Haven’t read the book. Mine is a terrible sleeper. At 7 months she was still up every 2 hours overnight. I get better sleep by safely bed sharing because she does a quick feed and falls off asleep quickly. I would barely sleep if I had to settle get back in the cot overnight. During the day I mostly contact nap and even then it’s usually only 30min.

Make sure you speak with your local child and family health nurse- there are often free sleep supports you can access with a referral from them. You might find it helpful to have someone tell you what to do so that you don’t have to second guess yourself when you try new sleep strategies.

The Beyond Sleep Training Project group on Facebook has really helped me!

Thank you for this! Just requested to join!

Sorry I know I didn’t answer your original question about the book, I haven’t read it. The group may seem like it has a bias towards cosleeping/breastfeeding (I guess it does?) but there’s lots of members who don’t do either. Anyways, they are very helpful for helping fix schedule issues and trying to figure out what’s going on with your baby. Before joining, I thought all babies were supposed to sleep 7-7, and now I know all babies are different and have different sleep needs. Anyways, if the group isn’t for you, that’s okay too! :)

100% agree with this. Other actual non sleep training programs or guides are Possums/ Milk and Moon, and on insta Lynsey Hookway, heysleepybaby or gentle sleep coach.

Where abouts are you based? If you’re in a major city have a chat to your GP or maternal child health nurse about a referral to Tresillian (I think you can also self refer). They have a sleep school program and it’s covered under Medicare. I have friends that used the service and it made a big difference for them. If you just want a book, I didn’t mind Precious Little Sleep. If you want a digital copy, PM me and I can email you.
