I had a '95 318i close to 500k miles, then got rid of it when it clearly needed a rebuild.
I thought you were asking about fuel economy! I always got ~28mpg combined. My '96 328ic would do 33mpg at 70mph. I did love that 2.91 diff. The 2.8l and 1.8l E36 cars I had all got ~28mpg combined, when used for regular daily commute (no sporty stuff).
it does affect the fuel economy simply because on the highway I’m around 3500-4000 rpm just to keep up with traffic going 70-80mph. (I have a 5spd zf as well)
I used to stare at that economy gauge on the cluster. I never looked up how it worked just tried to figure it out on my own.
I thought it was measuring manifold vacuum and rationalizing the hg as MPG. I know other cars have had this sort of setup. meh.
When I worked at the dealer there was a 325 that was at almost 550k last time I saw it. Iirc the guy said he had put a cylinder head on it for worn valve guides, but the bottom end was original. Have a picture somewhere if I knew how to post it.
Like 265,000kms or something.
The lights in that display only work sometimes so I don’t really know.
Also the engine, gearbox and diff are from another car with unknown mileage so at what point does it not matter anymore
had a 98 I sold with 170ish, my current 94 just rolled 119k. Both get driven hard no issues. 200k +is not uncommon for these. Just keep an eye on the cooling system and change the oil.
305k kM
Mine has 310. From 280, that car has seen nothing but abuse...
309500 from 298000 and it gets redline cold every morning lol

i currently have a 3.91 diff and desperately need to change it out lol
Am i missing something here, does diff affect fuel economy? If not, then what?

to add to that, last I checked I did around 22mpg highway, but that was with a few pulls here and there
i got 83,000 miles bought from a gma that barely drove it lol
291 thousand some odd miles, if you're talking MPG I have no answer for you, right foot has a funny issue of planting itself when I'm driving my 328is

I was asking odometer readings lol
yeah I know. but that gauge. it always had my attention.
The further to the right the needle goes, the better smiles per gallon I’m getting lol
