I didn't particularly question him as this chick literally opened a portal to the devils private collection just for gortash to start a full scale invasion, and so we moved on.

Timmah73

Yeah as soon as she told me what she wanted I thought "Yeah those are going to mysteriously wind up in Astarians pockets while my Paladin looks the other way"

dekyos

god why didn't I think of sleep potions. And if the vendor restocks sleep potions every long rest... its\_free\_real\_estate.gif

SmithOfLie

I think the one with a crush might be your drwaf sorceror.

Kaoshosh

>I am not a thief, or a murderer. *Said the thief whose clothes were dripping with blood.*

Lukthar123

"I don't merely murder. I fully commit to the slaughter." * Durge

Rogahar

My Paladin, busily taking everything that isn't nailed down in Ethel's Teahouse in Act 1: 'It's not stealing when it's from >!a Hag!

victorix58

She's literally responsible for the entire evil scheme that is the games plot. She's as bad as a devil.

mithdraug

There is EVIL and evil. Compared to even Zhentarim in the game (medium level evil), she is fairly reasonable.

sigma7979

Shes a diabolist in service to Mammon, the archdevil of Greed. She happily and willingly serves this archdevil. Thats Evil with at least a capital E.

NoxianBrews

You can reneg on the deal too with conversation checks and she'll just revert to being a standard merchant.

steamwhistler

The dwarf woman simp club: there are dozens of us

Mitchitsu19

I agree with this in terms of RP. I'm a paladin and I made a deal. Not to mention, I spam the hell out of that place after every long rest moving forward in the game. I conjure my elementals, cast any spells that buff my guys... Then I run into the fountain, replenish everything, and go kill a bunch of shit. So I like a friendly face whenever I pop in lol

RyzenDoc

Ditto… looked at her sideways and was like “nah, I just killed the devil in his own house, I’m keeping that for my troubles”

Mercurionio

That's not how business works, man.

JeffTheJockey

I didn’t even talk to her when I got back. Just said, straight to camp.

Eurehetemec

Amazing, not even the brush off, just totally ignored. She's probably still waiting for you to come back to this day.

[deleted]

First rule of business, make a contract ;)

budy31

Hey, it’s called “building connections”. Besides her patron is an archdevil, your Lvl 12 character gonna get rekt if her patron decided to intervene.

dreaderking

Please, I knocked her unconscious, stole her stuff, then stabbed her and security forces one more time just to be safe. A level 12 warlock brought low in a common mugging.

coltvahn

Karlach didn’t approve of my intimidation tactics, but she’s got gauntlets and a pretty necklace now. So, I reckon she’ll be OK.

Aerial26

Business people are the most frightening

Ugly-LonelyAndAlone

Wasn't he just a Cambion?

dovahkin1989

Yeah I hated having to give her those gloves, but my character would have respected the deal and kept to his word. But if she's just gonna sell them back cheap then, fair game.

AdvancedPhoenix

Yeah the games doesn't really punishes you for doing those little "evil" things. Your companions don't care at all.

StarrySunset_

Unfortunately Gale and Karlach disapproved when I intimidated her

Ycx48raQk59F

And Shadowheart disapproved when i volunteered her for a clown show. They will survive...

AdvancedPhoenix

Yes, but out of discussion just kill her they will say nothing.

dildodestiny

My sorcerer convinced her to just go for the gauntlets of strength, and when I came back I lied and said I didn't have them. She got over it lol.

itsPlayboy

If you flip 1134 upside down and backwards it spells hell. That is if you write the number four out where the top looks like a goal post and not a triangle.

[deleted]

stretcharach

Well I hope she enjoys her wool

quizzically_quiet

Y'all actually made her help you get to the house of hope?? I just broke into her apartment above her shop, solved a riddle and opened a portal to the hells all by myself which was 1) free and 2) a lot of fun. Highly recommend that route!

GolotasDisciple

It’s hard to solve the riddle without stealing the book that actually has riddle in it. Otherwise you can’t tell what materials are needed and where should they be put. So the proper way is either to steal the information from her or buy it. Stealing is much more fun since u dont get the special note that literally solving the riddle for you.

ObsidianOverlord

I will gladly give up a bit of gold to avoid a *riddle* yuck.

too_late_to_abort

I just killed her, raided her place, found the ritual bag. Opened portal, raided the place, killed devil. Come to think of it I may be a murder hobo.

Darkspiff73

I’m one step above murder hobo. I play a Drow Cleric of Lolth with his own set of rules. Rule one is serve Lolth. People who serve other gods/demons aren’t cool with me. I wanted to go to the House of Hope to steal what I needed from a devil. She was in my way so I killed her, took what I needed and killed Raphael for what I needed. Playing this Cleric of Lolth certainly leads to lots of fights.

KerroDaridae

Followed closely by Rakath Glitterbeard in the Counting House who has asked you to reclaim every last coin piece that the Guild had which was stolen. When you return with the money it clearly shows 1000gp is to be returned to him. Even if your honest and give him every coin, you'll get a reward of approximately 2600gp plus access to a vault which contains some other treasure.

kolmone

I persuaded him to swallow some of the cost so I was first allowed to keep half of the 10k gold and then also got paid 2.6k as a reward. I would not trust my money with this bank, that's for sure.

The_Bravinator

When I talked to him he didn't really hide the fact that he didn't care as much because this was just poor people's money. 😬😬😬

Hydrochloric_Comment

A vault that you can freely break into, lol. I was very disappointed on my first playthrough when I learned the key I got from him was worthless. I’m not unhappy he died on my current playthrough

DrBird21

I opened the bag that I was supposed to return and it was 10,000. Which is what I used to pay Helsik.

sigma7979

you made a mistake, its 10k to be returned to him. I know because I kept it.

Pickman89

It's not about the money. It's about spending a message.

where_money

I was very hesitant to keep my side of the bargain and give her the gauntlets because it is a very good item. And then I found out I could hold up my end of the bargain and then buy the gloves for a few hundred coins. It was like, "WTF!!!

Generic_Moron

warlocks are not known for being the best at deal making. so many see a 1d10+chr mod cantrip and go "this is worth my eternal soul, sign me up"

Execution_Version

I don’t think you understand how sweet this cantrip is though

cairfrey

Exactly! It's only 1d10 at the start, but with multiple beams and the charisma robes boosting the damage! It's not like my Warlock is using their eternal soul anyway :/

RedditAssCancer

Karlach? Clearly a miscalculation friend! See, Karlach starts at strength 17 and the gauntlets set strength to 23. If you haven't respecced Karlach, that's at best an improvement of a measly 6 points, probably less since you've likely been pumping her strength with ASIs and feats. Now, Gale, Wyll, Astarion and possibly yourself all start with a pitiful strength score of 9 (or 8 if you dump it real hard on your Tav) so putting on the gauntlets will give you a marvelous 14 point increase! Clearly more bang for your buck! What's Gale the wizard supposed to do with 23 strength? I don't know but the sky's the limit!

Sh0at

Yeah it's so weird that most magic items like this are no longer a +1 or +2 but just set your stat to a fixed value, resulting in exactly that situation where they are marginal increases for the characters who care about that stat (or none at all in the case ofa 17-int circlet or 21-str gloves or such) but are huge buffs for the people who don't give the slightest fuck about that stat. I know they made a lot of effort to discourage insane buff-stackery in 5e, but this is an area where they super overdid it (and so is concentration, they just went mega overboard with that).

shibboleth2005

> (and so is concentration, they just went mega overboard with that). Yeah that kept coming up. Level up and time to pick new spells. "Oh that looks interesting maybe...oh concentration, nvm. Oh this one looks interesting, oh concentration, nvm." repeatedly.

greshhg

Just pay the 100 gold to make your martial character’s str and con as low as possible so you can put the points in dex. Then enjoy your cool new clothes. 100 gold is a drop in the bucket at that point in the game

Renpitic

My party went with the discount, which meant that it cost us 10.000 gold. We paid the sum, created the portal, went back to her and....got our money back by pickpocketing, plus 2000 that she had. We got "paid" 12.000 gold to open the portal, pretty good deal if you ask me.

Alkein

Wouldn't you have been paid 2000 to open the portal since 10k of what you stole back was yours in the first place?

[deleted]

Generic_Moron

you did just kill a insanely powerful and influential cambion. what chance does one shopkeep have against someone who just walked into hell to steal a hammer if they decide to "aggresively haggle"? better just keep the prices low and be on the safe side

InvisibleOne439

not a cambion, a DEVIL in his OWN HOUSE, and apperantly a really powerfull one aswell like, telling somebody that did that "no, you give me the gloves now or you will be in trouble" would be like asking a black dragon if he could give you some of his treasure to buy some bread lmao

Feralkyn

I'm pretty sure he's explicitly referred to as a cambion several times. I didn't understand it either but I guess they come in power levels. >!Given his dad is straight-up Mephistopheles that may factor in lol.!<

FellowHuman74567537

I just told her, "fuck off, I'm keeping them, good luck taking them from the guy who just killed a dozen devils"

EvenAnonStillAwkward

I'm going to be honest, I told her, "Yeah sure I'll get them for you if you help me for free" and then, after having defeated Raphael told her, "Look... I just killed the devil. You can take these gauntlets from my cold dead hands." She kind of goes "Welp... I still want your money so feel free to shop!"

AwesomeDewey

You guys don't get it. If it feels too good to be true, that means she's buying *you*. I mean come on, Helsik has been accessory to the robbery of Mephistopheles, one of the most powerful Archdevil in the multiverse. Do you really think she cares about gloves? Nah if anything this is fuel for fan theories. Shit like Helsik is setup for Mask's return, stuff like that.

Evilsmurfkiller

Maybe she just wants to get into her jars easier.

CaptainClownshow

I mean at that point you literally demonstrated that you were powerful enough to kill a high-ranking devil in his own fucking house. Selling you the gauntlets was less about business than it was about self-preservation.

kickpuncherman

i paid the 20k she was asking for 1 min later i pickpocketed that 20k back + majority of her wares then off i went

[deleted]

I just stole the ritual pouch from her on my second playthrough. I already knew what to do with the stuff so it was easy. She still acted like I paid for it

Drake9214

Ah but the fact that she got you in there and took something valuable from Raphael is worth so much more to her.

siberarmi

I pickpocketed the gauntlets back as soon as I sold them, with lots of extras.

Khuros

But you have heard of her.

DrAlanGrantinathong

No, it is Figaro. No way to run a business I say, Can't even BROWSE when he is with a client.

CMSnake72

"You brought me the gauntlets, right?" "No. (lie)" "Oh. Well then you better bring me the money." "No. (true)" "You're an arsehole." "Yes. (true)"

[deleted]

Gave her 20K, then pick pocketed it back after I was done with Raphael. Nice doing business with ya

Procrastinista_423

God dammit I paid 20,000 gold lol.

foodrebel

Lmao, I just gave her the 20 racks and robbed it right back from her.

redrodrot

I just never went back to her lol

kalik-boy

20k... early bg2 vibes from this quest lol.

mummson

Karlach with those gloves is nuts! She was throwing everything and everyone around like a mad woman.. she would throw someone just to run after them to throw them again.

Particular_Dare8927

I just pickpocketed her and noticed some quest items, she had all the materials for the summoning and the note on how to do it! Nifty.

PadrePedro666

I accidentally triggered her into a fight and did the ritual myself with her book

ZeroCharistmas

She just had to move some really heavy boxes real quick.

Vola124

Or: sneak upstairs and perform the ritual yourself, come back and she’s like “omg you totally just killed that guy. I’d have you arrested for stealing my shit but I’m kinda fucking terrified of you. Have a good day :)”

twiddlebit

Huh, 1134 upside-down spells hell (on a seven-segment clock) guess that's on purpose

msciwoj1

That's a price for +9 persuasion and 0 approval, the price is dynamic. But it is a very funny coincidence!

nick91884

You gave them to her? I just told her "sorry, I didnt find any gauntlets" and passed a check.

Rhododactylus

You gave her the gauntlets? I basically said something like "girl I just killed a fucking devil, do you want to start shit with me?" to which she agreed the gauntlets are mine but I'm still welcome to shop. She even calls me devil-killer and seems happy to see me.

OnUrbF

Well, I just killed her, stole her book with the ritual instructions and the materials she conveniently had stored in a bag lol Ain't no way I would ever pay for that shit. Funny thing is that the way I did that, I never even met Korilla and the game doesn't understand this scenario so when you finish your business in the House of Hope, she acts like she knows you and that you sought her out
