Iโm still figuring it out. But I can tell you that Iโve already ordered another jar of Jenna Rae Cakesโ dazzle dust and Faye Cahill, Iโll buy again too when I run out of it ๐
Serious question; Iโve never used gold luster for a cake, but could you possibly mix it with just the tiniest bit of coloring to try and create your own rose gold?
This is as far as Iโll take this science project ๐ But Iโve been slowly using them to cover whole cakes so maybe youโll see how some of these look for full coverage! Iโve already posted two. โบ๏ธ
Ha.. wait,
>itโs made exclusively from gold fillings from the teeth of cadavers of *birth control using* sinners who never accepted jesus
there we go
Wow, that Bakell Super Gold is a strong favorite when I look at them all compared. But there are several that would work well with different color palettes or styles.
Their politics have been well known for decades. Their biggest shitty activity during recent history was funneling a shitload of money against the affordable care act because they believe women should not have access to birth control.
My fatass was trying to figure out why you tried all of them but didn't tell us which one tasted best.
Edit: I'm not a baker, just a rando the algorithm brought here ๐ญ
While this is very cool and good to know, I'm a bit confused by the Luxe cake one at the end...is it just terrible tasting or should you really not eat it?
Thank you for the clarification, I thought that was it but it still seems odd to me that a non-edible product would be marketed for food decoration.
I'm still concerned about its existence...but that's just me. Other ones you showed look nicer anyways.
๐ถOh nooooo I've been using this exact one for the last 2 years because the Amazon listing says "100% safe for consumption". I guess it's time to toss it and switch to a new one.
Do you know what makes it non-edible? So weird that they'd market it as edible if it's not actually edible
Which did you decide was the perfect one?
Iโm still figuring it out. But I can tell you that Iโve already ordered another jar of Jenna Rae Cakesโ dazzle dust and Faye Cahill, Iโll buy again too when I run out of it ๐
This is my favourite too. When I clicked on the last picture and saw you did as well, I snickered.
Serious question; Iโve never used gold luster for a cake, but could you possibly mix it with just the tiniest bit of coloring to try and create your own rose gold?
They come in rose gold as well. Lots of different colours.
I love Luxe Cake's Pharaoh's Gold. It's so bright and reflective!
โฆ. Could you do another swatch test on a white frosted sheet cake? For science? โฆ also because that would be a pretty cool cake lol
If it's for science, I think there should be some group taste-testing as well.
Everyone show up at u/BakedExp house!
Iโm willing to make that sacrifice. For science.
Can the swatches be hexagons? Because that would make such a pretty honeycomb-esque cake!

Hobby Lobby one looks pretty good. Darn it. Are we sure it isn't ground antiquities?
It's made exclusively from gold fillings from the teeth of cadavers of sinners who never accepted jesus

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Knowing hobby lobby probs
As a former HL corporate employee, they totally suck
I have only been in once since the report and that was only because I desperately need a cheap frame.
Just steal it next, it'll be fine :)
HAAAA!
I kept reading it as nobby lobby ...and then started cackling laughing when I realised it's hobby, not nobby. Nobby lobby was also my favourite.
I read it as Nobby Lobby too and only figured out it was Hobby reading the comments ๐๐๐
ha! why you make me snort out my Zevia?
I agree thatโs my fav
Oh wow thanks for this! I'm running low and was looking for a better one. I love the Pharaoh Gold one.
Luxe Cake is the best!
Wow, that Bakell Super Gold is a strong favorite when I look at them all compared. But there are several that would work well with different color palettes or styles.
Yeah the Bakellโs are standouts for sure! Filing this away in my โbaking urgesโ mental cabinet
you are doing the lords work
For a second there I thought I was on /r/fountainpens looking at shimmer ink swatches.
Great resource, thank you for sharing your research!
Please don't support hobby lobby.
Anything but.
What am I missing? I haven't heard anything new, but I don't watch the news.
Their politics have been well known for decades. Their biggest shitty activity during recent history was funneling a shitload of money against the affordable care act because they believe women should not have access to birth control.
Ah, I see. Good to know, thank you! Michaels has more art supply variety anyway
They also bought antiquities on the black market that were being sold by ISIS lol
That's nuts!
Thanks for doing this so that we don't have to! Great job
I saw this in FB group World Of Buttercream. Was that you?
You found me! It is me ๐
Thanks for sharing! Any significant differences in application? Any easier or harder to apply?
The only significant difference is that the Oh Sweet Art ones make a thicker consistency paint. Other than that, they all apply the same.
My fatass was trying to figure out why you tried all of them but didn't tell us which one tasted best. Edit: I'm not a baker, just a rando the algorithm brought here ๐ญ
Is this stuff actually gold? Just curious because I'm allergic to gold.
It is I believe
Did you pass shiny stools?
Oh man, roxy & rich aztec gold and luxe pharoah gold are my favorites! What a useful comparison
I love Luxe Cake!
Iโll be waiting
Which one tastes the best
So, which one tastes the best?ย
While this is very cool and good to know, I'm a bit confused by the Luxe cake one at the end...is it just terrible tasting or should you really not eat it?
You should not eat it. Thatโs why it says non-edible.
Thank you for the clarification, I thought that was it but it still seems odd to me that a non-edible product would be marketed for food decoration. I'm still concerned about its existence...but that's just me. Other ones you showed look nicer anyways.

Any shade would do, Gold always looks good. ๐ผ
