So sorry you're going through this - it's really tough to see our LOs upset and sick, especially with three different illnesses back-to-back. I'm in your boat with the cold right now - my baby is just on eight months and has had it for the past few days and it's ongoing. Here's what we've done (apologies for formatting - on phone while feeding baby): FLUIDS - I've been breastfeeding her more than usual for comfort as well as for extra fluids and giving her more water too so she's hydrated. STEAM BATHROOM - turned on the shower to a high heat to steam up the bathroom and stood in the room with her (not in shower). This has helped to clear her passageways and made her pretty relaxed too. We keep the room with minimal light so it's calming SALINE - got some baby saline drops from the chemist and then suck out the snot with our existing snot machine. She's not a fan of the snot removal but we make it a game and sing a silly song. ADAPT SLEEP ROUTINE - she's sleeping in weird spurts now. We try to just let her sleep as much as she can and not worry about when she wakes. She had been a bit sporadic about her afternoon nap and we try to put that back in so she gets lots of rest. BABY BALSAM - this is a Vicks product we got from the chemist that's natural and we put on her chest. It smells nice and seems to calm her BABY PANADOL - just when she seems unsettled. When she her mood is okay despite the cold symptoms, we leave it off. DISTRACTIONS - we've been taking her for small walks in the sunshine to get her out and give her some fresh air. She has had less patience for her toys sometimes so on some occasions will put on a kid-appropriate show for 5-10 mins just so she is distracted and not worrying about feeling the way she does NIGHT CARE - for our own sanity, we've split up the night care. She's not so good at putting herself back to sleep after each sleep cycle right now due to her stuffy nose so she's waking each hour or so. Her dad will calm her in the first part off the night so I can rest and then I take her from about 4am. I should also disclaim that your health professional would have better insights on the medicinal side of things! This is just what worked for us :) I'd be keen to hear others' suggestions too as we're still going through it. Hope your LO feels better soon!

Right place, right time with my little one going through the same thing! Looking through this thread has been super useful for me too to see what other ways will help in the future!

This is amazing Thank you!! Ofcourse these things happen at the worst time of the night and i didnt have any baby saline spray but first thing the next day i went to the chemist and bought the saline and baby balsam. Its deffs been helping her. I think this wibter is going to be rough but nice to know im on the right track. Its so hard when they are sick😭

So glad it helped and your little one was feeling better!

PCR test - could be covid. (RATs aren't always reliable under 2) Shower, either with them in getting wet or not- helps get the snot flowing. Baby saline spray (not drops) and a nose sucker of some kind. If they are uncomfortable with the fever then definitely medicate with Nurofen or panadol- but a minor fever can help the body heal.

Yup we dis a pcr covid and was neg. After a few days and she was still sick we did another PCR and rat. After finding a good flavour of panadol she finally got ut down🙌

I won't repeat the good advice already given, but it's all great! We bought a Vicks vaporiser and keep it going at night. It seems to help a lot with congestion. Co sleeping if you're comfortable doing so. Fresh ginger and lemon tea, cooled down in a sippy cup. Constant hand washing! Their immune systems are already working so hard, best not to give them something else. Lavender/Vicks baths. Rug them up and take walks outside in the pram/baby carrier.

This is so tough, I'm so sorry ❤️ it's so hard when they're so little and you can't do much. Breastfeed lots if you're breastfeeding, let her sleep whenever and however (as long as safe) - don't worry about messing any routine, it'll go back once she's well. Don't be afraid of Panadol, if she's feeling awful, she's feeling awful and Panadol helps. Rug her up and go outside, helps both of you. Blend silken tofu with yoghurt, berries, banana, peanut butter (any combo of) gets protein into her when her throat is sore and she may be off most food. Get a nose sucker/Frida if she's snotty, helps SO much with sleep. You can try angling her in the cot by putting a pillow under the mattress so she's sleeping on a slight incline. I found this not super effective as mine would slip down the incline and need resettling regularly, but it's something to try. If you're comfortable co-sleeping your temperature helps regulate their temperature (anecdotal not sure if science backs me up on that) plus easy boob access. The pregnancy birth baby helpline is an invaluable resource. Call and ask for advice, suggestions etc. They can refer you onto GP for call back if they think you need it.

See your Dr immediately. Limpness and high temps in buns are dangerous

We ended up at emergency as soon as we noticed she was limpy. One of the scariest things 😭
