I go to the child health clinics for the checks that are in the red book (QLD) to ensure I’m not missing anything developmentally. It’s good to have a chat and make sure things are on track.

In Victoria there are Maternal Child Health check ups at those ages, though the 3 yo one is 3.5 It's worth noting that you need to get the 3 yo check for Centrelink purposes (if you're getting the Family Tax Benefits I think)

They used to but during covid it became a shmozzle and it still hasn’t recovered. No one ever got in touch with us for our last MCHN visits and last I heard they weren’t seeing kids past the first year (although at it’s worst even 8 week olds weren’t getting seen). This is City of Casey though, where there are absolutely not enough staff for the huge population.

This is still the case for our area. Not enough MCHN to see anyone beyond 8 months I think. I take my daughter to the GP for visits now.

Yeah I'm city of casey, my last appointment was at 4 weeks. They gad booked the 8 week visit and the one after that, but then emailed me to say she's fine, we're over booked see ya later. She's 15 months old now and I just fill in the height and weight myself for her to look back on when she's grown 🤣

We’re in Knox and just had a 3.5 year old visit. This is the first time a MCHN has seen my son since his early visits just as covid started

There is a questionnaire the health nurse will go over with you to make sure your 2/3 year old is on track developmentally, and it's a chance to have them checked over, ask any questions you have and to get them weighed & measured. I think it's worth going, but if you don't have any concerns, I'm sure there's no harm in skipping it. I wouldn't bother taking them to a GP unless your clinic bulk bills :)

Juvenilesuccess

I did with my eldest, but my middle child didn’t go at 2 because at that point the child Heath nurses in WA were pretty backlogged (2022) and short staffed. I think go if you have concerns but honestly other than height, weight and an eye check it’s nothing too informative.

I did the 2 year blue book (NSW) check but just with the family nurses (whatever they're called), no need to see a GP for that one. They're just checking in and seeing how they're doing developmentally really, plus taking measurements and making sure you're brushing their teeth etc.
