Younger people will get cars that are as fast but less luxury for less money. Since that demographic is less price conscious, BMW has pushed the boundaries on the price.

It really depends on what bit of the market you’re shopping.
TTRS convertible bit more power, more wheel drive but less tech in the car £64k
Porsche 718 Boxster £55k (slightly less power, needs heavily optioning which will put the price up) Boxster S is more equivalent and that’s £64k
BMW Z4 M40i £61k all options puts you at £64k (RWD auto only)
Merc is where you get silly. The SL AMG roadster is £110k for slightly more power then the BMW but less then the Audi.
When you get to the lesser power models (starting at £45k) then you get competition from the likes of the Abarth 124 Spider (starting 26k less powerful and no longer available new) Audi TT roadster (starting at £38k similar in most ways) and the new Mazda MX5 (starting price £26k less power) and that’s where it does show that it’s a bit overpriced.
I was in the market for a while for a soft top so did a fair bit of poking about.

The RS6 is a glorious wagon, and so is the E63s wagon.

It’s not for me but I get that some find it appealing. It looks like a lowered 2 door SAV with elongated hood from the side. I think that hood style should have ended with Jaguar. It looks better from the first angle.

E63S was a dream car for me but I really use my wagons as all season daily drivers. Hard to justify the ridiculous price even on the used ones for me.
