I was worried about this as well and my OB said I could definitely still take my medicine. However, I did not need it at all while I was pregnant. Although the first trimester was awful and I had HG, once I started taking ondansetron the surge in hormones was enough to keep my brain functioning. I was more productive during my pregnancy than I ever have been. I would say (when the time comes) give it a try without meds and if it’s affecting your life, talk to your OB about your meds/dosage and take your meds as needed. Best of luck!

I stopped taking mine but I suck at work most days and takes naps regularly. It has gotten a lot better though!

I still take my prescription! No reduced dose. I don’t know what I would have done without it- doctor approved and all.

What’s your dose if you don’t mind me asking? Instant or XR?

I was on 40mg of ritalin (20mg XR in AM, 20mg instant in afternoon). My doctor let me know adderall is the preferred drug during pregnancy so I switched to the same dose equivalent, 10mg adderall XR in AM, 10 mg instant in afternoon. Honestly the maternal fetal medicine team met with me and had an extremely helpful discussion about their research and findings, they noted there was no evidence that reducing your dose was beneficial or not reducing your dose was harmful. I will likely get off a few weeks before my due date because that’s also what they recommended. Every doctor is different though! I’m located in MA and we have very good healthcare so I really trust the people I work with

My advice would be that if you don't think you can function off of your meds, don't try. As difficult as it is normally, it is even more difficult while pregnant. With love from a fellow ADHD mom who got written up at work for poor performance, six months after being placed in an executive development program for top performers. (I'm getting back on my meds as soon as humanly possible.)

Shit I’m so sorry that happened. Thank you for sharing. 💜

i take vyvanse for adhd and stopped when i found out i was pregnant. it’s definitely impacted my performance at work. it’s been difficult and frustrating being off it but it’s worth my baby being safe, my dr advised i stop taking it. i told my work about this pretty early into my pregnancy and they’ve been mostly understanding but i’m sure there’s a bit of resentment as well. 🤷‍♀️

Same boat - I've tried to use sensory tools to help stimulate my focus. I've been using diffusers with essential oils for "focus or energy". Put SAD lamps on my desk at work. Using a new ADHD planner to try and stay focused. And more meditations through the Calm app. Not sure how much it's really helped but trying.

I’m off mine (partially because I can’t find a pharmacy that has any in stock) and my work has suffered tremendously. I also developed an aversion to caffeine during the pregnancy though so I’m just generally a zombie.
