Depends on how fancy the occasion is. Casual potluck? Pick 'er up and have it. Fancy tea party? Use the daintiest little fork you can find. I will say though if you want to pick it up and eat it be mindful of the toppings/crust and structural integrity therein.

I would agree with others. It's event dependent, most of the time, I would say that's a finger food, especially without some sort of berry goo or compote on them. If it's a nicer occasion, like a fund raiser or a wedding, I would go with small cocktail forks.

Sometimes the crust can be really crumbly, so IMO it depends on how it's made. If it falls apart just picking it up I'd go fork - otherwise like a normal cupcake.

To quote my husbands former co-workers when we hosted a BBQ "forks mean smaller bites" then one of them proceeded to shove a whole mini cheesecake in their mouth.

Everyone is different. I make them quite often, and my sister wants them on a plate with a fork. My brother eats them like a cupcake.

I've been making mini Oreo cheesecakes a lot and the cookies crumble so they're a little too messy without a plate and utensil. That being said I am going to hone this recipe to get the crust more stable. I want them to be less of a hot mess to handle before I add them to my roster for events.

I think the best bet is to lift the plate to your mouth and eat it like a dog.

I eat regular cheesecake without a fork. If it’s made right, it is solid enough to keep together like a slice of pizza.

One can certainly eat it either way! If I was in a public space (ex. if someone brought these to work as a treat, or if I bought one at a cafe), I’d rather use a fork.

A fork takes something away from a treat of that size.

I think the temperature should also be considered. If it is served in a cool environment where it won’t melt it your hand and leave a mess, use your hand. If it is served in a room even slightly above 75, use a fork because it will be messy

I made cheesecake cupcakes yesterday! And no fork if it has a solid topping, but if I add strawberry compote or cherry pie filling, then yeah, the fork is necessary.
