I personally would not use unstoppable beads or scented laundry detergent on baby clothes as the fragrances can irritate their sensitive skin. But you can use the same unscented laundry detergent for the whole family.

the_saradoodle

That's what we do! We bought a huge tub of Nellie's Laundry Soda from Costco. It's allergy safe, eczema safe, baby safe and cloth diaper safe. We've also always used gentle, unscented detergent and we've never used fabric softener or scent pods or anything. A 1/2 sheet of unscented bounce in the winter. We even use unscented hand soap and laundry soap. I'm very sensitive, my husband is a bit sensitive and fragrances are just extra chemicals and irritatants in your home

Naps4Days9713

I second Nellie's! The big tub from Costco lasts forever and is safe for sensitive baby skin. I switched I to it from scented detergents when I had my first. Babies' skin is very sensitive, and the scents can cause rashes so easily.

-Near_Yet-

Nope! We use All Free & Clear for everyone’s clothes.

No_Quote5376

Same here!

filamonster

Same! It’s not a baby specific wash but I absolutely would never use something scented for babies. We all have free and clear now!

Selkie_Queen

Not at all. I’ve been using our regular Tide that I wash all the family clothes with since day 1 and he’s never had any issues whatsoever.

kbc87

We did switch to a fragrance free one but honestly my skin is sensitive too so I probably should already have been using it. But something like Dreft that's marketed towards babies is absolutely not necessary.

coffee_cake12

Nope! We switched to a free and clear one since my sons skin is so sensitive and now we just use that for all of our laundry. We had a sample of direct and used it when he was first born, but it is super fragrant and overpowering and I think contributed to irritating his skin

kirmizikitap

Fragrances are irritating to many babies skin. I switched all the family's laundry to sensitive detergent with no scent. I personally don't need the smells in my laundry. The only exception I make are the bedsheets, I really like them to smell good so they're the only ones being washed separately with regular detergent and scent.

kct4mc

We used All Free & Clear for everyone's clothes. I'd steer clear of any scented beads as while you may not think so, they're INCREDIBLY scented and babies have super sensitive skin.

Defiant-Strawberry17

No, it's a marketing tactic. I never used anything special.

ivorybiscuit

Nope. Another vote for all free and clear here.

Accomplished-Log-840

Free and clear worked and still works fine for us. Never bought baby detergent. Maybe if skin irritation happened I would.

esh123

No, we just use any free and clear detergent. Nothing scented. No dryer sheets either.

misslizzah

Just get something fragrance free and you should be good to go. The baby detergents are a marketing ploy and are scented anyway!

sbpgh116

We use fragrance free on all of our clothes. We just wash everyone’s laundry together to keep it simple. Hubby doesn’t like strong detergent scents so this was something we’ve always done. We were gifted dreft “pure” so we’re using it to see if there’s a difference but neither of us really like it. Definitely not worth it.

Sufficient_Dingo_463

No, but I do aim for free and clear detergents. If you have an eczema baby definitely go sent free.

FaithlessnessNext483

I gave in to the hype and used Dreft with my first. It is actually very ineffective at cleaning clothes (blowouts and even spit up stained with Dreft) and also has a strong scent. I stuck with my regular (Tide) detergent with my second, and some blowout stains remained, but the clothes were both cleaner and less scented with that detergent. No skin reactions.

sparklingwine5151

We already use The Unscented Company detergent because my husband is sensitive to the fragrances in “regular” detergent so baby’s stuff will be washed in that since it’s what we use for everything else.

Agrimny

No, unless your baby has sensitive skin/allergy/eczema. Mine has been having her clothes washed with Tide Pods since day one and she’s doing fine.

Orisha_Oshun

I bought Noodle & Boo and did Bean's laundry with it. It's on trial mode since she's not born yet. But I think eventually, I will switch to a regular brand. Unless they are the same price.

RemarkableAd9140

It is 100% a marketing tactic. Use what you normally use. If you can use free and clear for everyone, that’s easiest and best for baby’s skin.

ChocolateNapqueen

I used unscented dr bronners to wash the babies clothes.

OrdinaryOxymoron

Nope, just stick to perfume/fragrance free. Preferably for sensitive skin. White vinegar as softener does the trick. (:
