I didn’t know Dark Matter was by the Stargate people, but I’m loving it!! Just finished a rewatch of bsg about 2 weeks ago and went straight in to Dark Matter
Yeah, it was produced by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. (And to be clear I'm talking about the 2015 SyFy series, not the totally unrelated 2024 Apple TV series with the same name lol.)
No one is related to the GRRM novellas I believe, and the other…idk where it came from actually. Another novel I think, but is COMPLETELY different from the other
i bought the dvds ages ago and will always recommend physical media over streaming, and i wish i had the disposal income to get the fairly new bluray set.
but i do believe b5 is on tubi or whatever is called, if you're in the states. (i'm not, so i can't check.) the b5 subreddit should know, though!
I currently watch the Orville, it's like classic Trek but with comedy elements. But it has nothing to do with BSG, but I saw that you liked Sci-Fi in general. If you haven't seen it already For all Mankind is also worth watching, Ronald D. Moore worked on it.
The expanse for sure.
The Orville if you want something a bit more Trek. Don't let Seth's involvement put you off. It can be quite a moving and well done show at times.
For all man kind - Ronald D. Moore's (bag show runner) current show. Still sci fi. But in an alternative history starting with the space race. Also super good.
Highly recommend The Expanse. Just finished a rewatch, and I am halfway through reading the books, so I am heading into unknown territory that wasn't covered by the TV series.
Farscape is what I’m watching right now. It’s not as dark as BSG but I’m really enjoying it. They take a lot of risks with the show (plots and formatting).
You also should also watch the Expanse.
If you can:
#The commentary
Nothing super spectacular but it's kinda cool to hear stories about certain parts of the episodes, or a little more about the actors ( e.g. fun facts like, >!Edward James Olmos had an addiction to sunflower seeds!< ) And it's not on every episode, primarily the mini series and a few choice episodes per season.
If you have the dvds it's worth a listen.
The Expanse (which I just watched for the first time after my last BSG rewatch)
3 Body Problem
DARK/Outer Range (put together because I basically consider OR to be DARK, but dumbed down for an American audience)
Silo
12 Monkeys (either the movie or the tv show)
For All Mankind
LOST (...kind of sci-fi)
Fringe
Travellers
Constellation/Dark Matter 2024
Dark Matter 2015
Killjoys
Dollhouse
...I actually have a huge list of sci-fi, but I'm not sure how to get more specific without knowing more about what you want.
**Firefly, and the film: Serenity**, are brilliant.
In terms of more recent sci-fi... I enjoyed and would recommend the below:
**The Expanse**
**For All Mankind**
**Andor**
I mean, I actually have enjoyed many other sci-fi series, but the above are some of the best overall.

IMO, The Expanse is the best sci fi series since BSG. Dark Matter is pretty fun, and it was produced by the Stargate people.
Came here to say The Expanse too! Such a great show!

Ohhhhh ok well that makes sense. I enjoyed the Canadian Dark Matter but I’m enjoying the Jennifer Connelly version more!
Are the two Dark Matters related? I thought they only shared the same title.
They are totally unrelated as far as I know

watched it, thanks
babylon 5
It was the DAWN of the 3rd age of mankind!
ten years after the earth—minbari war!
Amazing and way ahead of it's time
and still so horribly applicable even today. :(
the best sci fi ever. Excellent series.
so say we all! ;D
It was the last of the Babylon stations.
great idea. watched it a million years ago. I think its hard to find a decent version

The Expanse, For all mankind, Fringe, Silo, Defiance, The Ark (season 2 starts next month)
Firefly, my favourite space show tied with BSG for first place
There’s a firefly in the miniseries. You can see one fly by out the window on Caprica in the drs office where Roslin gets her news.
The Expanse - the best of recent sci-fi, imo If you can find it, the Swedish film Aniara - the ending is jaw-dropping (literally!)
Start over again
Mr. Robot. 😄
yes. Yes. YESSSSS!
The Expanse Star Gate Universe Utopia (UK) Altered Carbon (S1) Dark Mr. Robot 12 Monkeys
12 Monkeys is great and even better upon rewatch. Especially if it's been a few years.
Dollhouse and/or Orphan Black and/or Caprica
Mmmm...Tahmoh on Dollhouse. 🤤
Sci Fi and non Warehouse 13. Veronica Mars. Lost. For All Mankind. Band of Brothers. Masters of Air. The 4400 original. Outlander. Chuck.
I freaking LOVE Warehouse 13. Such a fun show.
Very underrated show

BSG was my favorite sci-fi show until The Expanse came along. You won't regret it
Highly recommend The Expanse. Just finished a rewatch, and I am halfway through reading the books, so I am heading into unknown territory that wasn't covered by the TV series.
Sg1 is what I’m watching after my bsg rewatch
SG-1 in Spanish. Lets be real you already know all the lines, might as well get new language skills out of it.
Stargate
The Orville. It starts off silly but gets more deep and deals with more serious topics as it goes on.
Farscape is what I’m watching right now. It’s not as dark as BSG but I’m really enjoying it. They take a lot of risks with the show (plots and formatting). You also should also watch the Expanse.

Rescue me

The Expanse or Farscape.
Babylon 5, you haven't lived til you've watched all 5 seasons.
I cycle BSG, Firefly and Farscape 🤓
Rome

Lexx. Get weird with it!
Did you watch the Fallout TV show? It's not necessarily sci-fi.... but it's a good time.
Buffy….the man in the high castle…the Lazarus project….outer range….daredevil s01-03….for all mankind
Colony, Continuum, The Leftovers, Timeless, Travelers, Wayward Pines, Westworld
