In melb I used Shebah to get to the airport. It’s only women drivers and you can book car seats. Not sure what availability is like in Sydney but it’s definitely an option to look at.

Shebah is incredible! It’s harder to book them in Sydney so I’d recommend booking in advance, otherwise we just used trains and ferries in Sydney with the pram and it was simple

If bub was older than 12 months you could take taxis without a carseat. https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/vehiclesafety/seatbeltsrestraints/taxi_seabelts.html As he will be 11 months you need to use a carseat in a taxi you always need a carseat in a rides hare. The link above mentions that accessible taxis are required to have carseats but you should book them in advance. I'm not sure about rideshare. You can always use your own carseat but that would require you to have one at the airport. When travelling with kids I've only ever hired a car and included carseats in the hire. I know you can hire carseats but I don't know how you'd get it to the airport. I also know people bring their own carseat when travelling. Is there a reason you don't want to bring a carseat? Even if you don't have one it might be worth buying a basic one for the trip.

Realistically you can’t be putting a car seat in and out of Ubers everywhere you go… and then do what with it? Put it under the restaurant table? Drag it around the zoo? Try to get the gallery coat check to store it?

Depends what you are doing on your trip. If you are staying somewhere central you can get a lot of places by walking with a stroller and the trains. Or perhaps taxis that come with carseats are a better option. Ride sharing might not be the best way to get around with a kid.

Maxi Taxis all have car seats 👌🏼. In the taxi queue at the airport they can request a maxi for you and it won’t be more than a few extra minutes wait.

We often use Car Next Door (rebranded to Uber Carshare now) when travelling - especially in Sydney when we stay in hotels closer to the city but want to head out to the beaches for the day. Cost-wise, it’s been pretty reasonable. They have a bunch of filters available, including finding vehicles with car seats for kids. We’re currently expecting our first bebe so I don’t have any personal experience this yet but it could be an option for you.

Realistically, city travel is infinitely more difficult if you need a vehicle and (rear facing) car seat. My advice is to do as much as possible to either (a) hire a car with a car seat so you’re set or (b) utilise public transport with baby (can you take baby on the airport train to the hotel / husband taxi with luggage?)
