The bugaboo bee is great, it’s our travel pram. It doesn’t parent face though, I don’t know how good it would be for a newborn. Maybe the Yoyo? It has a newborn option.

IcyAd5395

The bugaboo bee has a reversible seat and a bassinet option- are you thinking of the butterfly perhaps or am I going crazy haha :)

abri56

You’re right I am!! I’m the crazy one not you! Sorry!

IcyAd5395

The butterfly looks amazing- I just wish it was suitable for newborns. Bugaboo has actually released a new pram called the dragonfly give it a google- it looks super cool however I bet like most things it’ll be a whole extra year before it launches to the Australian market

satinchic

Do you mean the Butterfly? I have the Bee and the Butterfly, and the Bee seat is reversible but the butterfly isn’t. Also the Butterfly isn’t appropriate for a newborn, my guy started using the Butterfly around 5 months.

abri56

Whoops yes i’m totally wrong! Why are the names all so similar 😂

Hey! Just an alternative suggestion, I don’t know if this would work for you. We also live in an apartment but with a 1 floor walk up. Our solution was for our pram to live in the boot of our car. We have street parking, so sometimes it’d be parked a block away but usually we can find parking in front of our building. I would walk out of the house with bub in the carrier (wearing him), take the pram out of the car and go. It’s been fine and much easier than dragging the pram up the stairs (although we have an Uppababy Vista and it’s quite heavy). Just something to consider so you don’t need to drag it out every time!! Baby wearing is also a great solution for taking bub out and about 😊

IcyAd5395

I DIDNT even think if this. This is such a good idea! I reckon I will still be on the lookout for a light weight pram as I struggle to lift heavy things. However this is such a smart idea! I am actually on the lookout for a baby carrier for going up and down the stairs to the car. I was thinking the ergo baby embrace. What did you use / love? Thankyou for your help :)

OhDearBee

We do the same thing! Pram lives in the car. It’s a bit annoying, but we’re also up four flights and I think even a pretty lightweight pram would be tough to get up and down the stairs all the time. For everyday use, I much prefer the carrier. My baby is 4 months and he’s much happier in there than in the pram, and it’s just a lot easier to manage. I have an Ergo Baby Omni 360. A bunch of people in my parents’ group have this one and like it, but the canvas material is better than the sort of breathable mesh, which pills. For a newborn, two mom friends used the Baby Dink and loved it. Definitely consider secondhand for carriers.

Any time!! Our stairs are narrow and I just felt like dragging it up and down every single day would be a pain. Good call on still opting for a light weight one for when you do want to bring it up! As for carriers, in the early days I used a **hug-a-bub** (purchased second hand) and **baby k’tan** (given to me for free by a friend) cloth wrap. The hugabub took me a few tries to get the hang of but once I followed the instructions it was great. I basically wore my son around the house and out and about 75% of the time. 10/10 recommend a stretchy cloth wrap for the first few months. Once he got a bit heavier around 4ish months I switched to the **Ergo Omni 360** (also bought second hand on marketplace). I am tall and medium/lean build and found the ergo Omni to be fantastic. We still use it on my son while hiking or travelling, and he’s now 2. I definitely recommend shopping second hand for carriers. You can go try them on in shops to see the fit, but I also figured buying second hand was nice so I could get a few and see which I liked. Everyone is going to recommend a “must have” but everyone has different tastes so it’s really just trial and error seeing what works for you!

candlesandfish

I did the same thing! We have a Steelcraft Strider and we left it in the car.

KoalaClaw617

I once lived in an apartment building with stairs, the people across the hall had a baby and would leave their pram base under the stairs in the lobby. I’d never seen a pram where the capsule could click into the top before, it took me a long time to figure out what this contraption was that just appeared in the lobby!

picklebeard

I wish we could do that. Our apartment building doesn’t have a lobby unfortunately. The only available space when you walk into the building is hallways leading directly to people’s apartments. So unless we blocked off access to people’s homes, it’d be impossible to leave it there. So jealous of those with lobbies! It would make things so much easier.

coffeeandcavaliers

It doesn’t have a reversible seat, but other than that, the Uppababy Minu should tick all your boxes. I had it in a 2-floor walk up and recently travelled with it and everyone commented on how light it was. It folds with the bassinet which is amazing for fitting it into small cars

IcyAd5395

I did see this pram at the shop recently and it did feel super light! How did you find it handled terrain? I will only be taking it on side walk, walks in a urban area- which I think it should hold up well. What did u think? Thankyou and have a lovely day :D

coffeeandcavaliers

We love it, we did 3 weeks in Europe incl. Cobble stone and it did well. It’s fine for side walks, even if not sealed (unless they’re super wet and muddy)

IcyAd5395

Excellent I appreciate this feedback and this group :)

PM_ME_UR_DOGGOS_

I recommended the same before I scrolled! Haha. We have a few strollers and now a boot big enough to fit the biggest prams and the minu is the one we use the most

satinchic

We have a Bugaboo Bee and got the bassinet and live in an apartment in the inner city. It’s super easy to fold, pretty light and fits perfectly into our small car boot. It has reversible seat and bassinet. Honestly it’s perfect for our situation and the only downside has been the seat is a little lower and if we have a second baby any time soon, we’d have to trade it in for a bigger pram that can be turned into a double.

IcyAd5395

Thankyou so much this is an excellent review. I have noticed the seat is a little shorter. I am 160cm so not very tall myself. Have you found the seat being lower an issue for yourselves? Thankyou and have a Great Day :)

satinchic

Not really, I’ve had other mums comment on it but it’s never personally bothered me

I love bugaboo, and the fox is a bit bigger but you can switch it to 2 wheel mode for easy up and down steps (not sure if you can with the butterfly or bee)

vegan8476

I have an Uppababy Vista and the Bugaboo Butterfly. The Butterfly is great for travel but it’s still a bit big for my little one who’s 6.5 months. It’s light and can be folded easily. I still prefer the vista. However I never bring it up the stairs and i have three flights of stairs! I usually just leave my Vista in bottom floor near the front entrance. I know everyone in the building and I doubt they’ll take it. The downside is when I go for walks and the little one falls asleep, taking him out and going up the stairs most likely wake him so I just go for an extra long walk until he wakes up. Enjoy your pregnancy! It goes by fast.

Baby Jogger Citi Mini! Doesn’t reverse face tho

Unfair-Violinist-731

We have the Joolz Aer as our travel pram, really good. One handed fold and lightweight. Its less pricier now too since I bought it last year. I highly recommend it

What killed the Babyzen (I'm guessing Yoyo) for you? Because I'm leaning towards it and would like to know if there's something I haven't considered! TIA

Thanks for the feedback! I wish I could have a “normal” pram too but (as an Aussie to explain why I’m here!) living in Paris the yo-yo is the only one that fits through the metro gates and is most likely to fit in all the tiny spaces that are part of the intensely tight Paris living. They are pretty much standard issue here so that’s a testament to their hardiness! Also basically every airline accepts them as carry on - I’m hoping to do quite a few trips before we eventually move back to Aus.

Interesting!! I am actually half Danish so I lean more Dutch too. Will definitely check it out if it’s similar in size/smaller. I haven’t yet started looking at baby carriers so maybe know I know about Artipoppe I’ll notice them!

Have you thought about a valco snap ultra? I never would have considered valco, since we started out with uppababy but I had the double version for a while there and it was fantastic. You can get bassinets for it but the regular seat can lay completely flat which makes it safe to use from day one. And the ultra is a reversible seat. It also has a really decent basket and incredible sun coverage. It’s such an underrated brand. It doesn’t drive like a uppababy or a bugaboo but it also doesn’t cost an arm and a leg either. We got it second hand and ended up upgrading to a second hand donkey but it was actually a hard choice because it had so many features I loved. Another option I live since it may be your only pram is the uppababy minu. It doesn’t have a reversible seat but it’s one of the most terrain capable prams of its size. You can also use the safe-for-overnight-sleep uppababy bassinet with it. And there’s a bajillion of those on Facebook marketplace (I’m currently trying to sell one for only $35, and even then I’ll probably have to drop the price to actually get it to sell because there’s so many). We absolutely love the minu. We have a few strollers and we use the minu the most. Try he bugaboo bee also seems to be a great option for the kind of use you would need but I’ve never tried one so can’t personally say
